Addiction and bad habits can be so destructive. Think about it, addiction is clinging to something—a behavior, a substance, an activity, even a person—that's actually harming you. So many of us struggle with these things, feeling trapped by a vice or an addiction. Sometimes, we feel like it's because of our past.
But here's the truth: in God, we're free. Christ set us free from all of that and forgave our sins. If you keep dwelling on the past, those chains can really hold you back. Sometimes, these struggles can even stem from negative spiritual influences, finding a foothold and coming to light when we unknowingly open a door, giving the enemy a legal right to step in.
You have the power to let go of what's binding you. Ask the Holy Spirit to reveal any areas of bondage you need to address. Receive God's forgiveness and His healing. He's there for you.
I pray that we all find freedom from anything that's hurting us and holding us back. Just like it says in John 8:36, "So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed."
On that day the burden will be lifted from your shoulders, and the yoke from your neck. The yoke will be broken because your neck will be too large.
“Everything is permissible for me,” but not everything is beneficial. “Everything is permissible for me,” but I will not be mastered by anything.
Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away. Behold, the new has come!
No temptation has seized you except what is common to man. And God is faithful; He will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, He will also provide an escape, so that you can stand up under it.
Instead, clothe yourselves with the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the desires of the flesh.
The Lord is my rock, my fortress, and my deliverer. My God is my rock, in whom I take refuge, my shield, and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.
“Watch and pray so that you will not enter into temptation. For the spirit is willing, but the body is weak.”
The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.He makes me lie down in green pastures; He leads me beside quiet waters. He restores my soul; He guides me in the paths of righteousness for the sake of His name.Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.
For all that is in the world—the desires of the flesh, the desires of the eyes, and the pride of life—is not from the Father but from the world.
Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding;in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight.
The righteous cry out, and the Lord hears; He delivers them from all their troubles. The Lord is near to the brokenhearted; He saves the contrite in spirit.
Do not fear, for I am with you; do not be afraid, for I am your God. I will strengthen you; I will surely help you; I will uphold you with My right hand of righteousness.
He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will abide in the shadow of the Almighty. no evil will befall you, no plague will approach your tent. For He will command His angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways. They will lift you up in their hands, so that you will not strike your foot against a stone. You will tread on the lion and cobra; you will trample the young lion and serpent.“Because he loves Me, I will deliver him; because he knows My name, I will protect him. When he calls out to Me, I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble. I will deliver him and honor him. With long life I will satisfy him and show him My salvation.”I will say to the Lord, “You are my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.”
Bless the Lord, O my soul, and do not forget all His kind deeds—Bless the Lord, all His angels mighty in strength who carry out His word, who hearken to the voice of His command.Bless the Lord, all His hosts, you servants who do His will.Bless the Lord, all His works in all places of His dominion. Bless the Lord, O my soul!He who forgives all your iniquities and heals all your diseases, who redeems your life from the Pit and crowns you with loving devotion and compassion,
Then they cried out to the Lord in their trouble, and He saved them from their distress. He brought them out of darkness and the shadow of death and broke away their chains.
Can a man embrace fire and his clothes not be burned? Can a man walk on hot coals without scorching his feet?
Wine is a mocker, strong drink is a brawler, and whoever is led astray by them is not wise.
Listen, my son, and be wise, and guide your heart on the right course.and put a knife to your throat if you possess a great appetite.Do not join those who drink too much wine or gorge themselves on meat. For the drunkard and the glutton will come to poverty, and drowsiness will clothe them in rags.
Who has woe? Who has sorrow? Who has contentions? Who has complaints? Who has needless wounds? Who has bloodshot eyes?Do not crave his delicacies, for that food is deceptive. Those who linger over wine, who go to taste mixed drinks.Do not gaze at wine while it is red, when it sparkles in the cup and goes down smoothly. In the end it bites like a snake and stings like a viper.
You will keep in perfect peace the steadfast of mind, because he trusts in You.Trust in the Lord forever, because GOD the Lord is the Rock eternal.
He gives power to the faint and increases the strength of the weak.A voice of one calling: “Prepare the way for the Lord in the wilderness; make a straight highway for our God in the desert. Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall. But those who wait upon the Lord will renew their strength; they will mount up with wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not faint.
For I am the Lord your God, who takes hold of your right hand and tells you: Do not fear, I will help you.
Now this is what the Lord says— He who created you, O Jacob, and He who formed you, O Israel: “Do not fear, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by your name; you are Mine!“You are My witnesses,” declares the Lord, “and My servant whom I have chosen, so that you may consider and believe Me and understand that I am He. Before Me no god was formed, and after Me none will come.I, yes I, am the Lord, and there is no Savior but Me.I alone decreed and saved and proclaimed— I, and not some foreign god among you. So you are My witnesses,” declares the Lord, “that I am God.Even from eternity I am He, and none can deliver out of My hand. When I act, who can reverse it?”Thus says the Lord your Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel: “For your sake, I will send to Babylon and bring them all as fugitives, even the Chaldeans, in the ships in which they rejoice.I am the Lord, your Holy One, the Creator of Israel, and your King.”Thus says the Lord, who makes a way in the sea and a path through the surging waters, who brings out the chariots and horses, the armies and warriors together, to lie down, never to rise again; to be extinguished, snuffed out like a wick:“Do not call to mind the former things; pay no attention to the things of old.Behold, I am about to do something new; even now it is coming. Do you not see it? Indeed, I will make a way in the wilderness and streams in the desert. When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you go through the rivers, they will not overwhelm you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be scorched; the flames will not set you ablaze.
I have blotted out your transgressions like a cloud, and your sins like a mist. Return to Me, for I have redeemed you.
But He was pierced for our transgressions, He was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was upon Him, and by His stripes we are healed.
Isn’t this the fast that I have chosen: to break the chains of wickedness, to untie the cords of the yoke, to set the oppressed free and tear off every yoke?
Heal me, O Lord, and I will be healed; save me, and I will be saved, for You are my praise.
For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, to give you a future and a hope.
I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you; I will remove your heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh. And I will put My Spirit within you and cause you to walk in My statutes and to carefully observe My ordinances.
Do not gloat over me, my enemy! Though I have fallen, I will arise; though I sit in darkness, the Lord will be my light.
But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things will be added unto you.
Come to Me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me; for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.to ask Him, “Are You the One who was to come, or should we look for someone else?”For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.”
“Daughter,” said Jesus, “your faith has healed you. Go in peace and be free of your affliction.”
“The Spirit of the Lord is on Me, because He has anointed Me to preach good news to the poor. He has sent Me to proclaim liberty to the captives and recovery of sight to the blind, to release the oppressed,
For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that everyone who believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through Him.
Once again, Jesus spoke to the people and said, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows Me will never walk in the darkness, but will have the light of life.”
The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I have come that they may have life, and have it in all its fullness.
Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.
Peace I leave with you; My peace I give to you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled; do not be afraid.
I am the vine and you are the branches. The one who remains in Me, and I in him, will bear much fruit. For apart from Me you can do nothing.
I have told you these things so that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take courage; I have overcome the world!”
We know that our old self was crucified with Him so that the body of sin might be rendered powerless, that we should no longer be slaves to sin.
Therefore do not let sin reign in your mortal body so that you obey its desires.Do not present the parts of your body to sin as instruments of wickedness, but present yourselves to God as those who have been brought from death to life; and present the parts of your body to Him as instruments of righteousness.
Do you not know that when you offer yourselves as obedient slaves, you are slaves to the one you obey, whether you are slaves to sin leading to death, or to obedience leading to righteousness? But thanks be to God that, though you once were slaves to sin, you wholeheartedly obeyed the form of teaching to which you were committed. You have been set free from sin and have become slaves to righteousness.
Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. But if Christ is in you, your body is dead because of sin, yet your spirit is alive because of righteousness. And if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you, He who raised Christ Jesus from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit, who lives in you. Therefore, brothers, we have an obligation, but it is not to the flesh, to live according to it.For if you live according to the flesh, you will die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the deeds of the body, you will live. For all who are led by the Spirit of God are sons of God.For you did not receive a spirit of slavery that returns you to fear, but you received the Spirit of sonship, by whom we cry, “Abba! Father!”The Spirit Himself testifies with our spirit that we are God’s children. And if we are children, then we are heirs: heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ—if indeed we suffer with Him, so that we may also be glorified with Him.I consider that our present sufferings are not comparable to the glory that will be revealed in us.The creation waits in eager expectation for the revelation of the sons of God.For in Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit of life set you free from the law of sin and death.
And if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you, He who raised Christ Jesus from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit, who lives in you.
And we know that God works all things together for the good of those who love Him, who are called according to His purpose.
Therefore I urge you, brothers, on account of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God, which is your spiritual service of worship.Be devoted to one another in brotherly love. Outdo yourselves in honoring one another.Do not let your zeal subside; keep your spiritual fervor, serving the Lord.Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, persistent in prayer.Share with the saints who are in need. Practice hospitality.Bless those who persecute you. Bless and do not curse.Rejoice with those who rejoice; weep with those who weep.Live in harmony with one another. Do not be proud, but enjoy the company of the lowly. Do not be conceited.Do not repay anyone evil for evil. Carefully consider what is right in the eyes of everybody. If it is possible on your part, live at peace with everyone.Do not avenge yourselves, beloved, but leave room for God’s wrath. For it is written: “Vengeance is Mine; I will repay, says the Lord.” Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what is the good, pleasing, and perfect will of God.
The night is nearly over; the day has drawn near. So let us lay aside the deeds of darkness and put on the armor of light.Let us behave decently, as in the daytime, not in carousing and drunkenness, not in sexual immorality and debauchery, not in dissension and jealousy.Instead, clothe yourselves with the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the desires of the flesh.
Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own;Do you not know that the saints will judge the world? And if you are to judge the world, are you not competent to judge trivial cases?you were bought at a price. Therefore glorify God with your body.
What agreement can exist between the temple of God and idols? For we are the temple of the living God. As God has said: “I will dwell with them and walk among them, and I will be their God, and they will be My people.” “Therefore come out from among them and be separate, says the Lord. Touch no unclean thing, and I will receive you.” And: “I will be a Father to you, and you will be My sons and daughters, says the Lord Almighty.”
For though we live in the flesh, we do not wage war according to the flesh. The weapons of our warfare are not the weapons of the world. Instead, they have divine power to demolish strongholds. We tear down arguments and every presumption set up against the knowledge of God; and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.
I have been crucified with Christ, and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself up for me.
It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not be encumbered once more by a yoke of slavery.
The acts of the flesh are obvious: sexual immorality, impurity, and debauchery;Take notice: I, Paul, tell you that if you let yourselves be circumcised, Christ will be of no value to you at all.idolatry and sorcery; hatred, discord, jealousy, and rage; rivalries, divisions, factions, and envy; drunkenness, orgies, and the like. I warn you, as I did before, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. Against such things there is no law.
to put off your former way of life, your old self, which is being corrupted by its deceitful desires;to be renewed in the spirit of your minds;and to put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness.
For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Walk as children of light,
Do not get drunk on wine, which leads to reckless indiscretion. Instead, be filled with the Spirit.
Finally, be strong in the Lord and in His mighty power.Put on the full armor of God, so that you can make your stand against the devil’s schemes.
being confident of this, that He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.
Be anxious for nothing, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think on these things.
He has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of His beloved Son,in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.
Put to death, therefore, the components of your earthly nature: sexual immorality, impurity, lust, evil desires, and greed, which is idolatry.
For it is God’s will that you should be holy: You must abstain from sexual immorality;each of you must know how to control his own body in holiness and honor,
So then, let us not sleep as the others do, but let us remain awake and sober. For those who sleep, sleep at night; and those who get drunk, get drunk at night. But since we belong to the day, let us be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love, and the helmet of our hope of salvation.
Abstain from every form of evil. Now may the God of peace Himself sanctify you completely, and may your entire spirit, soul, and body be kept blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Flee from youthful passions and pursue righteousness, faith, love, and peace, together with those who call on the Lord out of a pure heart.
It instructs us to renounce ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live sensible, upright, and godly lives in the present age,
Because He Himself suffered when He was tempted, He is able to help those who are being tempted.
For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who was tempted in every way that we are, yet was without sin.Let us then approach the throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.
Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off every encumbrance and the sin that so easily entangles, and let us run with endurance the race set out for us.Our fathers disciplined us for a short time as they thought best, but God disciplines us for our good, so that we may share in His holiness. No discipline seems enjoyable at the time, but painful. Later on, however, it yields a harvest of righteousness and peace to those who have been trained by it. Therefore strengthen your limp hands and weak knees.Make straight paths for your feet, so that the lame may not be disabled, but rather healed. Pursue peace with everyone, as well as holiness, without which no one will see the Lord.See to it that no one falls short of the grace of God, and that no root of bitterness springs up to cause trouble and defile many.See to it that no one is sexually immoral, or is godless like Esau, who for a single meal sold his birthright. For you know that afterward, when he wanted to inherit the blessing, he was rejected. He could find no ground for repentance, though he sought the blessing with tears. For you have not come to a mountain that can be touched and that is burning with fire; to darkness, gloom, and storm;to a trumpet blast or to a voice that made its hearers beg that no further word be spoken.Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before Him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.
Now if any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to him.
Blessed is the man who perseveres under trial, because when he has stood the test, he will receive the crown of life that God has promised to those who love Him.
When tempted, no one should say, “God is tempting me.” For God cannot be tempted by evil, nor does He tempt anyone. But each one is tempted when by his own evil desires he is lured away and enticed. Then after desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full-grown, gives birth to death.
Therefore prepare your minds for action. Be sober-minded. Set your hope fully on the grace to be given you at the revelation of Jesus Christ. As obedient children, do not conform to the passions of your former ignorance. But just as He who called you is holy, so be holy in all you do,for it is written: “Be holy, because I am holy.”
Be sober-minded and alert. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour.Resist him, standing firm in your faith and in the knowledge that your brothers throughout the world are undergoing the same kinds of suffering.
If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
