And the Lord came down to see the city and the tower, which the children of Adam were building.


1 I will go down and see whether they have done according to the cry that is come to me: or whether it be not so, that I may know.


2 And when God had seen that the earth was corrupted (for all flesh had corrupted its way upon the earth,)


In Jerusalem also Josaphat appointed Levites, and priests and chiefs of the families of Israel, to judge the judgment and the cause of the Lord for the inhabitants thereof.


4 For Ezechias the king of Juda had given to the multitude a thousand bullocks, and seven thousand sheep: and the princes had given the people a thousand bullocks, and ten thousand sheep: and a great number of priests was sanctified.


9 To whom alone the earth was given, and no stranger hath passed among them.


God hath spoken in his holiness. I will rejoice, and I will divide Sichem and I will mete out the vale of tabernacles.


Who have said: We will magnify our tongue; our lips are our own; who is Lord over us?


Let them be turned backward, and blush for shame that desire evils to me: Let them be presently turned away blushing for shame that say to me: 'T is well, 't is well.


They have said: Come and let us destroy them, so that they be not a nation: and let the name of Israel be remembered no more.


3 They that are planted in the house of the Lord shall flourish in the courts of the house of our God.


6 That thou mayst be delivered from the strange women, and from the stranger, who softeneth her words:


2 I wisdom dwell in counsel, and am present in learned thoughts.


He that gathered in the harvest is a wise son: but he that snorteth in the summer, is the son of confusion.


1 For by me shall thy days be multiplied, and years of life shall be added to thee.


And a spirit of judgment to him that sitteth in judgment, and strength to them that return out of the battle to the gate.


THUS saith the Lord : Keep ye judgment, and do justice: for my salvation is near to come, and my justice to be revealed.


From the beginning of the world they have not heard, nor perceived with the ears: the eye hath not seen, O God, besides thee, what things thou hast prepared for them that wait for thee.


Be not very angry, O Lord, and remember no longer our iniquity: behold, see we are all thy people.


For every violent taking of spoils, with tumult, and garment mingled with blood, shall be burnt, and be fuel for the fire.


0 But when thou art spoiled what wilt thou do? though thou deckest thee with ornaments of gold, and paintest thy eyes with stibic stone, thou shalt dress thyself out in vain: thy lovers have despised thee, they will seek thy life.


Shall I not visit for these things, sayeth the Lord? and shall not my soul take revenge on such a nation?


8 Res. Thou hast judged, O Lord, the cause of my soul, thou the Redeemer of my life.


And in that day I will break in pieces the bow of Israel in the valley of Jezrahel.


3 But he that received the seed upon good ground, is he that heareth the word, and understandeth, and beareth fruit, and yieldeth the one an hundredfold, and another sixty, and another thirty.


9 Now we know, that what things soever the law speaketh, it speaketh to them that are in the law; that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may be made subject to God.


5 And truly if they had been mindful of that from whence they came out, they had doubtless time to return.
