A psalm for Asaph. The God of gods, the Lord hath spoken: and he hath called the earth. From the rising of the sun, to the going down thereof:


1 Cast me not away from thy face; and take not thy holy spirit from me.


Understanding for Asaph. O God, why hast thou cast us off unto the end: why is thy wrath enkindled against the sheep of thy pasture?


2 All have turned out of the way; they are become unprofitable together: there is none that doth good, there is not so much as one.


1 But Israel, by following after the law of justice, is not come unto the law of justice.


In saying before, Sacrifices, and oblations, and holocausts for sin thou wouldest not, neither are they pleasing to thee, which are offered according to the law.


And a stone of stumbling, and a rock of scandal, to them who stumble at the word, neither do believe, whereunto also they are set.


1 For it had been better for them not to have known the way of justice, than after they have known it, to turn back from that holy commandment which was delivered to them.
