0 And thou didst forbear with them for many years, and didst testify against them by thy spirit by the hand of thy prophets: and they heard not, and thou didst deliver them into the hand of the people of the lands.


1 Yet in thy very many mercies thou didst not utterly consume them, nor forsake them: because thou art a merciful and gracious God.


A grievous vision is told me: he that is unfaithful dealeth unfaithfully : and he that is a spoiler, spoileth. Go up, O Elam, besiege, O Mede: I have made all the mourning thereof to cease.


Thus saith the Lord: Cursed be the man that trusteth in man, and maketh flesh his arm, and whose heart departeth from the Lord.


And by the facility of her fornication she defiled the land, and played the harlot with stones and with stocks.


0 And after all this, her treacherous sister Juda hath not returned to me with her whole heart, but with falsehood, saith the Lord.


7 At that time Jerusalem shall be called the thrown of the Lord: and all the nations shall be gathered together to it, in the name of the Lord to Jerusalem, and they shall not walk after the perversity of their most wicked heart.


1 For this city hath been to me a provocation and indignation from the day that they built it, until this day, in which it shall be taken out of my sight.


8 And they shall be my people, and I will be their God.


2 Neither shall the thought of your mind come to pass, by which you say: We will be as the Gentiles, and as the families of the earth, to worship stocks and stones.


6 As I pleaded against your fathers in the desert of the land of Egypt; even so will I judge you, saith the Lord God.


4 But I spared them for the sake of my name, lest it should be profaned before the nations, from which I brought them out, in their sight.


3 And I said to her that was worn out in her adulteries: Now will this woman still continue in her fornication.


5 And I will pour upon you clean water, and you shall be cleansed from all your filthiness, and I will cleanse you from all your idols.


1 As for Ephraim, their glory hath flown away like a bird from the birth, and from the womb, and from the conception.


Thus saith the Lord concerning the prophets that make my people err: that bite with their teeth, and preach peace: and if a man give not something into their mouth, they prepare war against him.


2 And they spoke ill of the land, which they had viewed, before the children of Israel, saying: The land which we have viewed, devoureth its inhabitants: the people, that we beheld, are of a tall stature.


A woman shall not be clothed with man's apparel, neither shall a man use woman's apparel : for he that doeth these things is abominable before God.


4 Butter of the herd, and milk of the sheep with the fat of lambs, and of the rams of the breed of Basan: and goats with the marrow of wheat, and might drink the purest blood of the grape.


3 And he brought us out from thence, that he might bring us in and give us the land, concerning which he swore to our fathers.
