Addiction and bad habits can be so destructive. Think about it, addiction is clinging to something—a behavior, a substance, an activity, even a person—that's actually harming you. So many of us struggle with these things, feeling trapped by a vice or an addiction. Sometimes, we feel like it's because of our past.
But here's the truth: in God, we're free. Christ set us free from all of that and forgave our sins. If you keep dwelling on the past, those chains can really hold you back. Sometimes, these struggles can even stem from negative spiritual influences, finding a foothold and coming to light when we unknowingly open a door, giving the enemy a legal right to step in.
You have the power to let go of what's binding you. Ask the Holy Spirit to reveal any areas of bondage you need to address. Receive God's forgiveness and His healing. He's there for you.
I pray that we all find freedom from anything that's hurting us and holding us back. Just like it says in John 8:36, "So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed."
And it shall be in that day, his burden shall turn away from on your shoulder, and his yoke from your neck; and the yoke shall be destroyed because of the anointing oil.
Jesus answered them, Truly, truly, I say to you, Everyone practicing sin is a slave of sin.
All things are lawful to me, but not all things are profitable. All things are lawful to me, but I will not be subjected by any.
So then if anyone is in Christ, that one is a new creation; the old things have passed away; behold, all things have come to be new!
No temptation has taken you if not a human one; but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted above what you are able. But with the temptation, He will also make the way out, so as for you to be able to bear it.
But put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and do not make forethought of the flesh, for its lusts.
Jehovah is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer; He is my God, my Rock; I seek refuge in Him; He is my shield and the horn of my salvation, my high tower.
Keep awake, that you do not enter into temptation. The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.
A Psalm of David. Jehovah is my shepherd; I shall not lack.He makes me lie down in green pastures; He leads me to waters of rest;He restores my soul; He guides me in paths of righteousness for His name’s sake.Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death I will fear no evil; for You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.
because everything in the world: the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not from the Father, but is from the world.
“casting all your anxiety onto Him,” because it matters to Him concerning you. LXX-Psa. 54:23; MT-Psa. 55:22
Trust in Jehovah with all your heart, and lean not to your own understanding;in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths.
The righteous ones cry, and Jehovah hears; and He saves them out of all their distresses.Jehovah is near to the broken of heart; and He saves the crushed of spirit.
Do not fear, for I am with you; do not gaze about, for I am your God; I will make you strong; yea, I will help you; yea, I will uphold you with the right hand of My righteousness.
He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High shall abide in the shade of the Almighty.I will say to Jehovah: my Refuge and my Fortress, my God; I will trust in Him.
Bless Jehovah, O my soul, and forget not all His benefits;He who forgives all your iniquities; who heals all your diseases;who redeems your life from destruction; who crowns you with kindness and tender mercies;
and they cried to Jehovah in their distress; He saved them out of their straits;He brought them out from darkness and the shadow of death; and He tore off their bonds.
Can a man take fire into his bosom and his clothes not be burned?Or can a man walk on hot coals and his feet not be burned?
Wine is a mocker, strong liquor is stirring, and each one straying by it is not being wise.
My son, hear you, and be wise, and advance your heart in the way.Be not among heavy drinkers of wine, with a glutton of flesh to themselves,for the drunkard and the one being a glutton lose all, and with drowsiness shall clothe one with rags.
To whom is woe, to whom is sorrow? To whom are there contentions, to whom is babbling? To whom are wounds without cause? To whom are brilliant eyes?Those who stay long at the wine, those who go to seek mixed wine.Do not look at the wine when it is red, when it gives its sparkle in the cup, when it goes down smoothly,at its last it bites like a snake, and it stings like a viper.
A man to whom there is no control to his spirit is like a broken down city without a wall.
You will keep in peace, perfect peace the mind sustained by You, for he trusts in You.Trust in Jehovah forever, for in Jah Jehovah is an everlasting Rock.
He gives strength to the faint, and to him with no vigor He increases power.Even youths are faint and weary, and young men stumbling shall stumble;but the ones waiting for Jehovah shall renew strength; they shall go up with wings as the eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not be faint!
For I Jehovah your God am strengthening your right hand, who says to you, Do not fear, I will help you.
But now so says Jehovah who created you, O Jacob; and He who formed you, O Israel: Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I called you by your name; you are to Me.When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow you. When you walk in the fire, you shall not be burned, and not shall the flame kindle on you.
I have blotted out your transgressions like a cloud; and your sins like a cloud. Turn back to Me, for I have redeemed you.
But He was pierced for our transgressions; He was crushed for our iniquities; the chastisement of our peace was upon Him, and with His wounds we ourselves are healed.
this is not the fast I have chosen: to open bands of wickedness, to undo thongs of the yoke, and to send out free the ones being oppressed, and that you pull off every yoke?
Heal me, O Jehovah, and I will be healed; save me, and I will be saved; for You are my praise.
For I know the purposes which I am planning for you, a statement of Jehovah; purposes of peace, and not for evil; to give you a latter time and a hope.
And I will also give you a new heart, and I will put a new spirit within you. And I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give to you a heart of flesh.And I will put My Spirit within you, and I have done that which is in My statutes for you to walk in them, and you shall keep My judgments and do them.
Rejoice not against me, my enemy; for if I fall, I shall arise. For if I sit in darkness, Jehovah is a light to me.
And do not lead us into temptation, but deliver us from the evil, for Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory, to the ages. Amen.
But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.
Come to Me, all those laboring and being burdened, and I will give you rest.Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, because I am meek and lowly in heart, “and you will find rest to your souls.” Jer. 6:16For My yoke is easy, and My burden is light.
And He said to her, Daughter, your faith has healed you. Go in peace and be well from your plague.
“The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me. Because of this He anointed Me to proclaim the gospel to the poor ones; He has sent Me” to heal those being broken in heart, “to proclaim freedom to captives, and to the blind ones to see again,” to send away in freedom the ones being crushed,
For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that everyone believing into Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.For God did not send His Son into the world that He might judge the world, but that the world might be saved through Him.
Then Jesus again spoke to them, saying, I am the Light of the world. The one following Me will not walk in the darkness, not ever, but will have the light of life.
The thief does not come except that he may steal, and kill, and destroy. I came that they may have life and may have it abundantly.
Jesus says to him, I am the Way, and the Truth, and the Life. No one comes to the Father if not through Me.
Peace I leave to you; My peace I give to you. Not as the world gives I give to you. Let not your heart be agitated, nor let it be fearful.
I am the Vine; you are the branches. The one abiding in Me, and I in him, this one bears much fruit, because without Me you are not able to produce, not one thing.
I have spoken these things to you that you may have peace in Me. You have distress in the world; but have courage, I have overcome the world.
knowing this, that our old man was crucified with Him, that the body of sin might be done away with, so that we no longer serve sin.
Therefore do not let sin reign in your mortal body, to obey it in its lusts.Neither present your members as instruments of unrighteousness to sin, but present yourselves to God as one living from the dead, and your members instruments of righteousness to God.
Do you not know that to whom you present yourselves as slaves for obedience, you are slaves to whom you obey, whether of sin to death, or obedience to righteousness?But thanks be to God that you were slaves of sin, but you obeyed from the heart a form of doctrine to which you were given over.But having been set free from sin, you were enslaved to righteousness.
There is therefore now no condemnation to the ones in Christ Jesus, not walking according to flesh, but according to Spirit.For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus set me free from the law of sin and of death.
But if the Spirit of the One having raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, the One having raised the Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through the indwelling of His Spirit in you.
But we know that to the ones loving God all things work together for good, to the ones being called out ones according to purpose;
Therefore, brothers, I call on you through the compassions of God to present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, pleasing to God, which is your reasonable service.And be not conformed to this age, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, in order to prove by you what is the good and pleasing and perfect will of God.
The night is advanced, and the day has drawn near; therefore let us cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the weapons of the light.Let us walk becomingly, as in the day, not in revelries and drunkenness, not in cohabitations and lustful acts, not in strife and envy.But put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and do not make forethought of the flesh, for its lusts.
Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit in you, which you have from God, and you are not of yourselves?You were bought with a price; then glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are of God.
And what agreement does a temple of God have with idols? For you are a temple of the living God, even as God said, “I will” dwell in them and “walk among them, and I will be their God, and they shall be My people.” Lev. 26:12; Ezek. 37:27Because of this, “come out from among them” “and be separated,” says the Lord, “and do not touch the unclean thing,” and I will receive you. Isa. 52:11“And I will be a Father to you, and you will be sons” and daughters to Me, says the Lord Almighty. 2 Sam. 7:8, 14; Isa. 43:6
For walking about in flesh, we do not war according to flesh;for the weapons of our warfare are not fleshly, but powerful to God to the demolition of strongholds,demolishing reasonings and every high thing lifting up itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought into the obedience of Christ,
I have been crucified with Christ, and I live; yet no longer I, but Christ lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh, I live in faith in the Son of God, the One loving me and giving Himself over on my behalf.
Therefore stand firm in the freedom with which Christ made us free and do not be held again with a yoke of slavery.
Now the works of the flesh are clearly revealed, which are: adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lustfulness,idolatry, sorcery, enmities, fightings, jealousies, angers, intrigues, dissensions, heresies,envyings, murders, drunkennesses, revelings, and things like these; of which I tell you beforehand, even as I also said before, that the ones practicing such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.
But the fruit of the Spirit is: love, joy, peace, long-suffering, kindness, goodness, faith,meekness, self-control. Against such things there is not a law.
for you to put off the old man, as regards the former behavior, the one being corrupted according to the deceitful lusts,and to be renewed in the spirit of your mind,and to put on the new man, the one being created according to God in righteousness and holiness of truth.
And “do not be drunk with wine,” in which is debauchery, but be filled by the Spirit, Prov. 23:31
For the rest, my brothers, be made powerful in the Lord and in the might of His strength.Put on the full armor of God, for you to be able to stand against the wiles of the devil,
being persuaded of this very thing, that the One having begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ;
for it is God who is working in you both to will and to work for the sake of His good pleasure.
Be anxious about nothing, but in everything by prayer and by petition with thanksgivings, let your requests be made known to God;and the peace of God which surpasses all understanding will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
For the rest, brothers, as many things as are true, as many as are honorable, as many as are right, as many as are pure, as many as are pleasing, as many as are of good report, if of any virtue, and if of any praise, meditate on these things.
who delivered us out of the authority of darkness, and transferred us into the kingdom of the Son of His love,in whom we have redemption through His blood, the remission of sins;
Therefore put to death your members which are on the earth: fornication, uncleanness, passion; bad lust, and covetousness, which is idolatry;
But now, you also, put off all these things: wrath, anger, malice, foul-speaking, shameful speech out of your mouth.Do not lie to one another, having put off the old man with his practices,and having put on the new, being renewed unto full knowledge according to the image of the One creating him,
For this is God’s will, your sanctification, for you to abstain from fornication,each one of you to know to possess his vessel in sanctification and honor,
So then, we should not sleep, as the rest also do, but we should be awake and be sober.For the ones sleeping sleep by night, and the ones being drunk are drunk by night.But we being of day should be sober, “having put on the breastplate” of faith and love, and the hope of “salvation as a helmet;” Isa. 59:17
Keep back from every form of evil.And may the God of peace Himself fully sanctify you, and may your whole spirit and soul and body be kept blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.
For God did not give a spirit of cowardice to us, but of power and of love and of self-control.
But flee youthful lust and pursue righteousness, faith, love, peace, with the ones calling on the Lord out of a pure heart.
instructing us that having denied ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live prudently and righteously and godly in the now age,
For we do not have a high priest not being able to sympathize with our infirmities, but One having been tried according in all things according to our likeness, apart from sin.Therefore, let us draw near with confidence to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy, and we may find grace for timely help.
let us hold fast the confession of the hope unyielding, for the One having promised is faithful.
So therefore we also, having so great a cloud of witnesses lying around us, having laid aside every weight and the easily surrounding sin, through patience let us also run the race being set before us,looking to the Author and Finisher of our faith, Jesus, who for the joy set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, “and has sat down at the right hand” of the throne of God.”
But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask from God, the One giving to all bountifully and not reproaching, and it will be given to Him.
Blessed is the man who endures temptation, because, becoming approved, he will receive the crown of life which the Lord promised to the ones loving Him.
Let no one being tempted say, I am tempted from God. For God is not temptable by evils, and He tempts no one.But each one is tempted by his own lusts, being drawn out and being enticed by them.Then, having conceived, lust brings forth sin. And sin being fully formed brings forth death.
Therefore, having girded up the loins of your mind, being sober, completely hope on the grace being borne to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ,as children of obedience, not being conformed yourselves to your former lusts in your ignorance,but according to the Holy One having called you is holy, yourselves also become holy in all conduct;because it has been written, “Be holy,” “because I am holy”. Lev. 19:2
Be self-controlled. Be watchful, because your adversary the devil walks about as a roaring lion seeking someone he may devour;whom firmly resist in the faith, knowing the same sufferings are being completed in your brotherhood in the world.
If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous that He may forgive us the sins, and may cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
