VERSES ABOUT VICES AND ADDICTIONS

Addiction and bad habits can be so destructive. Think about it, addiction is clinging to something—a behavior, a substance, an activity, even a person—that's actually harming you. So many of us struggle with these things, feeling trapped by a vice or an addiction. Sometimes, we feel like it's because of our past.

But here's the truth: in God, we're free. Christ set us free from all of that and forgave our sins. If you keep dwelling on the past, those chains can really hold you back. Sometimes, these struggles can even stem from negative spiritual influences, finding a foothold and coming to light when we unknowingly open a door, giving the enemy a legal right to step in.

You have the power to let go of what's binding you. Ask the Holy Spirit to reveal any areas of bondage you need to address. Receive God's forgiveness and His healing. He's there for you.

I pray that we all find freedom from anything that's hurting us and holding us back. Just like it says in John 8:36, "So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed."

And it shall come to pass in that day, that his burden shall depart from off thy shoulder, and his yoke from off thy neck, and the yoke shall be destroyed by reason of fatness.\par

Jesus answered them, {\cf6 Verily, verily, I say unto you, Every one that committeth sin is the bondservant of sin.

All things are lawful for me; but not all things are expedient. All things are lawful for me; but I will not be brought under the power of any.

Be subject therefore unto God; but resist the devil, and he will flee from you.

Wherefore if any man is in Christ, {\i he is} a new creature: the old things are passed away; behold, the new is come.

If therefore the Son shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed.

There hath no temptation taken you but such as man can bear: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation make also the way of escape, that ye may be able to endure it.\par

But put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make not provision for the flesh, to {\i fulfil} the lusts {\i thereof}.\par

Jehovah is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer;\par\tab My God, my rock, in whom I will take refuge;\par\tab My shield, and the horn of my salvation, my high tower.

Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation: the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.}

For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh and the lust of the eyes and the vainglory of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.

casting all your anxiety upon him, because he careth for you.

O Jehovah my God, I cried unto thee, and thou hast healed me.

I sought Jehovah, and he answered me,\par\tab And delivered me from all my fears.

Commit thy way unto Jehovah;\par\tab Trust also in him, and he will bring it to pass.

Trust in Jehovah with all thy heart,\par\tab And lean not upon thine own understanding:In all thy ways acknowledge him,\par\tab And he will direct thy paths.

{\i The righteous} cried, and Jehovah heard,\par\tab And delivered them out of all their troubles.Jehovah is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart,\par\tab And saveth such as are of a contrite spirit.

Create in me a clean heart, O God;\par\tab And renew a right spirit within me.

He giveth power to the faint; and to him that hath no might he increaseth strength.Even the youths shall faint and be weary, and the young men shall utterly fall:but they that wait for Jehovah shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; they shall walk, and not faint.\par

For I, Jehovah thy God, will hold thy right hand, saying unto thee, Fear not; I will help thee.

But now thus saith Jehovah that created thee, O Jacob, and he that formed thee, O Israel: Fear not, for I have redeemed thee; I have called thee by thy name, thou art mine.When thou passest through the waters, I will be with thee; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow thee: when thou walkest through the fire, thou shalt not be burned, neither shall the flame kindle upon thee.

I have blotted out, as a thick cloud, thy transgressions, and, as a cloud, thy sins: return unto me; for I have redeemed thee.

But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities; the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.

Is not this the fast that I have chosen: to loose the bonds of wickedness, to undo the bands of the yoke, and to let the oppressed go free, and that ye break every yoke?

Heal me, O Jehovah, and I shall be healed; save me, and I shall be saved: for thou art my praise.

For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith Jehovah, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you hope in your latter end.

A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you; and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you a heart of flesh.And I will put my Spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes, and ye shall keep mine ordinances, and do them.

Rejoice not against me, O mine enemy: when I fall, I shall arise; when I sit in darkness, Jehovah will be a light unto me.

And bring us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil {\i one}.

But seek ye first the kingdom {\i of God}, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.

Come unto me, all ye that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and {\b ye shall find rest unto your souls.}For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.}\par

And he said unto her, {\cf6 Daughter, thy faith hath made thee whole; go in peace, and be whole of thy plague.}\par

For no word from God shall be void of power.

But he said, {\cf6 The things which are impossible with men are possible with God.}

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth on him should not perish, but have eternal life.For God sent not the Son into the world to judge the world; but that the world should be saved through him.

Again therefore Jesus spake unto them, saying, {\cf6 I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in the darkness, but shall have the light of life.}

and ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.}

The thief cometh not, but that he may steal, and kill, and destroy: I came that they may have life, and may have {\i it} abundantly.

Jesus saith unto him, {\cf6 I am the way, and the truth, and the life: no one cometh unto the Father, but by me.

Peace I leave with you; my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be fearful.

I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same beareth much fruit: for apart from me ye can do nothing.

These things have I spoken unto you, that in me ye may have peace. In the world ye have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.}\par

But God commendeth his own love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.

knowing this, that our old man was crucified with {\i him}, that the body of sin might be done away, that so we should no longer be in bondage to sin;

Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, that ye should obey the lusts thereof:neither present your members unto sin {\i as} instruments of unrighteousness; but present yourselves unto God, as alive from the dead, and your members {\i as} instruments of righteousness unto God.

Know ye not, that to whom ye present yourselves {\i as} servants unto obedience, his servants ye are whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness?But thanks be to God, that, whereas ye were servants of sin, ye became obedient from the heart to that form of teaching whereunto ye were delivered;and being made free from sin, ye became servants of righteousness.

There is therefore now no condemnation to them that are in Christ Jesus.For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus made thee free from the law of sin and of death.

For the mind of the flesh is death; but the mind of the Spirit is life and peace:

But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwelleth in you, he that raised up Christ Jesus from the dead shall give life also to your mortal bodies through his Spirit that dwelleth in you.\par

And we know that to them that love God all things work together for good, {\i even} to them that are called according to {\i his} purpose.

I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, {\i which is} your spiritual service.And be not fashioned according to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is the good and acceptable and perfect will of God.\par

The night is far spent, and the day is at hand: let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armor of light.Let us walk becomingly, as in the day; not in revelling and drunkenness, not in chambering and wantonness, not in strife and jealousy.But put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make not provision for the flesh, to {\i fulfil} the lusts {\i thereof}.\par

Or know ye not that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit which is in you, which ye have from God? and ye are not your own;for ye were bought with a price: glorify God therefore in your body.\par

Be not deceived: Evil companionships corrupt good morals.

And what agreement hath a temple of God with idols? for we are a temple of the living God; even as God said, {\b I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people.}Wherefore\par\tab {\b Come ye out from among them, and be ye separate,} saith the Lord,\par\tab {\b And touch no unclean thing};\par\tab And I will receive you,{\b And will be to you a Father,\par\tab And ye shall be to me sons and daughters,\par\tab saith the Lord Almighty.}

For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh(for the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh, but mighty before God to the casting down of strongholds),casting down imaginations, and every high thing that is exalted against the knowledge of God, and bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ;

I have been crucified with Christ; and it is no longer I that live, but Christ liveth in me: and that {\i life} which I now live in the flesh I live in faith, {\i the faith} which is in the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself up for me.

For freedom did Christ set us free: stand fast therefore, and be not entangled again in a yoke of bondage.\par

But I say, Walk by the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh.

Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are {\i these}: fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness,idolatry, sorcery, enmities, strife, jealousies, wraths, factions, divisions, parties,envyings, drunkenness, revellings, and such like; of which I forewarn you, even as I did forewarn you, that they who practise such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,meekness, self-control; against such there is no law.

that ye put away, as concerning your former manner of life, the old man, that waxeth corrupt after the lusts of deceit;and that ye be renewed in the spirit of your mind,and put on the new man, that after God hath been created in righteousness and holiness of truth.\par

for ye were once darkness, but are now light in the Lord: walk as children of light

And be not drunken with wine, wherein is riot, but be filled with the Spirit;

Finally, be strong in the Lord, and in the strength of his might.Put on the whole armor of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.

being confident of this very thing, that he who began a good work in you will perfect it until the day of Jesus Christ:

for it is God who worketh in you both to will and to work, for his good pleasure.

In nothing be anxious; but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus.\par

Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honorable, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.

I can do all things in him that strengtheneth me.

who delivered us out of the power of darkness, and translated us into the kingdom of the Son of his love;in whom we have our redemption, the forgiveness of our sins:

Put to death therefore the members which are upon the earth: fornication, uncleanness, passion, evil desire, and covetousness, which is idolatry;

but now do ye also put them all away: anger, wrath, malice, railing, shameful speaking out of your mouth:lie not one to another; seeing that ye have put off the old man with his doings,and have put on the new man, that is being renewed unto knowledge after the image of him that created him:

For this is the will of God, {\i even} your sanctification, that ye abstain from fornication;that each one of you know how to possess himself of his own vessel in sanctification and honor,

so then let us not sleep, as do the rest, but let us watch and be sober.For they that sleep sleep in the night; and they that are drunken are drunken in the night.But let us, since we are of the day, be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love; and for a helmet, the hope of salvation.

abstain from every form of evil.\parAnd the God of peace himself sanctify you wholly; and may your spirit and soul and body be preserved entire, without blame at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.

But godliness with contentment is great gain:

For God gave us not a spirit of fearfulness; but of power and love and discipline.

But flee youthful lusts, and follow after righteousness, faith, love, peace, with them that call on the Lord out of a pure heart.

instructing us, to the intent that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly and righteously and godly in this present world;

For in that he himself hath suffered being tempted, he is able to succor them that are tempted.\par

For we have not a high priest that cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but one that hath been in all points tempted like as {\i we are, yet} without sin.Let us therefore draw near with boldness unto the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy, and may find grace to help {\i us} in time of need.\par

let us hold fast the confession of our hope that it waver not; for he is faithful that promised:

Therefore let us also, seeing we are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us,looking unto Jesus the author and perfecter of {\i our} faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising shame, and hath sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.

But if any of you lacketh wisdom, let him ask of God, who giveth to all liberally and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.

Blessed is the man that endureth temptation; for when he hath been approved, he shall receive the crown of life, which {\i the Lord} promised to them that love him.

Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God; for God cannot be tempted with evil, and he himself tempteth no man:but each man is tempted, when he is drawn away by his own lust, and enticed.Then the lust, when it hath conceived, beareth sin: and the sin, when it is fullgrown, bringeth forth death.

Wherefore girding up the loins of your mind, be sober and set your hope perfectly on the grace that is to be brought unto you at the revelation of Jesus Christ;as children of obedience, not fashioning yourselves according to your former lusts in {\i the time of} your ignorance:but like as he who called you is holy, be ye yourselves also holy in all manner of living;because it is written, {\b Ye shall be holy; for I {\i am} holy.}

Be sober, be watchful: your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour,whom withstand stedfast in your faith, knowing that the same sufferings are accomplished in your brethren who are in {\i the} world.

If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
