22 Then He said to the disciples, “The time is coming when you will long to see one of the days of the Son of man [i.e., the time when the Messiah would deliver His people from tribulation], but you will not see it [i.e., such deliverance would not occur during their lifetimes].

Jesus said to them, “Can the groomsmen act sadly while the groom is still with them? But the time will come when the groom will be taken away from them, and then they will fast.


But the time will come when the groom will be taken away from them. Then they will fast at that time.


Look, your house [i.e., the Jewish Temple] is being abandoned [by me (?)]. You will not see me until [the time when] you will be saying, ‘Praise the One who is coming in the name of the Lord.’”

So, Jesus said to them, “The Light will be among you for only a little while [longer]. Walk around while you [still] have the Light [with you], before darkness surrounds you. For the person who walks around in darkness does not know where he is going.


“I will be with you, [my dear] children, for only a little while [longer]. You people will look for me, but I am now telling you what I told the Jewish authorities, ‘You will not be able to go where I will be.’
