Addiction and bad habits can be so destructive. Think about it, addiction is clinging to something—a behavior, a substance, an activity, even a person—that's actually harming you. So many of us struggle with these things, feeling trapped by a vice or an addiction. Sometimes, we feel like it's because of our past.
But here's the truth: in God, we're free. Christ set us free from all of that and forgave our sins. If you keep dwelling on the past, those chains can really hold you back. Sometimes, these struggles can even stem from negative spiritual influences, finding a foothold and coming to light when we unknowingly open a door, giving the enemy a legal right to step in.
You have the power to let go of what's binding you. Ask the Holy Spirit to reveal any areas of bondage you need to address. Receive God's forgiveness and His healing. He's there for you.
I pray that we all find freedom from anything that's hurting us and holding us back. Just like it says in John 8:36, "So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed."
Then they will no longer rule your nation. All will go well for you, and your burden will be lifted.
Some of you say, “We can do anything we want to.” But I tell you not everything is good for us. So I refuse to let anything have power over me.
Anyone who belongs to Christ is a new person. The past is forgotten, and everything is new.
You are tempted in the same way that everyone else is tempted. But God can be trusted not to let you be tempted too much, and he will show you how to escape from your temptations.
Let the Lord Jesus Christ be as near to you as the clothes you wear. Then you won't try to satisfy your selfish desires.
You are my mighty rock, my fortress, my protector, the rock where I am safe, my shield, my powerful weapon, and my place of shelter.
Stay awake and pray that you won't be tested. You want to do what is right, but you are weak.”
You, Lord, are my shepherd. I will never be in need.You let me rest in fields of green grass. You lead me to streams of peaceful water,and you refresh my life. Our foolish pride comes from this world, and so do our selfish desires and our desire to have everything we see. None of this comes from the Father.
With all your heart you must trust the Lord and not your own judgment.Always let him lead you, and he will clear the road for you to follow.
When his people pray for help, he listens and rescues them from their troubles.The Lord is there to rescue all who are discouraged and have given up hope.
Don't be afraid. I am with you. Don't tremble with fear. I am your God. I will make you strong, as I protect you with my arm and give you victories.
Live under the protection of God Most High and stay in the shadow of God All-Powerful.and no terrible disasters will strike you or your home.God will command his angels to protect you wherever you go.They will carry you in their arms, and you won't hurt your feet on the stones.You will overpower the strongest lions and the most deadly snakes.The Lord says, “If you love me and truly know who I am, I will rescue you and keep you safe.When you are in trouble, call out to me. Listen to me, my children! Be wise and have enough sense to follow the right path.Don't go and stuff yourself! That would be just the same as cutting your throat.Don't be a heavy drinker or stuff yourself with food.It will make you feel drowsy, and you will end up poor with only rags to wear.
Who is always in trouble? Who argues and fights? Who has cuts and bruises? Whose eyes are red?Don't be greedy for all of that fancy food! It may not be so tasty.Everyone who stays up late, having just one more drink.Don't even look at that colorful stuff bubbling up in the glass! It goes down so easily,but later it bites like a poisonous snake.
The Lord gives perfect peace to those whose faith is firm.So always trust the Lord because he is forever our mighty rock.
The Lord gives strength to those who are weary.Someone is shouting: “Clear a path in the desert! Make a straight road for the Lord our God.Even young people get tired, then stumble and fall.But those who trust the Lord will find new strength. They will be strong like eagles soaring upward on wings; they will walk and run without getting tired.
I am the Lord your God. I am holding your hand, so don't be afraid. I am here to help you.
Descendants of Jacob, I, the Lord, created you and formed your nation. Israel, don't be afraid. I have rescued you. I have called you by name; now you belong to me.My people, you are my witnesses and my chosen servant. I want you to know me, to trust me, and understand that I alone am God. I'll tell you what it really means to worship the Lord. Remove the chains of prisoners who are bound unjustly. Free those who are abused!
You, Lord, are the one I praise. So heal me and rescue me! Then I will be completely well and perfectly safe.
I will bless you with a future filled with hope—a future of success, not of suffering.
I will take away your stubborn heart and give you a new heart and a desire to be faithful. You will have only pure thoughts,because I will put my Spirit in you and make you eager to obey my laws and teachings.
My enemies, don't be glad because of my troubles! I may have fallen, but I will get up; I may be sitting in the dark, but the Lord is my light.
But more than anything else, put God's work first and do what he wants. Then the other things will be yours as well.
If you are tired from carrying heavy burdens, come to me and I will give you rest.Take the yoke I give you. Put it on your shoulders and learn from me. I am gentle and humble, and you will find rest.to ask Jesus, “Are you the one we should be looking for? Or must we wait for someone else?”This yoke is easy to bear, and this burden is light.
Jesus said to the woman, “You are now well because of your faith. May God give you peace! You are healed, and you will no longer be in pain.”
“The Lord's Spirit has come to me, because he has chosen me to tell the good news to the poor. The Lord has sent me to announce freedom for prisoners, to give sight to the blind, to free everyone who suffers,
God loved the people of this world so much that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who has faith in him will have eternal life and never really die.God did not send his Son into the world to condemn its people. He sent him to save them!
Once again Jesus spoke to the people. This time he said, “I am the light for the world! Follow me, and you won't be walking in the dark. You will have the light that gives life.”
A thief comes only to rob, kill, and destroy. I came so everyone would have life, and have it fully.
“I am the way, the truth, and the life!” Jesus answered. “Without me, no one can go to the Father.
I give you peace, the kind of peace only I can give. It isn't like the peace this world can give. So don't be worried or afraid.
I am the vine, and you are the branches. If you stay joined to me, and I stay joined to you, then you will produce lots of fruit. But you cannot do anything without me.
I have told you this, so that you might have peace in your hearts because of me. While you are in the world, you will have to suffer. But cheer up! I have defeated the world.
But God showed how much he loved us by having Christ die for us, even though we were sinful.
We know that the persons we used to be were nailed to the cross with Jesus. This was done, so our sinful bodies would no longer be the slaves of sin.
Don't let sin rule your body. After all, your body is bound to die, so don't obey its desiresor let any part of it become a slave of evil. Give yourselves to God, as people who have been raised from death to life. Make every part of your body a slave that pleases God.
Don't you know that you are slaves of anyone you obey? You can be slaves of sin and die, or you can be obedient slaves of God and be acceptable to him.You used to be slaves of sin. But I thank God that with all your heart you followed the example set forth in the teaching you received.Now you are set free from sin and are slaves who please God.
If you belong to Christ Jesus, you won't be punished.But Christ lives in you. So you are alive because God has accepted you, even though your bodies must die because of your sins.Yet God raised Jesus to life! God's Spirit now lives in you, and he will raise you to life by his Spirit. My dear friends, we must not live to satisfy our desires.If you do, you will die. But you will live, if by the help of God's Spirit you say “No” to your desires.Only those people who are led by God's Spirit are his children.God's Spirit doesn't make us slaves who are afraid of him. Instead, we become his children and call him our Father.God's Spirit makes us sure that we are his children.His Spirit lets us know that together with Christ we will be given what God has promised. We will also share in the glory of Christ, because we have suffered with him.I am sure what we are suffering now cannot compare with the glory that will be shown to us.In fact, all creation is eagerly waiting for God to show who his children are.The Holy Spirit will give you life that comes from Christ Jesus and will set you free from sin and death.
If our minds are ruled by our desires, we will die. But if our minds are ruled by the Spirit, we will have life and peace.
Yet God raised Jesus to life! God's Spirit now lives in you, and he will raise you to life by his Spirit.
We know that God is always at work for the good of everyone who loves him. They are the ones God has chosen for his purpose,
Dear friends, God is good. So I beg you to offer your bodies to him as a living sacrifice, pure and pleasing. That's the most sensible way to serve God.Love each other as brothers and sisters and honor others more than you do yourself.Never give up. Eagerly follow the Holy Spirit and serve the Lord.Let your hope make you glad. Be patient in time of trouble and never stop praying.Take care of God's needy people and welcome strangers into your home.Ask God to bless everyone who mistreats you. Ask him to bless them and not to curse them.When others are happy, be happy with them, and when they are sad, be sad.Be friendly with everyone. Don't be proud and feel that you know more than others. Make friends with ordinary people.Don't mistreat someone who has mistreated you. But try to earn the respect of others,and do your best to live at peace with everyone.Dear friends, don't try to get even. Let God take revenge. In the Scriptures the Lord says, “I am the one to take revenge and pay them back.”Don't be like the people of this world, but let God change the way you think. Then you will know how to do everything that is good and pleasing to him.
Night is almost over, and day will soon appear. We must stop behaving as people do in the dark and be ready to live in the light.So behave properly, as people do in the day. Don't go to wild parties or get drunk or be vulgar or indecent. Don't quarrel or be jealous.Let the Lord Jesus Christ be as near to you as the clothes you wear. Then you won't try to satisfy your selfish desires.
You surely know that your body is a temple where the Holy Spirit lives. The Spirit is in you and is a gift from God. You are no longer your own.Don't you know that God's people will judge the world? And if you are going to judge the world, can't you settle small problems?God paid a great price for you. So use your body to honor God.
Do idols belong in the temple of God? We are the temple of the living God, as God himself says, “I will live with these people and walk among them. I will be their God, and they will be my people.”The Lord also says, “Leave them and stay away! Don't touch anything that isn't clean. Then I will welcome youand be your Father. You will be my sons and my daughters, as surely as I am God, the All-Powerful.”
We live in this world, but we don't act like its peopleor fight our battles with the weapons of this world. Instead, we use God's power that can destroy fortresses. We destroy argumentsand every bit of pride that keeps anyone from knowing God. We capture people's thoughts and make them obey Christ.
I have died, but Christ lives in me. And I now live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave his life for me.
Christ has set us free! This means we are really free. Now hold on to your freedom and don't ever become slaves of the Law again.
People's desires make them give in to immoral ways, filthy thoughts, and shameful deeds.I, Paul, promise you that Christ won't do you any good if you get circumcised.They worship idols, practice witchcraft, hate others, and are hard to get along with. People become jealous, angry, and selfish. They not only argue and cause trouble, but they areenvious. They get drunk, carry on at wild parties, and do other evil things as well. I told you before, and I am telling you again: No one who does these things will share in the blessings of God's kingdom.
God's Spirit makes us loving, happy, peaceful, patient, kind, good, faithful,gentle, and self-controlled. There is no law against behaving in any of these ways.
You were told that your foolish desires will destroy you and that you must give up your old way of life with all its bad habits.Let the Spirit change your way of thinkingand make you into a new person. You were created to be like God, and so you must please him and be truly holy.
You used to be like people living in the dark, but now you are people of the light because you belong to the Lord. So act like people of the light
Finally, let the mighty strength of the Lord make you strong.Put on all the armor that God gives, so you can defend yourself against the devil's tricks.
God is the one who began this good work in you, and I am certain that he won't stop before it is complete on the day that Christ Jesus returns.
Don't worry about anything, but pray about everything. With thankful hearts offer up your prayers and requests to God.Then, because you belong to Christ Jesus, God will bless you with peace that no one can completely understand. And this peace will control the way you think and feel.
Finally, my friends, keep your minds on whatever is true, pure, right, holy, friendly, and proper. Don't ever stop thinking about what is truly worthwhile and worthy of praise.
God rescued us from the dark power of Satan and brought us into the kingdom of his dear Son,who forgives our sins and sets us free.
Don't be controlled by your body. Kill every desire for the wrong kind of sex. Don't be immoral or indecent or have evil thoughts. Don't be greedy, which is the same as worshiping idols.
God wants you to be holy, so don't be immoral in matters of sex.Respect and honor your wife.
Others may sleep, but we should stay awake and be alert.People sleep during the night, and some even get drunk.But we belong to the day. So we must stay sober and let our faith and love be like a suit of armor. Our firm hope that we will be saved is our helmet.
and don't have anything to do with evil.I pray that God, who gives peace, will make you completely holy. And may your spirit, soul, and body be kept healthy and faultless until our Lord Jesus Christ returns.
God's Spirit doesn't make cowards out of us. The Spirit gives us power, love, and self-control.
Run from temptations that capture young people. Always do the right thing. Be faithful, loving, and easy to get along with. Worship with people whose hearts are pure.
He taught us to give up our wicked ways and our worldly desires and to live decent and honest lives in this world.
And now that Jesus has suffered and was tempted, he can help anyone else who is tempted.
Jesus understands every weakness of ours, because he was tempted in every way that we are. But he did not sin!So whenever we are in need, we should come bravely before the throne of our merciful God. There we will be treated with undeserved grace, and we will find help.
We must hold tightly to the hope we say is ours. After all, we can trust the one who made the agreement with us.
Such a large crowd of witnesses is all around us! So we must get rid of everything that slows us down, especially the sin that just won't let go. And we must be determined to run the race that is ahead of us.Our human fathers correct us for a short time, and they do it as they think best. But God corrects us for our own good, because he wants us to be holy, as he is.It is never fun to be corrected. In fact, at the time it is always painful. But if we learn to obey by being corrected, we will do right and live at peace.Now stand up straight! Stop your knees from shakingand walk a straight path. Then lame people will be healed, instead of getting worse. Try to live at peace with everyone! Live a clean life. If you don't, you will never see the Lord.Make sure no one misses out on God's wonderful kindness. Don't let anyone become bitter and cause trouble for the rest of you.Watch out for immoral and ungodly people like Esau, who sold his future blessing for only one meal.You know how he later wanted it back. But there was nothing he could do to change things, even though he begged his father and cried. You have not come to a place like Mount Sinai that can be seen and touched. There is no flaming fire or dark cloud or stormor trumpet sound. The people of Israel heard a voice speak. But they begged it to stop,We must keep our eyes on Jesus, who leads us and makes our faith complete. He endured the shame of being nailed to a cross, because he knew later on he would be glad he did. Now he is seated at the right side of God's throne!
If any of you need wisdom, you should ask God, and it will be given to you. God is generous and won't correct you for asking.
God will bless you, if you don't give up when your faith is being tested. He will reward you with a glorious life, just as he rewards everyone who loves him.
Don't blame God when you are tempted! God cannot be tempted by evil, and he doesn't use evil to tempt others.We are tempted by our own desires that drag us off and trap us.Our desires make us sin, and when sin is finished with us, it leaves us dead.
Be alert and think straight. Put all your hope in how God will treat you with undeserved grace when Jesus Christ appears.Behave like obedient children. Don't let your lives be controlled by your desires, as they used to be.Always live as God's holy people should, because God is the one who chose you, and he is holy.That's why the Scriptures say, “I am the holy God, and you must be holy too.”
Be on your guard and stay awake. Your enemy, the devil, is like a roaring lion, sneaking around to find someone to attack.But you must resist the devil and stay strong in your faith. You know that all over the world the Lord's followers are suffering just as you are.
But if we confess our sins to God, he can always be trusted to forgive us and take our sins away.
