8 And it came to pass on the seventh day that the child died: and the servants of David feared to tell him, that the child was dead. For they said: Behold when the child was yet alive, we spoke to him, and he would not hearken to our voice: how much more will he afflict himself if we tell him that the child is dead?


4 Nevertheless, because thou hast given occasion to the enemies of the Lord to blaspheme, for this thing, the child that is born to thee, shall surely die.


5 And the Lord sent a pestilence upon Israel, from the morning unto the time appointed, and there died of the people from Dan to Bersabee seventy thousand men.


2 And Areuna said to David: Let my lord the king take, and offer, as it seemeth good to him: thou hast here oxen for a holocaust, and the wain, and the yokes of the oxen for wood.


5 And he stood and blessed all the assembly of Israel with a, loud voice, saying:


4 If thy people go out to war against their enemies, by the way that thou shalt send them, and adore thee towards the way of this city, which thou hast chosen, and the house which I have built to thy name:


6 And the children of the captivity did so. And Esdras the priest, and the men heads of the families in the houses of their fathers, and all by their names, went and sat down in the first day of the tenth month to examine the matter.


8 If my land cry against me, and with it the furrows thereof mourn:


3 And if thou have not, hear me : hold thy peace, and I will teach thee wisdom.


9 The Lord hath prepared his throne in heaven: and his kingdom shall rule over all.


0 He hath not dealt with us according to our sins: nor rewarded us according to our iniquities.


Unto the end, a psalm for David. Judge me, O Lord, for I have walked in my innocence: and I have put my trust in the Lord, and shall not be weakened.


For thy mercy is before my eyes; and I am well pleased with thy truth.


2 To the end that my glory may sing to thee, and I may not regret: O Lord my God, I will give praise to thee for ever.


My heart grew hot within me : and in my meditation a fire shall flame out.


I spoke with my tongue : O Lord, make me know my end. And what is the number of my days : that I may know what is wanting to me.


3 I will teach the unjust thy ways: and the wicked shall be converted to thee.


Shall not Sion say: This man and that man is born in her? and the Highest himself hath founded her.


2 I will praise thee, O Lord my God: with my whole heart, and I will glorify thy name for ever:


0 A faithful man shall be much praised: but he that maketh haste to be rich, shall not be innocent.


7 The locust hath no king, yet they all go out by their bands.


Before she was in labour, she brought forth; before her time came to be delivered, she brought forth a man child.


1 See ye the word of the Lord: Am I become a wilderness to Israel, or a lateward springing land? why then have my people said: We are revolted, we will come to thee no more.


And the Lord said to me in the days of king Josias: Hast thou seen what rebellious Israel hast done? she hath gone out of herself upon every high mountain, and under every green tree, and hath played the harlot there.


1 A voice was heard in the highways, weeping and howling of the children of Israel: because they have made their way wicked, they have forgotten the Lord their God.


8 And as I have watched over them, to pluck up, and to throw down, and to scatter, and destroy, and afflict: so will I watch over them, to build up, and to plant them, saith the Lord.


And like the jaws of highway robbers, they conspire with the priests who murder in the way those that pass out Sichem: for they have wrought wickedness.


0 And the other he shall burn for a holocaust, as is wont to be done: and the priest shall pray for him, and for his sin, and it shall be forgiven him.


6 Then they that feared the Lord spoke every one with his neighbour: and the Lord gave ear, and heard it: and a book of remembrance was written before him for them that fear the Lord, and think on his name.


3 And lifting up his eyes when he was in torments, he saw Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom:


The sower went out to sow his seed. And as he sowed, some fell by the way side, and it was trodden down, and the fowls of the air devoured it.


For the fruit of the light is in all goodness, and justice, and truth;


4 Then Josue and all Israel with him took Achan the son of Zare, and the silver and the garments, and the golden rule, his sons also and his daughters, his oxen and asses and sheep, the tent also, and all the goods: and brought them to the valley of Achor:
