1 So Israel dwelt in the land of the Amorrhite.


5 So they slew him also with his sons, and all his people, not letting any one escape, and they possessed his land.


And the Lord put the word in his mouth, and said: Return to Balac, and thus shalt thou speak.


These are the mansions of the children of Israel, who went out of Egypt by their troops under the conduct of Moses and Aaron,


1 And all the cities of the plain, and all the kingdoms of Sehon king of the Amorrhites, that reigned in Hesebon, whom Moses slew with the princes of Madian: Hevi, and Recem, and Sur and Hur, and Rebe, dukes of Sehon inhabitants of the land.


3 And the river Jordan was the herder of the children of Ruben. This is the possession of the Rubenites, by their kindreds, of cities and villages.


But my brethren, that had gone up with me, discouraged the heart of the people: and I nevertheless followed the Lord my God.


2 And their border northward was from the Jordan: going along by the side of Jericho on the north side, and thence going up westward to the mountains, and reaching to the wilderness of Bethaven,


1 Whosoever shall first come forth out of the doors of my house, and shall meet me when I return in peace from the children of Ammon, the same will I offer a holocaust to the Lord.
