Addiction and bad habits can be so destructive. Think about it, addiction is clinging to something—a behavior, a substance, an activity, even a person—that's actually harming you. So many of us struggle with these things, feeling trapped by a vice or an addiction. Sometimes, we feel like it's because of our past.
But here's the truth: in God, we're free. Christ set us free from all of that and forgave our sins. If you keep dwelling on the past, those chains can really hold you back. Sometimes, these struggles can even stem from negative spiritual influences, finding a foothold and coming to light when we unknowingly open a door, giving the enemy a legal right to step in.
You have the power to let go of what's binding you. Ask the Holy Spirit to reveal any areas of bondage you need to address. Receive God's forgiveness and His healing. He's there for you.
I pray that we all find freedom from anything that's hurting us and holding us back. Just like it says in John 8:36, "So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed."
And this shall happen: on that day, he will remove his burden from your shoulder and his yoke from your neck, and a yoke will be destroyed because of fat.
Jesus replied to them, “Truly, truly I say to you, that everyone who commits sin is a slave of sin.
All things are permitted for me, but not all things are profitable. All things are permitted for me, but I will not be controlled by anything.
Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old things have passed away; behold, new things have come.
Temptation has not come upon you except what is common to humanity. But God is faithful, who will not permit you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but will also make a way out together with the temptation, so that you may be able to endure it.
But put on the Lord Jesus Christ and do not make provision for the desires of the flesh.
Yahweh is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer, my God, my rock in whom I have taken refuge, my shield and the horn of my deliverance, my stronghold.
Stay awake and pray that you will not enter into temptation. The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak!”
Yahweh is my shepherd; I will not lack for anything. In grassy pastures he makes me lie down; by quiet waters he leads me.He restores my life. He leads me in correct paths for the sake of his name.Even when I walk in a dark valley, I fear no evil because you are with me. Your rod and your staff, they comfort me.
because everything that is in the world—the desire of the flesh and the desire of the eyes and the arrogance of material possessions—is not from the Father, but is from the world.
Trust Yahweh with all your heart; do not lean toward your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will straighten your paths.
They cry out and Yahweh hears and delivers them from all of their troubles.Yahweh is near to those who are heartbroken and saves those who are crushed in spirit.
For you, O Lord, are good and forgiving, and abundant in loyal love for all who call to you.
You must not fear, for I am with you; you must not be afraid, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, indeed I will help you, indeed I will take hold of you with the right hand of my salvation.
One who lives in the secret place of the Most High will lodge in the shadow of Shaddai. No harm will befall you, and no plague will come near your tent. For he will command his angels concerning you, to watch over you in all your ways.In their hands they will bear you up, lest you strike your foot against a stone. You will tread on lion and viper; you will trample young lion and serpent.Because he loves me, therefore I will deliver him; I will protect him because he knows my name.He will call upon me and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble; I will rescue and honor him. With long life I will satisfy him, and show him my salvation.I will say to Yahweh, “You are my refuge and my fortress, my God in whom I trust.”
Bless Yahweh, O my soul, and do not forget all his benefits:Bless Yahweh, you his angels, you mighty heroes who do his word by obeying the sound of his word.Bless Yahweh, all you his hosts, you his attendants who do his will.Bless Yahweh, all his works, in all the places of his dominion. Bless Yahweh, O my soul.who forgives all your iniquity, who heals all your diseases, who redeems your life from the pit, who crowns you with loyal love and mercies,
Then they called to Yahweh for help in their trouble; he saved them from their distresses. He brought them out of darkness and gloom, and tore off their bonds.
Can a man carry fire in his lap, and his clothes not burn?If a man walks upon the hot coals, will his feet not be burned?
You, my child, hear and be wise, and direct your heart on the road.and you shall put a knife to your throat if you have a big appetite.Do not be among drinkers of wine, among gluttonous eaters of their meat. For the drunkard and gluttonous, they will become poor, and with rags, drowsiness will clothe them.
To whom is woe? To whom is sorrow? To whom are quarrels? To whom is complaint? To whom are wounds without cause? To whom is redness of the eyes?Do not desire his delicacies, for it is food of deception. To those who linger over wine, to those who come to try mixed wine.Do not look at wine when it is red, when it sparkles on the cup, going down smoothly. In the end, it will bite like a serpent, and it will sting like an adder.
A breached city where there is no wall is like a man who has no self-control for his spirit.
You will protect a firm inclination in peace, in peace because he trusts in you.Trust in Yahweh forever, for in Yah, Yahweh you have an everlasting rock.
He gives power to the weary, and he increases power for the powerless.A voice is calling in the wilderness, “Clear the way of Yahweh! Make a highway smooth in the desert for our God!Even young people will be faint and grow weary, and the young will stumble, exhausted. But those who wait for Yahweh shall renew their strength. They shall go up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not grow weary; they shall walk and not be faint.
For I, Yahweh your God, am grasping your right hand; it is I who say to you, “You must not fear; I myself, I will help you.
But now thus says Yahweh, he who created you, Jacob, and he who formed you, Israel: “You must not fear, for I have redeemed you. I have called you by your name; you are mine.“You are my witnesses,” declares Yahweh, “and my servant whom I have chosen so that you may know and believe in me and understand that I am he. No god was formed before me, and none shall be after me.I myself am Yahweh, and there is no savior besides me!I myself declared and saved, and I proclaimed. And there was no strange god among you. And you are my witnesses,” declares Yahweh, “and I am God.Indeed, from this day I am the one, and no one can deliver from my hand. I perform, and who can cancel it?”Thus says Yahweh, your redeemer, the holy one of Israel: “For your sake I will send to Babylon, and I will cause all of them to fall down as fugitives, and the Chaldeans, their rejoicing on the ships.I am Yahweh, your holy one, the creator of Israel, your king.”Thus says Yahweh, who makes a way in the sea and a path in the mighty waters, who brings out chariot and horse, army and mighty one. Together they lie down; they cannot rise. They are extinguished, quenched like a wick.“You must not remember the former things, and you not must consider the former things.Look! I am about to do a new thing! Now it sprouts! Do you not perceive it? Indeed, I will make a way in the wilderness, rivers in the desert. When you pass through the waters, I will be with you, and through the rivers, they shall not flow over you. When you walk through fire, you shall not be burned, and the flame shall not scorch you.
I have wiped your transgressions out like a cloud and your sins like mist. Return to me, for I have redeemed you!
But he was pierced because of our transgressions, crushed because of our iniquities; the chastisement for our peace was upon him, and by his wounds we were healed.
Is this not the fast I choose: to release the bonds of injustice, to untie the ropes of the yoke, and to let the oppressed go free, and tear every yoke to pieces?
Heal me, O Yahweh, and I will be healed, save me, and I will be saved, for you are my praise.
For I know the plans that I am planning concerning you,’ declares Yahweh, ‘plans for prosperity and not for harm, to give to you a future and a hope.
And I will give a new heart to you, and a new spirit I will give into your inner parts, and I will remove the heart of stone from your flesh, and I will give to you a heart of flesh. And I will give my spirit into your inner parts, and I will make it so that you will go in my rules, and my regulations you will remember, and you will do them.
You should not rejoice over me, O my enemy! When I fall I will stand up; when I sit in darkness Yahweh will be a light for me.
But seek first his kingdom and righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.
Come to me, all of you who labor and are burdened, and I will give you rest.Take my yoke on you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.and said to him, “Are you the one who is to come, or should we look for another?”For my yoke is easy to carry and my burden is light.”
But he said to her, “Daughter, your faith has healed you. Go in peace and be well from your suffering.”
“The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because of which he has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim release to the captives, and recovery of sight to the blind, to send out in freedom those who are oppressed,
For in this way God loved the world, so that he gave his one and only Son, in order that everyone who believes in him will not perish, but will have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world in order that he should judge the world, but in order that the world should be saved through him.
Then Jesus spoke to them again, saying, “I am the light of the world! The one who follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”
The thief comes only so that he can steal and kill and destroy; I have come so that they may have life, and have it abundantly.
Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.
“Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you—not as the world gives, I give to you. Do not let your hearts be troubled, and do not let them be afraid.
“I am the vine; you are the branches. The one who remains in me and I in him—this one bears much fruit, for apart from me you are not able to do anything.
I have said these things to you so that in me you may have peace. In the world you have affliction, but have courage! I have conquered the world.”
but God demonstrates his own love for us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
knowing this, that our old man was crucified together with him, in order that the body of sin may be done away with, that we may no longer be enslaved to sin.
Therefore do not let sin reign in your mortal body, so that you obey its desires, and do not present your members to sin as instruments of unrighteousness, but present yourselves to God as those who are alive from the dead, and your members to God as instruments of righteousness.
Do you not know that to whomever you present yourselves as slaves for obedience, you are slaves to whomever you obey, whether sin, leading to death, or obedience, leading to righteousness? But thanks be to God that you were slaves of sin, but you have obeyed from the heart the pattern of teaching to which you were entrusted, and having been set free from sin, you became enslaved to righteousness.
Consequently, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. But if Christ is in you, the body is dead because of sin, but the Spirit is life because of righteousness. And if the Spirit of the one who raised Jesus from the dead lives in you, the one who raised Christ Jesus from the dead will also make alive your mortal bodies through his Spirit who lives in you.So then, brothers, we are obligated not to the flesh, to live according to the flesh. For if you live according to the flesh, you are going to die, but if by the Spirit you put to death the deeds of the body, you will live. For all those who are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God.For you have not received a spirit of slavery leading to fear again, but you have received the Spirit of adoption, by whom we cry out, “Abba! Father!”The Spirit himself confirms to our spirit that we are children of God,and if children, also heirs—heirs of God and fellow heirs with Christ, if indeed we suffer together with him so that we may also be glorified together with him.For I consider that the sufferings of the present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory that is about to be revealed to us.For the eagerly expecting creation awaits eagerly the revelation of the sons of God.For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has set you free from the law of sin and death.
And if the Spirit of the one who raised Jesus from the dead lives in you, the one who raised Christ Jesus from the dead will also make alive your mortal bodies through his Spirit who lives in you.
And we know that all things work together for good for those who love God, for those who are called according to his purpose,
Therefore I exhort you, brothers, through the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God, which is your reasonable service.being devoted to one another in brotherly love, esteeming one another more highly in honor, not lagging in diligence, being enthusiastic in spirit, serving the Lord, rejoicing in hope, enduring in affliction, being devoted to prayer, contributing to the needs of the saints, pursuing hospitality.Bless those who persecute, bless and do not curse them.Rejoice with those who rejoice; weep with those who weep.Think the same thing toward one another; do not think arrogantly, but associate with the lowly. Do not be wise in your own sight.Pay back no one evil for evil. Take thought for what is good in the sight of all people. If it is possible on your part, be at peace with all people.Do not take revenge yourselves, dear friends, but give place to God’s wrath, for it is written, “Vengeance is mine, I will repay,” says the Lord. And do not be conformed to this age, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, so that you may approve what is the good and well-pleasing and perfect will of God.
The night is far gone, and the day has drawn near. Therefore let us throw off the deeds of darkness and put on the weapons of light.Let us live decently, as in the day, not in carousing and drunkenness, not in sexual immorality and licentiousness, not in strife and jealousy. But put on the Lord Jesus Christ and do not make provision for the desires of the flesh.
Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own?Or do you not know that the saints will judge the world? And if by you the world is judged, are you unworthy of the most insignificant courts? For you were bought at a price; therefore glorify God with your body.
And what agreement does the temple of God have with idols? For we are the temple of the living God, just as God said, “I will live in them and will walk about among them, and I will be their God and they will be my people.”Therefore “come out from their midst and be separate,” says the Lord, “and do not touch what is unclean, and I will welcome you,and I will be a father to you, and you will be sons and daughters to me,” says the all-powerful Lord.
For although we are living in the flesh, we do not wage war according to the flesh, for the weapons of our warfare are not merely human, but powerful to God for the tearing down of fortresses, tearing down argumentsand all pride that is raised up against the knowledge of God, and taking every thought captive to the obedience of Christ.
and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me, and that life I now live in the flesh, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.
For freedom Christ has set us free. Stand firm, therefore, and do not be subject again to a yoke of slavery.
Now the deeds of the flesh are evident, which are sexual immorality, impurity, licentiousness,Look! I, Paul, tell you that if you become circumcised, Christ will profit you nothing!idolatry, sorcery, enmity, strife, jealousy, outbursts of anger, selfish ambition, dissension, factions, envy, drunkenness, carousing, and things like these, things which I am telling you in advance, just as I said before, that the ones who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self control. Against such things there is no law.
that you take off, according to your former way of life, the old man, who is being destroyed according to deceitful desires,be renewed in the spirit of your mind, and put on the new man (in accordance with God), who is created in righteousness and holiness from the truth.
for you were formerly darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Live like children of light
Finally, become strong in the Lord and in the might of his strength.Put on the full armor of God, so that you may be able to stand against the stratagems of the devil,
convinced of this same thing, that the one who began a good work in you will finish it until the day of Christ Jesus,
Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.And the peace of God that surpasses all understanding will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
Finally, brothers, whatever things are true, whatever things are honorable, whatever things are right, whatever things are pure, whatever things are pleasing, whatever things are commendable, if there is any excellence of character and if anything praiseworthy, think about these things.
who has rescued us from the domain of darkness and transferred us to the kingdom of the Son he loves,in whom we have the redemption, the forgiveness of sins,
Therefore put to death what is earthly in you: sexual immorality, uncleanness, lustful passion, evil desire, and greediness, which is idolatry,
For this is the will of God, your sanctification: that you abstain from sexual immorality;that each of you know how to possess his own vessel in sanctification and honor,
So then, we must not sleep like the rest, but must be on the alert and be self-controlled.For those who sleep, sleep at night, and those who get drunk, are drunk at night. But because we are of the day, we must be sober, by putting on the breastplate of faith and love and as a helmet the hope of salvation,
Abstain from every form of evil. Now may the God of peace himself sanctify you completely, and may your spirit and soul and body be kept complete, blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.
For God has not given us a spirit of cowardice, but of power and love and self-discipline.
But flee from youthful desires, and pursue righteousness, faith, love, and peace, in company with those who call upon the Lord from a pure heart.
training us in order that, denying impiety and worldly desires, we may live self-controlled and righteously and godly in the present age,
For in that which he himself suffered when he was tempted, he is able to help those who are tempted.
For we do not have a high priest who is not able to sympathize with our weaknesses, but who has been tempted in all things in the same way, without sin. Therefore let us approach with confidence to the throne of grace, in order that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need.
Let us hold fast to the confession of our hope without wavering, for the one who promised is faithful.
Therefore, since we also have such a great cloud of witnesses surrounding us, putting aside every weight and the sin that so easily ensnares us, let us run with patient endurance the race that has been set before us,For they disciplined us for a few days according to what seemed appropriate to them, but he does so for our benefit, in order that we can have a share in his holiness. Now all discipline seems for the moment not to be joyful but painful, but later it yields the peaceful fruit of righteousness for those who are trained by it.Therefore strengthen your slackened hands and your weakened knees, and make straight paths for your feet, so that what is lame will not be dislocated, but rather be healed.Pursue peace with everyone, and holiness, without which no one will see the Lord.Take care that no one falls short of the grace of God; that no one growing up like a root of bitterness causes trouble, and by it many become defiled;that no one be a sexually immoral or totally worldly person like Esau, who for one meal traded his own birthright. For you know that also afterwards, when he wanted to inherit the blessing, he was rejected, because he did not find an occasion for repentance, although he sought it with tears. For you have not come to something that can be touched, and to a burning fire, and to darkness, and to gloom, and to a whirlwind, and to the noise of a trumpet, and to the sound of words which those who heard begged that not another word be spoken to them.fixing our eyes on Jesus, the originator and perfecter of faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, disregarding the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.
Now if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask for it from God, who gives to all without reservation and not reproaching, and it will be given to him.
Blessed is the person who endures testing, because when he is approved he will receive the crown of life that he has promised to those who love him.
No one who is being tempted should say, “I am being tempted by God,” for God cannot be tempted by evil, and he himself tempts no one.But each one is tempted when he is dragged away and enticed by his own desires. Then desire, after it has conceived, gives birth to sin, and sin, when it is brought to completion, gives birth to death.
Therefore, when you have prepared your minds for action by being self-controlled, put your hope completely in the grace that will be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ. As obedient children, do not be conformed to the former desires you used to conform to in your ignorance, but as the one who called you is holy, you yourselves be holy in all your conduct, for it is written, “You will be holy, because I am holy.”
Be sober; be on the alert. Your adversary the devil walks around like a roaring lion, looking for someone to devour.Resist him, steadfast in your faith, because you know the same kinds of sufferings are being accomplished by your community of believers in the world.
If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just, so that he will forgive us our sins and will cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
