Addiction and bad habits can be so destructive. Think about it, addiction is clinging to something—a behavior, a substance, an activity, even a person—that's actually harming you. So many of us struggle with these things, feeling trapped by a vice or an addiction. Sometimes, we feel like it's because of our past.
But here's the truth: in God, we're free. Christ set us free from all of that and forgave our sins. If you keep dwelling on the past, those chains can really hold you back. Sometimes, these struggles can even stem from negative spiritual influences, finding a foothold and coming to light when we unknowingly open a door, giving the enemy a legal right to step in.
You have the power to let go of what's binding you. Ask the Holy Spirit to reveal any areas of bondage you need to address. Receive God's forgiveness and His healing. He's there for you.
I pray that we all find freedom from anything that's hurting us and holding us back. Just like it says in John 8:36, "So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed."
In that day his burden will be taken off your shoulders, and his yoke off your neck. Indeed, the yoke will be broken because of fatness.
“Everything is permitted for me”—but not everything is helpful. “Everything is permitted for me”—but I will not be controlled by anything.
Therefore if anyone is in Messiah, he is a new creation. The old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.
No temptation has taken hold of you except what is common to mankind. But God is faithful—He will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you can handle. But with the temptation He will also provide a way of escape, so you will be able to endure it.
Instead, put on the Lord Messiah Yeshua, and stop making provision for the flesh—for its cravings.
Keep watching and praying, so that you won’t enter into temptation. The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak.”
A psalm of David. Adonai is my shepherd, I shall not want.He makes me lie down in green pastures. He leads me beside still waters.He restores my soul. For You, my Lord, are good, and ready to forgive and full of mercy to all who call upon You.
Fear not, for I am with you, be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you. Surely I will help you. I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.
He who dwells in the shelter of Elyon, will abide in the shadow of Shaddai.so no evil will befall you nor any plague come near your tent.For He will give His angels charge over you, to guard you in all your ways.Upon their hands they will lift you up, lest you strike your foot against a stone.You will tread upon the lion and cobra, trample the young lion and serpent.“Because he has devoted his love to Me, I will deliver him. Bless Adonai, O my soul, and forget not all His benefits:Bless Adonai, you angels of His: mighty in strength, performing His word, upon hearing the utterance of His word.Bless Adonai, all you His armies, His servants who do His will.Bless Adonai, all His works everywhere in His dominion. Bless Adonai, O my soul!He forgives all your iniquity. He heals all your diseases.He redeems your life from the Pit. He crowns you with lovingkindness and compassions.
So they cried out to Adonai in their distress, and He delivered them out of their troubles.He brought them out of darkness and deep gloom, breaking their chains.
Can a man scoop fire into his lap without burning his clothes?Or can a man walk upon hot coals without scorching his feet?
Listen, my son, and be wise, and guide your heart in the right way.and put a knife to your throat if you possess a large appetite.Do not join those drinking too much wine or gorging on meat,for both drunkards and gluttons will be impoverished— grogginess will clothe them with rags.
Who has woe? Who has sorrow? Who has fights? Who has complaining? Who has bruises for no reason? Who has red eyes?Do not crave his delicacies, for that food is deceptive.Those who linger long over wine, who go looking for mixed wine.Do not gaze at wine when it is red, when it sparkles in the cup, when it glides down smoothly.In the end it bites like a serpent and stings like a viper.
You keep in perfect peace one whose mind is stayed on You, because he trusts in You.Trust in Adonai forever, for the Lord Adonai is a Rock of ages.
He gives strength to the weary, and to one without vigor He adds might.A voice cries out in the wilderness, “Prepare the way of Adonai, Make straight in the desert a highway for our God.Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall,but they who wait for Adonai will renew their strength. They will soar up with wings as eagles. They will run, and not grow weary. They will walk, and not be faint.
For I am Adonai your God who upholds your right hand, who says to you, “Fear not, I will help you.”
But now, thus says Adonai— the One who created you, O Jacob, the One who formed you, O Israel: “Fear not, for I have redeemed you, I have called you by name, you are Mine.“You are My witnesses” —it is a declaration of Adonai— “and My Servant whom I have chosen, so that you may know and believe Me, and understand that I am He. Before Me no God was formed, and there will none after Me.“I, I am Adonai— and there is no savior beside Me.I alone declared, saved and proclaimed, and not some foreign god among you. So you are My witnesses” —it is a declaration of Adonai— “and I am God.From eternity, I am He. None can deliver from My hand. I act, and who can reverse it?”Thus says Adonai, your Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel: “For your sake I will send to Babylon and bring down the fleeing Chaldeans, all of them, in the ships in which they exult.I am Adonai, your Holy One, the Creator of Israel, your King.”Thus says Adonai, who makes a way in the sea and a path in the mighty waters.who drew out chariots and horses, the army and the warrior (they will lie down together, and not rise again; they are extinguished— quenched like a wick):“Do not remember former things, nor consider things of the past.Here I am, doing a new thing; Now it is springing up— do you not know about it? I will surely make a way in the desert, rivers in the wasteland.When you pass through the waters, I will be with you, or through the rivers, they will not overflow you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned, nor will the flame burn you.
I have blotted out your transgressions like a thick cloud and your sins like a mist. Return to Me, for I have redeemed you.”
But He was pierced because of our transgressions, crushed because of our iniquities. The chastisement for our shalom was upon Him, and by His stripes we are healed.
“Is not this the fast I choose: to release the bonds of wickedness, to untie the cords of the yoke, to let the oppressed go free, and to tear off every yoke?
Heal me, Adonai, and I will be healed. Save me, and I will be saved. For You are my praise.
For I know the plans that I have in mind for you,” declares Adonai, “plans for shalom and not calamity—to give you a future and a hope.
Moreover I will give you a new heart. I will put a new spirit within you. I will remove the stony heart from your flesh and give you a heart of flesh.I will put My Ruach within you. Then I will cause you to walk in My laws, so you will keep My rulings and do them.
Do not rejoice over me, O my enemy. Though I have fallen—I will arise. Though I sit in darkness, Adonai is my light.
But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.
Come to Me, all who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and ‘you will find rest for your souls.’and said to Yeshua, “Are You the Coming One, or do we look for another?”For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.”
And He said to her, “Daughter, your faith has made you well. Go in shalom and be healed from your disease.”
“The Ruach Adonai is on me, because He has anointed me to proclaim Good News to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim release to the captives and recovery of sight to the blind, to set free the oppressed,
“For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.God did not send the Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through Him.
Yeshua spoke to them again, saying, “I am the light of the world. The one who follows Me will no longer walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”
The thief comes only to steal, slaughter, and destroy. I have come that they might have life, and have it abundantly!
Yeshua said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life! No one comes to the Father except through Me.
“Shalom I leave you, My shalom I give to you; but not as the world gives! Do not let your heart be troubled or afraid.
“I am the vine; you are the branches. The one who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for apart from Me, you can do nothing.
These things I have spoken to you, so that in Me you may have shalom. In the world you will have trouble, but take heart! I have overcome the world!”
But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Messiah died for us.
knowing our old man was crucified with Him so that the sinful body might be done away with, so we no longer serve sin.
Therefore do not let sin rule in your mortal body so that you obey its desires.And do not keep yielding your body parts to sin as tools of wickedness; but yield yourselves to God as those alive from the dead, and your body parts as tools of righteousness to God.
Do you not know that to whatever you yield yourselves as slaves for obedience, you are slaves to what you obey—whether to sin resulting in death, or to obedience resulting in righteousness?But thanks be to God that though you were slaves of sin, you wholeheartedly obeyed the form of teaching under which you were placed;and after you were set free from sin, you became enslaved to righteousness.
Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Messiah Yeshua.But if Messiah is in you, though the body is dead because of sin, yet the Spirit is alive because of righteousness.And if the Ruach of the One who raised Yeshua from the dead dwells in you, the One who raised Messiah Yeshua from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Ruach who dwells in you.So then, brothers and sisters, we do not owe anything to the flesh, to live according to the flesh.For if you live according to the flesh, you must die; but if by the Ruach you put to death the deeds of the body, you shall live.For all who are led by the Ruach Elohim, these are sons of God.For you did not receive the spirit of slavery to fall again into fear; rather, you received the Spirit of adoption, by whom we cry, “Abba! Father!”The Ruach Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God.And if children, also heirs—heirs of God and joint-heirs with Messiah—if indeed we suffer with Him so that we may also be glorified with Him.For I consider the sufferings of this present time not worthy to be compared with the coming glory to be revealed to us.For the creation eagerly awaits the revelation of the sons of God.For the law of the Spirit of life in Messiah Yeshua has set you free from the law of sin and death.
And if the Ruach of the One who raised Yeshua from the dead dwells in you, the One who raised Messiah Yeshua from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Ruach who dwells in you.
Now we know that all things work together for good for those who love God, who are called according to His purpose.
I urge you therefore, brothers and sisters, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice—holy, acceptable to God—which is your spiritual service.Be tenderly devoted to one another in brotherly love; outdo one another in giving honor.Do not be lagging in zeal; be fervent in spirit. Keep serving the Lord,rejoicing in hope, enduring in distress, persisting in prayer,contributing to the needs of the kedoshim, extending hospitality.Bless those who persecute you—bless and do not curse.Rejoice with those who rejoice; weep with those who weep.Live in harmony with one another; do not be proud, but associate with the lowly. Do not be wise in your own eyes.Repay no one evil for evil; give thought to what is good in the eyes of all people.If possible, so far as it depends on you, live in shalom with all people.Never take your own revenge, loved ones, but give room for God’s wrath—for it is written, “Vengeance is Mine; I will repay,” says Adonai.Do not be conformed to this world but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may discern what is the will of God—what is good and acceptable and perfect.
The night is almost gone and the day is near, so let us put off the works of darkness and put on the armor of light.Let us walk properly as in the day—not in carousing and drunkenness, not in sexual promiscuity and sensuality, not in strife and envy.Instead, put on the Lord Messiah Yeshua, and stop making provision for the flesh—for its cravings.
Or don’t you know that your body is a temple of the Ruach ha-Kodesh who is in you, whom you have from God, and that you are not your own?Don’t you know that the kedoshim will judge the world? And if the world is to be judged by you, are you incompetent to judge trivial matters?For you were bought with a price. Therefore glorify God in your body.
What agreement does God’s Temple have with idols? For we are the temple of the living God—just as God said, “I will dwell in them and walk among them; and I will be their God, and they shall be My people.Therefore, come out from among them, and be separate, says Adonai. Touch no unclean thing. Then I will take you in.I will be a father to you, and you shall be My sons and daughters, says Adonai-Tzva’ot.”
For though we walk in the flesh, we do not wage war according to the flesh.For the weapons of our warfare are not fleshly but powerful through God for the tearing down of strongholds. We are tearing down false argumentsand every high-minded thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God. We are taking every thought captive to the obedience of Messiah—
and it is no longer I who live, but Messiah lives in me. And the life I now live in the body, I live by trusting in Ben-Elohim—who loved me and gave Himself up for me.
For freedom, Messiah set us free—so stand firm, and do not be burdened by a yoke of slavery again.
Now the deeds of the flesh are clear: sexual immorality, impurity, indecency,Listen—I, Paul, tell you that if you let yourselves be circumcised, Messiah will be of no benefit to you.idolatry, witchcraft, hostility, strife, jealousy, rage, selfish ambition, dissension, factions,envy, drunkenness, carousing, and things like these. I am warning you, just as I warned you before, that those who do such things will not inherit God’s kingdom.
But the fruit of the Ruach is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,gentleness, and self-control—against such things there is no law.
With respect to your former lifestyle, you are to lay aside the old self corrupted by its deceitful desires,be renewed in the spirit of your mind,and put on the new self—created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness.
For once you were darkness, but now in union with the Lord you are light. Walk as children of light
And do not get drunk on wine, for that is recklessness. Instead, be filled with the Ruach,
Finally, be strong in the Lord and in His mighty power.Put on the full armor of God, so that you are able to stand against the schemes of the devil.
I am sure of this very thing—that He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the Day of Messiah Yeshua.
Do not be anxious about anything—but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God.And the shalom of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Messiah Yeshua.
Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable—if there is any virtue and if there is anything worthy of praise—dwell on these things.
He rescued us from the domain of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of the Son whom He loves.In Him we have redemption—the release of sins.
Therefore, put to death what is earthly in you—sexual immorality, impurity, lust, evil desire, and greed—for that is idolatry.
For this is the will of God—your sanctification: to abstain from sexual immorality;to know, each of you, how to gain control over his own body in holiness and honor—
so then, let us not sleep as the others do, but let us remain on the alert and sober-minded.For those who sleep, sleep at night; and those who get drunk, get drunk at night.But since we are of the day, let us be sober-minded—putting on the breastplate of faithfulness and love, and the hope of salvation as a helmet.
keep away from every kind of evil.Now may the God of shalom Himself make you completely holy; and may your whole spirit and soul and body be kept complete, blameless at the coming of our Lord Yeshua the Messiah.
For God has not given us a spirit of timidity but of power and love and self-discipline.
Now flee from youthful desires; instead, pursue righteousness, faithfulness, love, and shalom, with those who call on the Lord from a pure heart.
training us to deny ungodliness and worldly desires and to live in a manner that is self-controlled and righteous and godly in the present age.
Because He Himself suffered when put to the test, He is able to help those being tested.
For we do not have a kohen gadol who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but One who has been tempted in all the same ways—yet without sin.Therefore let us draw near to the throne of grace with boldness, so that we may receive mercy and find grace for help in time of need.
Therefore, since we have such a great cloud of witnesses surrounding us, let us also get rid of every weight and entangling sin. Let us run with endurance the race set before us,Indeed, for a short time they disciplined us as seemed best to them; but He does so for our benefit, so that we may share in His holiness.Now all discipline seems painful at the moment—not joyful. But later it yields the peaceful fruit of righteousness to those who have been trained by it.Therefore, strengthen the hands that are weak and the knees that are feeble!And make straight paths for your feet, so that what is lame will not be pulled out of joint but rather be healed.Pursue shalom with everyone, and the holiness without which no one will see the Lord.See to it that no one falls short of the grace of God; and see to it that no bitter root springs up and causes trouble, and by it many be defiled.Also see to it that there is no immoral or godless person—like Esau, who sold his birthright for one meal.For you know that later, when he wanted to inherit the blessing, he was rejected. He found no chance for repentance, though he begged for it with tears.For you have not come to a mountain that can be touched, and to a blazing fire, and to darkness and gloom and storm,and to the blast of a shofar and a voice whose words made those who heard it beg that not another word be spoken to them.focusing on Yeshua, the initiator and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before Him, He endured the cross, disregarding its shame; and He has taken His seat at the right hand of the throne of God.
But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all without hesitation and without reproach; and it will be given to him.
Happy is the one who endures testing, because when he has stood the test, he will receive the crown of life, which the Lord promised to those who love Him.
Let no one say when he is tempted, “I am being tempted by God”—for God cannot be tempted by evil, and He himself tempts no one.But each one is tempted when he is dragged away and enticed by his own desire.Then when desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and when sin is full grown, it brings forth death.
So brace your minds for action. Keep your balance. And set your hope completely on the grace that will be brought to you at the revelation of Yeshua the Messiah.Like obedient children, do not be shaped by the cravings you had formerly in your ignorance.Instead, just like the Holy One who called you, be holy yourselves also in everything you do.For it is written, “Kedoshim you shall be, for I am kadosh.”
Stay alert! Watch out! Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, searching for someone to devour.Stand up against him, firm in your faith, knowing that the same kinds of suffering are being laid upon your brothers and sisters throughout the world.
If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.
