3 Neither will I take away the whole kingdom, but I will give one tribe to thy son for the sake of David my servant, and Jerusalem which I have chosen.


6 And he took away the treasures of the house of the Lord, and the king's treasures, and carried all off: as also the shields of gold which Solomon had made.


Because David had done that which was right in the eyes of the Lord, and had not turned aside from any thing that he commanded him, all the days of his life, except the matter of Urias the Hethite.


And the word of the Lord came to him, saying:


And Solomon said: Thou hast shewn great mercy to thy servant David my father, even at, he walked before thee in truth, and justice, and an upright heart with thee: and thou hast kept thy great mercy for him, and hast given him a son to sit on his throne, as it is this day.


And I said: WI beseech thee, 0 Lord God of heaven, strong, great, and terrible, who keepest covenant and mercy with those that love thee, and keep thy commandments :


And said: My God I am confounded and ashamed to lift up my face to thee: for our iniquities are multiplied over our heads, and our sins are grown up even unto heaven,


From the days of our fathers: and we ourselves also have sinned grievously unto this day, and for our iniquities we and our kings, and our priests have been delivered into the hands of the kings of the lands, and to the sword, and to captivity, and to spoil, and to confusion of face, as it is at this day.


9 All of the male kind, that openeth the womb, shall be mine. Of all beasts, both of oxen and of sheep, it shall be mine.


My son, forget not my law, and let thy heart keep my commandments.


1 That I might shew thee the certainty, and the words of truth, to answer out of these to them that sent thee.


A wise man is strong: and a knowing man, stout and valiant.


0 Who shall find a valiant woman? far and from the uttermost coasts is the price of her.


1 And if he be taken he shall restore sevenfold, and shall give up all the substance of his house.


2 Now abroad, now in the streets, now lying in wait near the corners.


3 Thou shalt not copulate with any beast, neither shalt thou be defiled with it. A woman shall not lie down to a beast, nor copulate with it: because it is a heinous crime.


And they shall receive nothing else. of the possession of their brethren: for the Lord himself is their inheritance, as he hath said to them.
