VERSES ABOUT VICES AND ADDICTIONS

Addiction and bad habits can be so destructive. Think about it, addiction is clinging to something—a behavior, a substance, an activity, even a person—that's actually harming you. So many of us struggle with these things, feeling trapped by a vice or an addiction. Sometimes, we feel like it's because of our past.

But here's the truth: in God, we're free. Christ set us free from all of that and forgave our sins. If you keep dwelling on the past, those chains can really hold you back. Sometimes, these struggles can even stem from negative spiritual influences, finding a foothold and coming to light when we unknowingly open a door, giving the enemy a legal right to step in.

You have the power to let go of what's binding you. Ask the Holy Spirit to reveal any areas of bondage you need to address. Receive God's forgiveness and His healing. He's there for you.

I pray that we all find freedom from anything that's hurting us and holding us back. Just like it says in John 8:36, "So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed."

And it shall come to pass in that day, that his yoke shall be taken away from your shoulder, and his fear from you, and the yoke shall be destroyed from off your shoulders.

Jesus answered them, "Most assuredly I say to you, that everyone that practices sin is a slave of sin.

All things are lawful for me, but all things are not profitable. All things are lawful for me, but I will not be mastered by anything.

Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you.

Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old things passed away; behold, all things have become new.

Therefore if the Son sets you free, you will be truly free.

No temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not permit you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation, He will also make the way out, so as for you to be able to bear it.

But put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the flesh, for its lusts.

The Lord is my firm support, and my refuge, and my deliverer; my God is my helper, I will hope in Him; He is my defender, and the horn of my salvation, and my helper.

Watch and pray, lest you enter into temptation. Indeed the spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak."

And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one. For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.

But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.

For with God nothing shall be impossible."

But He said, "These things which are impossible with men are possible with God."

For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.For God did not send His Son into the world so that He might condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.

Then Jesus spoke to them again, saying, "I am the light of the world. He that follows Me shall by no means walk in darkness, but will have the light of life."

And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall set you free."

The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.

Jesus said to him, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.

Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.

I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; because apart from Me you can do nothing.

These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you have tribulation; but have courage, I have overcome the world."

But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

knowing this, that our old man was crucified with Him, so that the body of sin may be done away with, that we should no longer serve sin.

Therefore do not let sin reign in your mortal body, that you should obey it in its lusts,nor present your members as instruments of unrighteousness to sin, but present yourselves to God as being alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness to God.

Do you not know that to whom you present yourselves as obedient slaves, you are slaves to whom you obey, whether of sin resulting in death, or of obedience resulting in righteousness?But thanks be to God, that though you used to be slaves of sin, yet you obeyed from your heart that form of doctrine to which you were delivered.And having been freed from sin, you became enslaved to righteousness.

There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit.For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has set me free from the law of sin and of death.

For the mind of the flesh is death, but the mind of the Spirit is life and peace.

But if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit indwelling in you.

And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose.

Therefore, brothers, I exhort you through the compassions of God, to present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, well pleasing to God, which is your intelligent service.And do not fashion yourselves after this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and well pleasing and perfect will of God.

The night is advanced, the day is at hand. Therefore let us put off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armor of light.Let us walk properly, as in the day, not in revelries and drinking bouts, not in orgies and debaucheries, not in strife and jealousy.But put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the flesh, for its lusts.

Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own?For you were bought with a price; therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God's.

Do not be deceived: "Evil associations corrupts good habits."

And what union is there for the temple of God with idols? For you are the temple of the living God, just as God has said: "I will dwell in them and walk among them, and I will be their God, and they shall be My people."Therefore "Come out from the midst of them and be separated," says the Lord. "Do not touch what is unclean, and I will receive you.""I will be a Father to you, and you will be My sons and daughters, says the LORD Almighty."

For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh.For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty by God to the pulling down of strongholds,casting down imaginations and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ,

I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me, and gave Himself for me.

Stand fast therefore in the freedom in which Christ has made us free, and do not be loaded down again with a yoke of bondage.

I say then: Walk in the Spirit, and you shall by no means fulfill the lust of the flesh.

Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are: adultery, fornication, immorality, lewdness,idolatry, sorcery, hatred, contentions, jealousies, outbursts of wrath, selfish ambitions, dissensions, factions,envies, murders, drinking bouts, revelries, and the like; which I tell you beforehand, just as I also told you in time past, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,gentleness, self-control--against such things there is no law.

that you put off, concerning your former way of life, the old man which is being corrupted according to the deceitful lusts,and that you be renewed in the spirit of your mind,and that you put on the new man which was created in the likeness of God, in true righteousness and holiness.

For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Walk as children of light--

And do not get drunk with wine, in which is dissipation; but be filled with the Spirit,

Finally, my brothers, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might.Put on the full armor of God, so that you may be able to stand against the stratagems of the devil.

having been persuaded of this very thing, that He who began a good work in you will complete it until the day of Christ Jesus;

for it is God who is working in you, both to will and to do for His good pleasure.

Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and petition, along with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God;and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, shall guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus.

Finally, brothers, as many things as are true, as many as are honorable, as many as are just, as many as are pure, as many as are lovely--if there is any virtue and if there is any praise--meditate on these things.

I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.

He has delivered us from the dominion of darkness and transferred us into the kingdom of the Son of His love,in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.

Therefore put to death your members on the earth: fornication, uncleanness, passion, evil desire, and greed, which is idolatry.

But now you yourselves are to put off all these: wrath, anger, malice, blasphemy, filthy language out of your mouth.Do not lie to one another, since you have stripped off the old man with his practices,and have put on the new man who is renewed in full knowledge according to the image of Him who created it,

For this is the will of God, your sanctification: that you should abstain from fornication,that each of you should know how to possess his own vessel in sanctification and honor,

Therefore let us not sleep, as others do, but let us watch and be sober.For those who sleep, sleep at night, and those getting drunk, are drunk at night.But we, since we are of the day, let us be sober, putting on a breastplate of faith and love, and as a helmet, the hope of salvation.

Abstain from every form of evil.Now may the God of peace Himself sanctify you completely; and may your whole spirit, soul, and body be kept blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.

But godliness with contentment is great gain.

For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.

Flee youthful lusts; but pursue righteousness, faith, love, peace with those who call on the Lord out of a pure heart.

teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly in the present age,

For in that which He Himself has suffered, being tempted, He is able to help those who are tempted.

For we do not have a High Priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but having been tempted in all respects in quite the same way as we are, yet without sin.Therefore let us come boldly to the throne of grace, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need.

Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful.

So therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every impediment, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us,looking unto Jesus, the Author and Perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.

If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all generously and without reproach, and it shall be given to him.

Blessed is the man who endures temptation; because when he is approved, he shall receive the crown of life which the Lord promised to those who love Him.

Let no one say when he is tempted, "I am tempted by God"; for God cannot be tempted by evil, nor does He Himself tempt anyone.But each one is tempted by his own lusts, being drawn away and being seduced by them.Then lust, when it conceives, gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full-grown, brings forth death.

Therefore gird up the loins of your mind, stay sober, put your hope fully in the grace brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ;as obedient children, not fashioning yourselves after the former lusts, as you did in your ignorance;but as He who called you is holy, you also be holy in all manner of life,because it is written, "Be holy, for I am holy."

Be sober, be watchful; your adversary the devil walks about as a roaring lion, seeking someone he may devour.Resist him, being steadfast in your faith, knowing that the same sufferings are experienced by your brotherhood in the world.

If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
