For the cry of the children of Israel is come unto me: and I have seen their affliction, wherewith they are oppressed by the Egyptians.


3 And the overseers of the works pressed them, saying: Fulfill your work every day as before you were wont to do when straw was given you.


And you shall lay upon them the task of bricks, which they did before, neither shall you diminish any thing thereof: for they are idle, and therefore they cry, saying: Let us go and sacrifice to our God.


1 Go, and gather it where you can find it: neither shall any thing of your work be diminished.


9 A slave will not be corrected by words: because he understandeth what thou sayest, and will not answer.


4 And it shall be broken small, as the potter's vessel is broken all to pieces with mighty breaking, and there shall not a sherd be found of the pieces thereof, wherein a little fire may be carried from the hearth, or a, little water be drawn out of the pit.
