As Jesus was leaving to go on His way, a man ran to Him and kneeled down in front of Him and asked, “Good Teacher, what should I do in order to possess never ending life?”


And if anyone says to you, ‘Why are you doing this?’ you should say, ‘The Lord needs it,’ and immediately he will send it back here.”


So, He sent two of His disciples, saying to them, “Go into the city [of Jerusalem] and there a man carrying a pitcher of water will meet you; follow him.


And the owner himself will show you a large upstairs room all furnished and ready. Make preparations for us there [i.e., to observe the Passover meal].”


Then you should say to the owner of the house, ‘The Teacher says to you, where is the guest room where I can eat the Passover meal with my disciples?’


After saying this, she left and called her sister Mary and said to her privately, “The Teacher is here and is asking for you.”


You call me ‘Teacher,’ and ‘Lord,’ and you are right in doing so because that is who I am.


Look, I am standing at [your] door and knocking; if anyone hears my voice [i.e., the sound of my knocking], and opens the door, I will [surely] come in to him and eat with him and he [will eat] with me.
