36 Also, your relative Elizabeth is pregnant. She is very old, but she is going to have a son. Everyone thought she could not have a baby, but she has been pregnant now for six months!

During the time when Herod {\cf2\super [2]} ruled Judea, there was a priest named Zechariah. Zechariah belonged to Abijah’s group. {\cf2\super [3]} Zechariah’s wife came from the family of Aaron. Her name was Elizabeth.


The angel said to Mary, “The Holy Spirit {\cf2\super [15]} will come to you and the power of the Most High (God) will cover you. The baby will be holy. He will be called the Son of God.


Sarai did not have any children because she was not able to have children.


Sarai was Abram’s wife. She and Abram had no children. Sarai had a servant from Egypt. Her name was Hagar.


Abraham and Sarah were very old. Sarah was past the right age for women to have children.


Sarah became pregnant and gave birth to a son for Abraham in his old age. All these things happened exactly like God promised.


But the woman did become pregnant. She gave birth to a son that next spring, just like Elisha said.


There is a time to be born,\par and a time to die.\par There is a time to plant,\par and a time to pull up plants.\par


Abraham was too old to have children. And Sarah was not able to have children. But Abraham had faith in God, and so God made them able to have children. Abraham trusted God to do the things he promised.
