Now after a long time the master of these servants returned [from his trip] and proceeded to go over his accounts with each of them.


But the one who did not know [i.e., what his master wanted], yet did things deserving of punishment, will be whipped with few lashes. And to the person who has been given much [responsibility], there will be much required [of him]. And to whom people entrust much [responsibility], they will ask [much] more from him.


But the citizens [of his newly acquired kingdom] hated him and sent a delegation after him [i.e., to the person who appointed the gentleman king over them], saying, ‘We do not want this man to rule over us.’


So, the first one appeared in front of him, and said, ‘Master, your sum of money has earned ten times more.’
