And then, on a particular day, Herod, dressed in his royal robes, delivered a speech [to the people] from his throne.


Suddenly, an angel from God struck him [with a terrible condition] because he refused to honor God [by what he said in his speech], so he was consumed by worms and died.


These people are gripers and complainers, living according to their own [evil] desires, whose mouths speak boastfully, and who show partiality [toward certain people] to gain some advantage.


And they [all] worshiped the dragon because he had given authority to the beast. And they worshiped the beast, saying, “Who is like the beast?” and “Who is able to wage war against him?”
