5 And the angel of the Lord called to Abraham a second time from heaven, saying:


9 Jacob asked him, Tell me by what name art thou called? He answered: Why dost thou ask my name? And he blessed him in the same place.


I will go down with thee thither, and will bring thee back again from thence: Joseph also shall put his hands upon thy eyes.


But the rest whom thou shalt have after them, shall be thine, and shall be called by the name of their brethren in their possessions.


3 But they that held darts provoked him, and quarrelled with him, and envied him.


Moreover yesterday also and the day before, when Saul was king over us, thou wast he that did lead out and bring in Israel: and the Lord said to thee: Thou shalt feed my people Israel, and thou shalt be prince over Israel.


4 And let Sadoc the priest, and Nathan the prophet anoint him there king over Israel: and you shall sound the trumpet, and shall say: God save king Solomon.


9 But if you turn away, and forsake my justices, and my commandments which I have set before you, and shall go and serve strange gods, and adore them,


Pray ye for the things that are for the peace of Jerusalem: and abundance for them that love thee.


Fear the Lord, all ye his saints: for there is no want to them that fear him.


For without cause they have hidden their net for me unto destruction : without cause they have upbraided my soul.


4 Turn away from evil and do good: seek after peace and pursue it.


5 The eyes of the Lord are upon the just: and his ears unto their prayers.


And he said to his people: Behold the people of the children of Israel are numerous and stronger than we.


2 Stand now with thy enchanters, and with the multitude of thy sorceries, in which thou hast laboured from thy youth, if so be it may profit thee any thing, or if thou mayst become stronger.


7 Why hast thou made us to err, O Lord, from thy ways: why hast thou hardened our heart, that we should not fear thee? return for the sake of thy servants, the tribes of thy inheritance.


7 And thou shalt speak this word to them: Let my eyes shed down tears night and day, and let them not cease, because the virgin daughter of my people is afflicted with a great affliction, with an exceeding grievous evil.


And do not thou go into the house of feasting, to sit with them, and to eat and drink.


If thieves had gone in to thee, if robbers by night, how wouldst thou have held thy peace? would they not have stolen till they had enough ? if the grapegatherers had come in to thee, would they not have left thee at the least a cluster?


And you are cursed with want, and you afflict me, even the whole nation of you.


1 When you are to go forward, the Levites shall take down the tabernacle: when you are to camp, they shall set it up. What stranger soever cometh to it, shall be slain.


1 For where thy treasure is, there is thy heart also.


3 I in them, and thou in me; that they may be made perfect in one: and the world may know that thou hast sent me, and hast loved them, as thou hast also loved me.

1 What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who is against us?

8 Behold Israel according to the flesh: are not they, that eat of the sacrifices, partakers of the altar ?


5 But if thou wilt not hear the voice of the Lord thy God, to keep and to do all his commandments and ceremonies, which I command thee this day, all these curses shall come upon thee, and overtake thee.

For this cause I left thee in Crete, that thou shouldest set in order the things that are wanting, and shouldest ordain priests in every city, as I also appointed thee:


It is a faithful saying: and these things I will have thee affirm constantly: that they, who believe in God, may be careful to excel in good works. These things are good and profitable unto men.
