1 For thy word's sake, and according to thy own heart thou hast done all these great things, so that thou wouldst make it known to thy servant.


And he defeated Moab, and measured them with a line, casting them down to the earth: and he measured with two lines, one to put to death, and one to save alive: and Moab was made to serve David under tribute.


9 But those Jews that dwelt in towns not walled and in villages, appointed the fourteenth day of the month Adar for banquets and gladness, so as to rejoice on that day, and send one another portions of their banquets and meats.


The lamp despised in the thoughts of the rich, is ready for the time appointed.

7 For the arms of the wicked shall be broken in pieces; but the Lord strengtheneth the just.


2 The lips of the just consider what is acceptable: and the mouth of the wicked uttereth perverse things.


8 He that trusteth in his riches shall fall: but the just shall spring up as a green leaf.


5 The way of a fool is right in his own eyes: but he that is wise hearkeneth unto counsels.


The wisdom of a. discreet man is to understand his way: and the imprudence of fools erreth.


8 The childish shall possess folly, and the prudent, shall look for knowledge.


2 He that rejecteth instruction, despiseth his own soul: but he that yieldeth to reproof possesseth understanding.
