19 This incident became known to everyone who lived in Jerusalem so that the [burial] field purchased with the reward money became known, in their own [i.e., the Jewish] language, as “Akeldama” [an Aramaic word], which means “Field of Blood.”)

So, they took the money and did as they were instructed. And this story [i.e., that Jesus’ body had been stolen by His disciples] was told widely among the Jews, and continues to be told to this day.
