The first thing Andrew did was to find his own brother Simon and say to him, “We have found the Messiah (which means Christ [i.e., God’s specially chosen one]).”


Nathaniel replied to him, “Can anything worthwhile come from Nazareth?” [Note: Nazareth had a bad reputation and Jewish writings made no prediction of a prophet coming from that area. See John 7:52]. Philip answered him, “Come and see.”


Nathaniel replied to Him, “Rabbi [i.e., Teacher], you are the Son of God; you are the King of Israel.”


[Then] the woman said to Jesus, “I know that Messiah is coming ([He is] the One who is called Christ). And when He does come, He will tell us everything.”


“Come [and] see a man who told me everything I ever did. Can this be the Christ?”


and they said to the woman, “Now we believe, not just because of what you said, but because we have heard [it] for ourselves and know that this is truly the Savior of the world.”


And we apostles have believed [in you] and know that you are God’s Holy One.”


However, we know where this man comes from, but when the Messiah comes, no one will know where he is from.”


But many people in the crowd believed in Him, saying, “When the Messiah does come, will he perform more [miraculous] signs than this man has done?”


They answered him, “Are you from Galilee, too? Search [the Scriptures], and you will see that no prophet will come from Galilee.” [Note: They were probably referring to “the prophet” predicted to come by Moses. Deut. 18:15].
