3 Offer sacrifice no more in vain: incense is an abomination tome. The new moons, and the sabbaths, and other festivals I will not abide, your assemblies are wicked.


Behold you fast for debates and strife. and strike with the fist wickedly. Do not fast as you have done until this day, to make your cry to be heard on high.

It was planted in a good ground upon many waters, that it might bring forth branches, and bear fruit, that it might become a large vine.


4 Draw thee water for the siege, build up thy bulwarks: go into the clay, and tread, work it and make brick.


7 You have wearied the Lord with your words, and you said: Wherein have we wearied him? In that you say: Every one that doth evil, is good in the sight of the Lord, and such please him: or surely where is the God of judgment?


4 How narrow is the gate, and strait is the way that leadeth to life: and few there are that find it!


1 And the son said to him: Father, I have sinned against heaven, and before thee, I am not now worthy to be called thy son.


2 And the father said to his servants: Bring forth quickly the first robe, and put it on him, and put a ring on his hand, and shoes on his feet:


4 Because this my son was dead, and is come to life again: was lost, and is found. And they began to be merry.


What shall we say, then? Is the law sin? God forbid. But I do not know sin, but by the law; for I had not known concupiscence, if the law did not say: Thou shalt not covet.


2 When I shall send to thee Artemas or Tychicus, make haste to come unto me to Nicopolis. For there I have determined to winter.
