And Jesus said to them, “The Sabbath day was made for man’s [benefit], and not man for the Sabbath [day’s benefit].


And Jesus entered the synagogue again and there He met a man with a deformed hand.


Then He said to the Pharisees, “Is it permissible by the Law of Moses to do something good, or something harmful on the Sabbath day? To save a life or to kill it?” But they did not reply.


Then He said to them, “The Son of man is lord [i.e., has authority over] the Sabbath day.”


But Jesus said to them, “My Father is continuing to work and I am working.”


Now it was the Sabbath day when Jesus had made the mud and restored the man’s sight.


Some of the Pharisees then said, “The man who did this is not from God, because he does not observe the Sabbath day.” But other people said, “How could a man who is a sinner do such [miraculous] signs?” And the people were divided among themselves [over the issue].


And God placed everything in subjection under His [i.e., Christ’s] feet, and appointed Him to be head over all things to the church,


I was in [i.e., under the influence of] the Holy Spirit on the Lord’s day [i.e., Sunday], when I heard behind me a loud voice, like a trumpet,
