1 But the others, that had been with him, said: No, we are not able to go up to this people, because they are stronger than we.


3 And the Lord being angry against Israel, led them about through the desert forty years, until the whole generation, that had done evil in his sight, was consumed.


4 Who, when they had set forward and had gone up to the mountains, came as far as the valley of the cluster: and having viewed the land,


You have compassed this mountain long enough: go toward the north:


You shall buy meats of them for money and shall eat: you shall draw waters for money, and shall drink.


And the Lord said to me: Fight not against the Moabites, neither go to battle against them: for I will not give thee any of their land, because I have given Ar to the children of Lot in possession.


3 Then rising up to pass the torrent Zared, we came to it.


8 Lest perhaps the inhabitants of the land, out of which thou hast brought us, say: The Lord could not bring them into the land that he promised them, and he hated them: therefore he brought them out, that he might kill them in the wilderness,


1 As strong as I was at that time when I was sent to view the land : the strength of that time continueth in me until this day, as well to fight as to march.
