And after he began to be ninety and nine years old, the Lord appeared to him: and said unto him: I am the Almighty God: walk before me, and be perfect.


Did not he say to me : She is my sister: and she say, He is my brother? in the simplicity of my heart, and cleanness of my hands have I done this.


7 With the elect thou wilt be elect: and with the perverse thou wilt be perverted.


3 And Solomon slept with his fathers, and was buried in the city of David his father, and Roboam his son reigned in his stead.


And the Lord was angry with Solomon, because his mind was turned away from the Lord the God of Israel, who had appeared to him twice,


1 The Lord therefore said to Solomon: Because thou hast done this, and hast not kept my covenant, and my precepts, which I have commanded thee, I will divide and rend thy kingdom, and will give it to thy servant.


3 And all Israel shall mourn for him, and shall bury him: for he only of Jeroboam shall be laid in a sepulchre, be- cause in his regard there is found a good word from the Lord the God of Israel, in the house of Jeroboam.

And they taught the people in Juda, having with them the book of the law of the Lord: and they went about all the cities of Juda, and instructed the people.


The prayer of the poor man, when he was anxious, and poured out his supplication before the Lord. Hear, O Lord, my prayer: and let my cry come to thee.


Often have they fought against me from my youth: but they could not prevail over me.


Their infirmities were multiplied: afterwards they made haste. I will not gather together their meetings for blood offerings: nor will I be mindful of their names by my lips.


I have loved, O Lord, the beauty of thy house; and the place where thy glory dwelleth.


He hath exalted me upon a rock: and now he hath lifted up my head above my enemies. I have gone round, and have offered up in his tabernacle a sacrifice of jubilation: I will sing, and recite a psalm to the Lord.


Because they have devoured Jacob; and have laid waste his place.


6 The work of the just is unto life: but the fruit of the wicked, unto sin.


4 It is nought, it is nought, saith every buyer: and when he is gone away, then he will boast.


5 He that boasteth, and puffeth up himself, stirreth up quarrels: but he that trusteth in the Lord, shall be healed.


7 That hath turned away his hand from injuring the poor, hath not taken usury and increase, but hath executed my judgments, and hath walked in my commandments: this man shall not die for the iniquity of his father, but living he shall live.


And the angel that spoke in me answered, and said to me: Knowest thou not what these things are? And I said: No, my lord.


4 And thou shalt have joy and gladness, and many shall rejoice in his nativity.


Blessed shalt thou be coming in and going out.
