And when Jesus heard this, He was amazed and said to those who were following [along], “It is true when I tell to you, I have never found [anyone with] such great faith, not [even] among the Israelites.


But the military officer answered, “Sir, I do not deserve for you to come into my house; just say the word and [I know] my slave-boy will be healed.


And all the people [in the synagogue] were so amazed they began asking one another, “What is this, some new teaching? And it is spoken with such authority! He even orders evil spirits, and they obey him.”


So, He stood over her and spoke sternly to the fever. It left her and she got up [out of bed] and began serving them.


For I also am a man [who was] placed under the authority [of others], and I have soldiers [who serve] under me. I can say to this one, ‘Go,’ and he goes; and to another one, ‘Come,’ and he comes; and to my slave, ‘Do this,’ and he does it.”


Jesus then called the twelve apostles together and gave them power and authority over all evil spirits and [the ability] to heal diseases.


You slaves should obey your earthly masters in everything, [and] do not do it just when they are looking [at you], or to gain their favor, but do it with a sincere heart, out of reverence for the Lord.


Slaves should be in subjection to their own masters in everything. They should try hard to please them, without talking back
