Unto the end, a psalm for David himself. With expectation I have waited for the Lord, and he was attentive to me.


We have heard, O God, with our ears : our fathers have declared to us, The work, thou hast wrought in their days, and in the days of old.


4 Yea and my tongue shall meditate on thy justice all the day; when they shall be confounded and put to shame that seek evils to me.


Vanity of vanities, said Ecclesiastes, and all things are vanity.


6 And the people to whom they prophecy, shall be cast out in the streets of Jerusalem because of the fanmine and the sword, and there shall be none to bury them: they and their wives, their sons and their daughters, and I will pour out their wickedness upon them.


1 Thus saith the Lord: Take heed to your souls and carry no burdens on the Sabbath day: and bring them not in by the gates of Jerusalem.


5 Then shall there enter in by the gates of this city kings and princes, sitting upon the throne of David, and riding in chariots and on horses, they and their princes, the men of Juda, and the inhabitants of Jerusalem: and this city shall be inhabited forever.


5 Behold they say to me: Where is the word of the Lord? let it come.


5 Shout against her, she hath every where given her hand, her foundations are fallen, her walls are thrown down, for it is the vengeance of the Lord. Take vengeance upon her: as she hath done, so do to her.


8 And seeing him, they wondered. And his mother said to him: Son, why hast thou done so to us? behold thy father and I have sought thee sorrowing.


2 For which cause also I was hindered very much from coming to you, and have been kept away till now.


I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith.


8 And one of the servants answering, said: Behold I have seen a son of Isai the Bethlehemite, a skilful player, and one of great strength, and a man fit for war, and prudent in his words, and a comely person: and the Lord is with him.
