The news [of what Jesus was doing] spread all over [the country of] Syria and they brought to Him all those who were sick, stricken with various diseases and pains, dominated by evil spirits, and afflicted with seizures and paralysis, and He healed them [all].


And the report of this incident spread all over the district.


But [instead], they went all over the district telling people about Him.


And all the people [in the synagogue] were so amazed they began asking one another, “What is this, some new teaching? And it is spoken with such authority! He even orders evil spirits, and they obey him.”


And as soon as they left the synagogue, they went into the house of Simon [i.e., Peter] and Andrew, taking James and John with them.


But [instead] the man went out telling everyone about the miracle of healing and spreading the story widely, so that Jesus was not able to enter a town publicly but had to remain outside in deserted places. [So], people went to Him there from all over the region.


The book [i.e., actually a scroll] of the prophet Isaiah was handed to Him. He opened the book and found the passage where it was written [Isa. 61:1f],


Then a report about Him spread to the entire surrounding region.


And the report of this [incident] about Jesus spread throughout Judea and the entire surrounding district.
