Of the nations concerning which the Lord said to the children of Israel: You shall not go in unto them, neither shall any of them come in to yours: for they will most certainly turn away your heart to follow their gods. And to these was Solomon joined with a most ardent love.


2 And the Lord gave wisdom to Solomon, as he promised him: and there was peace between Hiram and Solomon, and they two made a league together.

5 The wheat therefore, and the barley and the oil, and the wine, which thou, my lord, hast promised, send to thy servants.


3 I therefore have sent thee my father Hiram, a wise and most skilful man,


2 But many of the priests and the Levites, and the chief of the fathers and the ancients that had seen the former temple; when they had the foundation of this temple before their eyes, wept with a loud voice: and many shouting for joy, lifted up their voice.


A psalm of a canticle, at the dedication of David's house: I will extol thee, O Lord, for thou hast upheld me: and hast not made my enemies to rejoice over me.


And it shall come to pass in that day, that I will make Jerusalem a burdensome stone to all people: all that shall lift it up shall be rent and torn, and all the kingdoms of the earth shall be gathered together against her.

The priests and Levites, and all that are of the same tribe, shall have no part nor inheritance with the rest of Israel, because they shall eat the sacrifices of the Lord, and his oblations,


7 Not that I seek the gift, but I seek the fruit that may abound to your account.
