Joshua 10:13 - Easy To Read Version

13 So the sun did not move, and the moon stopped until the people defeated their enemies. This story is written in the Book of Jashar. The sun stopped in the middle of the sky. It did not move for a full day.

Hezekiah answered, “It is an easy thing for the shadow to go down ten steps. No, make the shadow go back ten steps.”


A copy of the letter with the king’s command was to be sent out. It became a law. It became a law in every province. They announced it to all the people of every nation living in the kingdom. They did this so the Jews would be ready for that special day. The Jews would be allowed to pay their enemies back.


God can speak to the sun,\par and make it not rise.\par He can lock up the stars,\par so they don’t shine.\par


Sun and moon, praise the Lord!\par Stars and lights in the sky, praise him!\par


But their “voice” goes throughout the world.\par Their “words” go to the ends of the earth.\par


The Lord will rule as king\par on Mount Zion {\cf2\super [234]} in Jerusalem.\par His Glory {\cf2\super [235]} will be before the elders. {\cf2\super [236]} \par \{His Glory will be so bright that\}\par the moon will be embarrassed,\par the sun will be ashamed.\par


“Look, I am causing the shadow that is on the steps of Ahaz {\cf2\super [363]} to move back ten steps. The sun’s shadow will go back up the ten steps that it has already been on.”


Before them, earth and sky shake.\par The sun and the moon become dark.\par And the stars stop shining.\par


The sun will be changed into darkness,\par The moon will be changed into blood.\par And then the great and wonderful\par Day of the Lord will come!\par


The sun and the moon will become dark.\par The stars will stop shining.\par


The sun and the moon lost their brightness.\par They stopped shining when they saw\par your bright flashes of lightning.\par That lightning was like spears and arrows\par shooting through the air.\par


That is why these words are written in the Book of the Wars of the Lord:


“I will help the people of Israel get even with the Midianites. After that, Moses, you will die. [366] ”


“Soon after the trouble of those days, this will happen:


If you do this, then you will be true sons of your Father in heaven. Your Father lets the sun rise for the good people and the bad people. Your Father sends rain to people that do good and to people that do wrong.


God’s people shout to him night and day. God will always give his people what is right. God will not be slow to answer his people.


The sun will be changed into darkness,\par and the moon will become red like blood.\par Then the great and glorious day of the Lord will come.\par


Then the army of Israel chased the enemy down the road from Beth Horon to Azekah. While they were chasing the enemy, the Lord caused large hailstones to fall from the sky. Many of the enemy were killed by these large hailstones. More men were killed by the hailstones than by the swords of the soldiers of Israel.


That had never happened before. And it has never happened again! That was the day the Lord obeyed a man. The Lord really was fighting for Israel!


These souls shouted in a loud voice, “Holy and true Lord, how long until you judge the people of the earth and punish them for killing us?”


Then I watched while the Lamb opened the sixth seal. There was a great earthquake. The sun became dark like \{black\} cloth made from hair. The full moon became red like blood.


The fourth angel blew his trumpet. Then one third of the sun and one third of the moon and one third of the stars were struck. So one third of them became dark. A third of the day and night was without light.


Then Samson said a prayer to the Lord. He said, “Lord All-Powerful, remember me. God, please give me strength one more time. Let me do this one thing to punish these Philistines for tearing out my two eyes!”


The men of Israel prepared for battle. [37] They volunteered to go to war! Bless the Lord!
