3 Swear therefore by God, that thou wilt not hurt me, nor my posterity, nor my stock: but according to the kindness that I have done to thee, thou shalt do to me, and to the land wherein thou hast lived a stranger.


That I may make thee swear by the Lord the God of heaven and earth, that thou take not a wife for my son, of the daughters of the Chanaanites, among whom I dwell:

2 But he, casting off the linen cloth, fled from them naked.


To them indeed, who according to patience in good work, seek glory and honour and incorruption, eternal life:


7 Let the priests that rule well, be esteemed worthy of double honour: especially they who labour in the word and doctrine:


2 Seest thou, that faith did co-operate with his works; and by works faith was made perfect?


8 If when we come into the land, this scarlet cord be a sign, and thou tie it in the window, by which thou hast let us down: and gather together thy father and mother, and brethren and all thy kindred into thy house.


3 And when they were gone back into the city, the spies returned, and came down from the mountain: and passing over the Jordan, they came to Josue the son of Nun, and told him all that befel them.


4 And said: The Lord hath delivered all this land into our hands, and all the inhabitants thereof are overthrown with fear.


7 And the Lord was with Josue, and his name was noised throughout all the land.


0 But this we mill do to them: Let their lives be saved, lest the wrath of the Lord be stirred up against us, if we should be forsworn.


9 Ephraim also did not slay the Chanaanite that dwelt in Gazer, but dwelt with him.


0 And he took all the flocks and the herds, and made them go before him: and they said: This is the prey of David.
