9 The way of the slothful is as a hedge of thorns; the way of the just is without offence.


They were all confounded at a people that could not profit them: they were no help, nor to any profit, but to confusion and to reproach.


For behold darkness shall cover the earth, and a mist the people: but the Lord shall arise upon thee, and his glory shall be seen upon thee.


5 Then Jeremias said to Sedecias: If I shall declare it to thee, wilt thou not put me to death? and if I give thee counsel, thou wilt not hearken to me.


2 My people have consulted their stocks, and their staff hath declared unto them: for the spirit of fornication hath deceived them, and they have committed fornication against their God.


5 Then by the judgment of the priest he shall be defiled, and shall be reckoned among the unclean: for live flesh, if it be spotted with leprosy, is unclean.


3 Take away from me the tumult of thy songs: and I will not hear the canticles of thy harp.


7 And you shall give testimony, because you are with me from the beginning.


8 You yourselves do bear me witness, that I said, I am not Christ, but that I am sent before him.


5 And the Jews wondered, saying: How doth this man know letters, having never learned?


5 For Sina is a mountain in Arabia, which hath affinity to that Jerusalem which now is, and is in bondage with her children.


9 And the temple of God was opened in heaven: and the ark of his testament was seen in his temple, and there were lightnings, and voices, and an earthquake, and great hail.
