2 And when David was come to the top of the mountain, where he was about to adore the Lord, behold Chusai the Arachite, came to meet him with his garment rent and his head covered with earth.


And the king said to Siba: I give thee all that belonged to Miphiboseth. And Siba said: I beseech thee let me find grace before thee, my lord, O king.


2 So David arose, and all the people that were with him, and they passed over the Jordan, until it grew light, and not one of them was left that was not gone over the river.


5 And crying out he told the king: and the king said: If he be alone, there are good tidings in his mouth. And as he was coming apace, and drawing nearer,


8 And Achimaas crying out, said to the king: God save thee, O king. And falling down before the king with his face to the ground, he said: Blessed be the Lord thy God, who hath shut up the men that have lifted up their hands against the lord my king.


And the people shunned the going into the city that day as a people would do that hath turned their backs, and fled away from the battle.


For they have destroyed the things which thou hast made: but what has the just man done?


For the Lord is just, and hath loved justice: his countenance hath beheld righteousness.


3 And in it he hath prepared the instruments of death, he hath made ready his arrows for them that burn.


For the sinner is praised in the desires of his soul: and the unjust man is blessed.


1 Sing ye to the Lord, who dwelleth in Sion: declare his ways among the Gentiles:


9 In their heat I will set them drink: and I will make them drunk, that they may slumber, and sleep an everlasting sleep, and awake no more, saith the Lord.


Render therefore to all men their dues. Tribute, to whom tribute is due: custom, to whom custom: fear, to whom fear: honour, to whom honour.
