Addiction and bad habits can be so destructive. Think about it, addiction is clinging to something—a behavior, a substance, an activity, even a person—that's actually harming you. So many of us struggle with these things, feeling trapped by a vice or an addiction. Sometimes, we feel like it's because of our past.
But here's the truth: in God, we're free. Christ set us free from all of that and forgave our sins. If you keep dwelling on the past, those chains can really hold you back. Sometimes, these struggles can even stem from negative spiritual influences, finding a foothold and coming to light when we unknowingly open a door, giving the enemy a legal right to step in.
You have the power to let go of what's binding you. Ask the Holy Spirit to reveal any areas of bondage you need to address. Receive God's forgiveness and His healing. He's there for you.
I pray that we all find freedom from anything that's hurting us and holding us back. Just like it says in John 8:36, "So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed."
In that day his burden shall be taken away from off your shoulder, and his yoke from off your neck; and the yoke shall be destroyed because of the anointing oil.
“All things are lawful to me,” but not all things are helpful. “All things are lawful for me,” but I will not be brought under the power of anything.
Therefore, if any man is in Christ, he is a new creature. Old things have passed away. Behold, all things have become new.
No temptation has taken you except what is common to man. God is faithful, and He will not permit you to be tempted above what you can endure, but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that you may be able to bear it.
But put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the flesh to fulfill its lusts.
The Lord is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer; my God, my rock, in whom I take refuge; my shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.
Watch and pray that you enter not into temptation. The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.”
The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.He makes me to lie down in green pastures; He leads me beside the still waters. He restores my soul; He leads me in the paths of righteousness for His name’s sake.Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; for You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.
For all that is in the world—the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life—is not of the Father, but is of the world.
Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight.
The righteous cry out, and the Lord hears, and delivers them out of all their troubles. The Lord is near to the broken-hearted, and saves the contrite of spirit.
Do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, I will help you, yes, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.
He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will abide in the shadow of the Almighty.no evil will befall you, nor will any plague come near your tent;for He will give His angels charge over you to guard you in all your ways. They will bear you up in their hands, lest you strike your foot against a stone. You will tread upon the lion and the adder; the young lion and the serpent will you trample underfoot.“Because he has set his love upon Me, therefore will I deliver him; I will set him on high, because he has known My name.He will call upon Me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him and honor him. With long life will I satisfy him and show him My salvation.”I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.”
Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all His benefits,Bless the Lord, you His angels, mighty in strength, who do His word, obeying the voice of His word!Bless the Lord, all you His hosts, you who serve Him, who do His will.Bless the Lord, all His works, in all places of His dominion. Bless the Lord, O my soul!who forgives all your iniquities, who heals all your diseases, who redeems your life from the pit, who crowns you with lovingkindness and tender mercies,
Then they cried to the Lord in their trouble, and He saved them from their distress. He brought them out of darkness and the shadow of death, and broke their bonds apart.
Can a man carry fire next to his bosom without burning his clothes? Can one walk on hot coals without scorching his feet?
Hear, my son, and be wise, and direct your heart in the way.and put a knife to your throat if you be a man given to gluttony.Be not among winebibbers, or among gluttonous eaters of meat, for the drunkard and the glutton will come to poverty, and drowsiness will clothe them with rags.
Who has woe? Who has sorrow? Who has strife? Who has complaints? Who has wounds without cause? Who has bloodshot eyes?Be not desirous of his delicacies, for they are deceitful food. Those who linger long over the wine, those who turn in to try mixed wine.Stare not into the wine when it is red, when it sparkles in the cup, when it goes down smoothly. In the end it bites like a serpent, and stings like a viper.
He who has no rule over his own spirit is like a city that is broken down and without walls.
You will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on You, because he trusts in You.Trust in the Lord forever, for in God the Lord we have an everlasting rock.
He gives power to the faint, and to those who have no might He increases strength. The voice of him who cries out, “Prepare the way of the Lord in the wilderness, make straight in the desert a highway for our God.Even the youths shall faint and be weary, and the young men shall utterly fall, but those who wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles, they shall run and not be weary, and they shall walk and not faint.
For I, the Lord your God, will hold your right hand, saying to you, “Do not fear; I will help you.”
But now, thus says the Lord who created you, O Jacob, and He who formed you, O Israel: Do not fear, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by your name; you are Mine. You are My witnesses, says the Lord, and My servant whom I have chosen that you may know and believe Me, and understand that I am He. Before Me there was no God formed, nor shall there be after Me.I, even I, am the Lord, and besides Me there is no savior.I have declared, and have saved, and I have shown, when there was no strange god among you; therefore, you are My witnesses, says the Lord, that I am God.Indeed, from eternity I am He; there is no one who can deliver out of My hand; I act, and who can reverse it?Thus says the Lord, your Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel: For your sake I have sent to Babylon, and have brought down all their nobles, and the Chaldeans, into the ships in which they rejoice.I am the Lord, your Holy One, the Creator of Israel, your King. Thus says the Lord, who makes a way in the sea and a path in the mighty waters, who brings forth the chariot and horse, the army and the mighty men (they shall lie down together, they shall not rise; they are extinguished, they are quenched like a wick):Do not remember the former things nor consider the things of old.Behold, I will do a new thing, now it shall spring forth; shall you not be aware of it? I will even make a way in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert. When you pass through waters, I will be with you. And through the rivers, they shall not overflow you. When you walk through the fire, you shall not be burned, nor shall the flame kindle on you.
I have blotted out, as a thick cloud, your transgressions, and your sins, as a cloud. Return to Me, for I have redeemed you.
But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities; the chastisement of our peace was upon him, and by his stripes we are healed.
Is not this the fast that I have chosen: to loose the bonds of wickedness, to undo the heavy burdens, and to let the oppressed go free, and break every yoke?
Heal me, O Lord, and I will be healed; save me, and I will be saved, for You are my praise.
For I know the plans that I have for you, says the Lord, plans for peace and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.
Also, I will give you a new heart, and a new spirit I will put within you. And I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you a heart of flesh.I will put My Spirit within you and cause you to walk in My statutes, and you will keep My judgments and do them.
Do not rejoice over me, my enemy! Although I have fallen, I will rise; although I dwell in darkness, the Lord is my light.
And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one. For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.
But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be given to you.
“Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavily burdened, and I will give you rest.Take My yoke upon you, and learn from Me. For I am meek and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.and said to Him, “Are You He who should come, or should we look for another?”For My yoke is easy, and My burden is light.”
He said to her, “Daughter, your faith has made you well. Go in peace, and be healed of your affliction.”
“The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me, because He has anointed Me to preach the gospel to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the broken-hearted, to preach deliverance to the captives and recovery of sight to the blind, to set at liberty those who are oppressed;
“For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.
Again, Jesus spoke to them, saying, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows Me shall not walk in the darkness, but shall have the light of life.”
The thief does not come, except to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.
Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.
Peace I leave with you. My peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.
“I am the vine, you are the branches. He who remains in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit. For without Me you can do nothing.
“I have told you these things so that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have distress. But be of good cheer. I have overcome the world.”
But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.
knowing this, that our old man has been crucified with Him, so that the body of sin might be destroyed, and we should no longer be slaves to sin.
Therefore do not let sin reign in your mortal body, that you should obey it in its lusts.Do not yield your members to sin as instruments of unrighteousness, but yield yourselves to God, as those who are alive from the dead, and your bodies to God as instruments of righteousness.
Do you not know that to whom you yield yourselves as slaves to obey, you are slaves of the one whom you obey, whether of sin leading to death, or of obedience leading to righteousness? But thanks be to God, for you were slaves of sin, but you have obeyed from the heart that form of teaching to which you were entrusted, and having been freed from sin, you became the slaves of righteousness.
There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, who walk not according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit. And if Christ is in you, though the body is dead because of sin, the Spirit is alive because of righteousness. But if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead lives in you, He who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit that lives in you. Therefore, brothers, we are debtors not to the flesh, to live according to the flesh. For if you live according to the flesh, you will die, but if through the Spirit you put to death the deeds of the body, you will live. For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are the sons of God.For you have not received the spirit of slavery again to fear. But you have received the Spirit of adoption, by whom we cry, “Abba, Father.”The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirits that we are the children of God,and if children, then heirs: heirs of God and joint-heirs with Christ, if indeed we suffer with Him, that we may also be glorified with Him.For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed to us.The eager expectation of the creation waits for the appearance of the sons of God.For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has set me free from the law of sin and death.
But if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead lives in you, He who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit that lives in you.
We know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose.
I urge you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy, and acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service of worship.Be devoted to one another with brotherly love; prefer one another in honor,do not be lazy in diligence, be fervent in spirit, serve the Lord, rejoice in hope, be patient in suffering, persevere in prayer, contribute to the needs of the saints, practice hospitality.Bless those who persecute you; bless, and do not curse.Rejoice with those who rejoice, and weep with those who weep.Be of the same mind toward one another. Do not be haughty, but associate with the lowly. Do not pretend to be wiser than you are.Repay no one evil for evil. Commend what is honest in the sight of all men.If it is possible, as much as it depends on you, live peaceably with all men.Beloved, do not avenge yourselves, but rather give place to God’s wrath, for it is written: “Vengeance is Mine. I will repay,” says the Lord.Do not be conformed to this age, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is the good and acceptable and complete will of God.
The night is far spent, the day is at hand. Therefore let us take off the works of darkness and put on the armor of light.Let us behave properly, as in the day, not in carousing and drunkenness, not in immorality and wickedness, not in strife and envy. But put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the flesh to fulfill its lusts.
What? Do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God, and that you are not your own?Do you not know that the saints will judge the world? If the world will be judged by you, are you unworthy to judge the smallest matters? You were bought with a price. Therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s.
What agreement has the temple of God with idols? For you are the temple of the living God. As God has said: “I will live in them and walk in them. I will be their God, and they shall be My people.”Therefore, “Come out from among them and be separate, says the Lord. Do not touch what is unclean, and I will receive you.”“I will be a Father to you, and you shall be My sons and daughters, says the Lord Almighty.”
For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh. For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God for the pulling down of strongholds, casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ,
I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in my body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me.
Stand fast therefore in the liberty by which Christ has set us free, and be not entangled again with a yoke of bondage.
Now the works of the flesh are revealed, which are these: adultery, sexual immorality, impurity, lewdness,Indeed I, Paul, say to you that if you become circumcised, Christ will profit you nothing.idolatry, sorcery, hatred, strife, jealousy, rage, selfishness, dissensions, heresies, envy, murders, drunkenness, carousing, and the like. I warn you, as I previously warned you, that those who do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, and self-control; against such there is no law.
that you put off the former way of life in the old nature, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts, and be renewed in the spirit of your mind;and that you put on the new nature, which was created according to God in righteousness and true holiness.
For you were formerly darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Walk as children of light —
Do not be drunk with wine, for that is reckless living. But be filled with the Spirit.
Finally, my brothers, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might.Put on the whole armor of God that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil.
I am confident of this very thing, that He who began a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ.
Be anxious for nothing, but in everything, by prayer and supplication with gratitude, make your requests known to God.And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will protect your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
Finally, brothers, whatever things are true, whatever things are honest, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue, and if there is any praise, think on these things.
He has delivered us from the power of darkness and has transferred us into the kingdom of His dear Son,in whom we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins.
Therefore put to death the parts of your earthly nature: sexual immorality, impurity, inordinate affection, evil desire, and covetousness, which is idolatry.
For this is the will of God, your sanctification: that you should abstain from sexual immorality, that each one of you should know how to possess his own body in sanctification and honor,
Therefore let us not sleep as others do. But let us be alert and sober. For those who sleep, sleep at night, and those who get drunk, are drunk at night. But let us, who are of the day, be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love, and as a helmet, the hope of salvation.
Abstain from all appearances of evil.May the very God of peace sanctify you completely. And I pray to God that your whole spirit, soul, and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.
So flee youthful desires and pursue righteousness, faith, love, and peace, with those who call on the Lord out of a pure heart.
teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly desires, we should live soberly, righteously, and in godliness in this present world,
For since He Himself suffered while being tempted, He is able to help those who are being tempted.
For we do not have a High Priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but One who was in every sense tempted like we are, yet without sin.Let us then come with confidence to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.
Let us firmly hold the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful.
Therefore, since we are encompassed with such a great cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight and the sin that so easily entangles us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us.For they indeed disciplined us for a short time according to their own judgment, but He does so for our profit, that we may partake of His holiness. Now no discipline seems to be joyful at the time, but grievous. Yet afterward it yields the peaceful fruit of righteousness in those who have been trained by it.Therefore lift up your tired hands, and strengthen your weak knees.Make straight paths for your feet, lest that which is lame go out of joint, but rather be healed.Pursue peace with all men, and the holiness without which no one will see the Lord, watching diligently so that no one falls short of the grace of God, lest any root of bitterness spring up to cause trouble, and many become defiled by it,lest there be any sexually immoral or profane person, as Esau, who for one morsel of food sold his birthright. For you know that afterward, when he wanted to inherit the blessing, he was rejected. For he found no place for repentance, though he sought it diligently with tears. You have not come to a mountain that can be touched and that burned with fire, and to blackness and darkness and storm, and to the sound of a trumpet and to a voice speaking words, such that those who heard them begged that the word not be spoken to them anymore.Let us look to Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God.
If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all men liberally and without criticism, and it will be given to him.
Blessed is the man who endures temptation, for when he is tried, he will receive the crown of life, which the Lord has promised to those who love Him.
Let no man say when he is tempted, “I am tempted by God,” for God cannot be tempted with evil; neither does He tempt anyone. But each man is tempted when he is drawn away by his own lust and enticed. Then, when lust has conceived, it brings forth sin; and when sin is finished, it brings forth death.
Therefore, prepare your minds for action; be sober, and set your hope fully upon the grace that will be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ. As obedient children do not conduct yourselves according to the former lusts in your ignorance. But as He who has called you is holy, so be holy in all your conduct, because it is written, “Be holy, for I am holy.”
Be sober and watchful, because your adversary the devil walks around as a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour.Resist him firmly in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are experienced by your brotherhood throughout the world.
If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
