9 Because thy servant hath found grace before thee, and thou hast magnified thy mercy, which thou hast shewn to me, in saving my life, and I cannot escape to the mountain, lest some evil seize me, and I die :


And he said to the elder servant of his house, who was ruler over all he had: Put thy hand under my thigh,


And the messengers returned to Jacob, saying: We came to Esau thy brother, and behold he cometh with speed to meet thee with four hundred men.


1 And take the blessing, which I have brought thee, and which God hath given me, who giveth all things. He took it with much ado at his brother's earnest pressing him,


But he said: I have plenty, my brother, keep what is thine for thyself.


Neither is there any thing which is hot in my power, or that he hath not delivered to me, but thee, who art his wife : how then can I do this wicked thing, and I sin against my God?


4 But the rest of the acts of Ela, and all that he did, are they not written in the book of the words of the days of the kings of Israel?


4 And she that went in at evening, came out in the morning, and from thence she was conducted to the second house, that was under the hand of Susagaz the eunuch, who had the charge over the king's concubines: neither could she re- turn any more to the king, unless the king desired it, and had ordered her by name to come.


The lips of the wise shall disperse knowledge: the heart of fools shall be unlike.


4 The wrath of a king is as messengers of death : and the wise man will pacify it.


He that concealeth a transgression. seeketh friendships: he that repeateth it again, separateth friends.


Because like a soothsayer, and diviner, he thinketh that which he knoweth not. Eat and drink, will he say to thee: and his mind is not with thee.


5 The meadows are open, and the green herbs have appeared, and the hay is gathered out of the mountains.


1 My son, reject not the correction of the Lord: and do not faint when thou art chastised by him:


6 And when he had said these things, kneeling down, he prayed with them all.


1 And he answered her: All hath been told me, that thou hast done to thy mother in law after the death of thy husband: and how thou hast left thy parents, and the land wherein thou wast born, and art come to a people which thou knewest not heretofore.


And there went out a man baseborn from the camp of the Philistines named Goliath, of Geth, whose height was six cubits and a span:


1 Behold the days come: and I will cut off thy arm, and the arm of thy father's house, that there shall not be an old man in thy house.
