When thou goest out to war against thy enemies, thou shalt keep thyself from every evil thing.

0 Behold, it is planted: shall it prosper then? shall it not be dried up when the burning wind shall touch it, and shall it not wither in the furrows where it grew?


I will call on the Lord who is worthy to be praised: and I shall be saved from my enemies.


0 And David prevailed over the Philistine, with a sling and a stone, and he struck, and slew the Philistine. And as David had no sword in his hand,


1 And the Philistine came on, and drew nigh against David, and his armourbearer before him.


5 David went, and returned from Saul, to feed his father's flock at Bethlehem.


And Israel at that time abode in Settim, and the people committed fornication with the daughters of Moab,


2 And God was angry. And an angel of the Lord stood in the way against Balaam, who sat on the ass, and had two servants with him.


6 Who, when they were come to Balaam, said: Thus saith Balac the son of Sephor, Delay not to come to me:


Experiencing also that his father was not well pleased with the daughters of Chanaan:


And God almighty bless thee, and make thee to increase, and multiply thee: that thou mayst be a multitude of people.


2 The sons of Sem: Elam and Assur, and Arphaxad, and Lud, and Aram.


1 And Balac said to Balaam: What is this that thou dost? I sent for thee to curse my enemies: and thou contrariwise blessest them.


2 And man when he was in honour did not understand; he is compared to senseless beasts, and is become like to them.
