VERSES ABOUT VICES AND ADDICTIONS

Addiction and bad habits can be so destructive. Think about it, addiction is clinging to something—a behavior, a substance, an activity, even a person—that's actually harming you. So many of us struggle with these things, feeling trapped by a vice or an addiction. Sometimes, we feel like it's because of our past.

But here's the truth: in God, we're free. Christ set us free from all of that and forgave our sins. If you keep dwelling on the past, those chains can really hold you back. Sometimes, these struggles can even stem from negative spiritual influences, finding a foothold and coming to light when we unknowingly open a door, giving the enemy a legal right to step in.

You have the power to let go of what's binding you. Ask the Holy Spirit to reveal any areas of bondage you need to address. Receive God's forgiveness and His healing. He's there for you.

I pray that we all find freedom from anything that's hurting us and holding us back. Just like it says in John 8:36, "So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed."

And it shall come to pass in that day, that his burden shall depart from off thy shoulder, and his yoke from off thy neck, and the yoke shall be destroyed because of fatness.

Jesus answered them, Truly, truly, I say to you, that every man who does the sin is a bondman of the sin.

All things are lawful for me, but not all things are expedient. All things are lawful for me, but I will not be brought under control by anything.

Be subordinate therefore to God, but resist the devil and he will flee from you.

So then if any man is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old things have passed away, behold, all things have become new.

If therefore the Son should make you free, ye will truly be free.

No temptation has taken you except is common to man. But God is faithful who will not allow you to be tempted above what ye are able, but with the temptation will also make the way to escape, to enable you to endure.

But clothe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no forethought for lusts of the flesh.

LORD is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer, my God, my rock, in whom I will take refuge, my shield, and the horn of my salvation, my high tower.

Watch and pray that ye enter not into temptation. Truly, the spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak.

LORD is my shepherd, I shall not want.He makes me to lie down in green pastures. He leads me beside still waters.He restores my soul. He guides me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake.Yea, tho I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for thou are with me, thy rod and thy staff, they comfort me.

Because everything in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the arrogance of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.

having cast all your concern upon him, because he cares for you.

O LORD my God, I cried to thee, and thou have healed me.

I sought LORD, and he answered me, and delivered me from all my fears.

Commit thy way to LORD. Trust also in him, and he will bring it to pass.

Trust in LORD with all thy heart, and lean not upon thine own understanding.In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he will direct thy paths.

They cried, and LORD heard, and delivered them out of all their troubles.LORD is near to those who are of a broken heart, and saves such as are of a contrite spirit.

Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me.

For thou, LORD, are good, and ready to forgive, and abundant in loving kindness to all those who call upon thee.

Fear thou not, for I am with thee. Be not dismayed, for I am thy God. I will strengthen thee. Yea, I will help thee. Yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.

He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.I will say of LORD, He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.

Bless LORD, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits,who forgives all thine iniquities, who heals all thy diseases,who redeems thy life from destruction, who crowns thee with loving kindness and tender mercies,

Then they cried to LORD in their trouble, and he saved them out of their distresses.He brought them out of darkness and the shadow of death, and broke their bonds apart.

I have laid thy word up in my heart that I might not sin against thee.

He heals the broken in heart, and binds up their wounds.

Keep thy heart with all diligence, for out of it are the issues of life.

Can a man take fire in his bosom, and his clothes not be burned?Or can a man walk upon hot coals, and his feet not be scorched?

Wine is a mocker, strong drink a brawler, and whoever errs thereby is not wise.

Hear thou, my son, and be wise, and guide thy heart in the way.Be not among winebibbers, among gluttonous eaters of flesh.For the drunkard and the glutton shall come to poverty, and drowsiness will clothe [a man] with rags.

Who has woe? Who has sorrow? Who has contentions? Who has complaining? Who has wounds without cause? Who has redness of eyes?Those who tarry long at the wine. Those who go to seek out mixed wine.Look not thou upon the wine when it is red, when it sparkles in the cup, when it goes down smoothly.At the end it bites like a serpent, and stings like an adder.

He whose spirit is without restraint is a city that is broken down and without walls.

Thou will keep [him] in perfect peace, [whose] mind [is] stayed [on thee], because he trusts in thee.Trust ye in LORD forever, for in LORD, [even] LORD, is an everlasting rock.

He gives power to the faint. And to him who has no might he increases strength.Even the youths shall faint and be weary, and the young men shall utterly fall.But those who wait for LORD shall renew their strength. They shall mount up with wings as eagles. They shall run, and not be weary. They shall walk, and not faint.

For I, LORD thy God, will hold thy right hand, saying to thee, Fear not, I will help thee.

But now thus says LORD who created thee, O Jacob, and he who formed thee, O Israel: Fear not, for I have redeemed thee. I have called thee by thy name, Thou are mine.When thou pass through the waters, I will be with thee, and through the rivers, they shall not overflow thee. When thou walk through the fire, thou shall not be burned, nor shall the flame kindle upon thee.

I have blotted out, as a thick cloud, thy transgressions, and, as a cloud, thy sins. Return to me, for I have redeemed thee.

But he was wounded for our transgressions. He was bruised for our iniquities. The chastisement of our peace was upon him, and with his stripes we are healed.

Is not this the fast that I have chosen: to loose the bonds of wickedness, to undo the bands of the yoke, and to let the oppressed go free, and that ye break every yoke?

Heal me, O LORD, and I shall be healed. Save me, and I shall be saved, for thou are my praise.

For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you hope in your latter end.

I will also give you a new heart, and I will put a new spirit within you. And I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you a heart of flesh.And I will put my Spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes, and ye shall keep my ordinances, and do them.

Rejoice not against me, O my enemy. When I fall, I shall arise. When I sit in darkness, LORD will be a light to me.

And bring us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil, because from thee is the kingdom and the power and the glory into the ages. Truly.

But seek ye first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.

Come to me, all ye who labor and have been burdened, and I will give you rest.Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, because I am meek and lowly in heart, and ye will find rest for your souls.For my yoke is befitting, and my burden is light.

And he said to her, Daughter, thy faith has healed thee. Go in peace, and be healthy from thy scourge.

For no word from God will be impossible.

And he said, The things impossible with men are possible with God.

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, so that every man who believes in him would not perish, but have eternal life.For God sent the Son into the world not that he might condemn the world, but that the world might be saved through him.

Again therefore Jesus spoke to them, saying, I am the light of the world. He who follows me would, no, not walk in the darkness, but will have the light of life.

and ye will know the truth, and the truth will make you free.

The thief comes not, except that he might steal and kill and destroy. I came so that they might have life, and have it more abundantly.

Jesus says to him, I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No man comes to the Father, except by me.

Peace I leave with you. My peace I give to you, not as the world gives, do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, nor let it be cowardly.

I am the grapevine, ye are the branches. He who dwells in me, and I in him, this man bears much fruit, because without me ye can do nothing.

These things I have spoken to you, so that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye have tribulation. But cheer up, I have overcome the world.

But God commends his love toward us, that, while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

Knowing this, that our old man was crucified with him, so that the body of sin might be inactivated, no longer to enslave us to sin.

Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body in order to obey it, in its lusts.And do not present your body-parts as instruments of unrighteousness to sin, but present yourselves to God, as living out of the dead, and your body-parts as instruments of righteousness to God,

Know ye not, that to what ye present yourselves as bondmen for obedience, ye are bondmen to what ye obey, whether of sin for death, or of obedience for righteousness?But thanks to God, that ye were bondmen of sin, but ye obeyed from the heart a model of doctrine for which ye were delivered.And having been set free from sin, ye were made servile to righteousness

Consequently nothing is condemnation now to those in Christ Jesus, who walk not according to flesh but according to Spirit.For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus freed me from the law of sin and of death.

For the mentality of the flesh is death, but the mentality of the Spirit is life and peace.

But if the Spirit of him who raised up Jesus from the dead dwells in you, he who raised up the Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through his Spirit that dwells in you.

And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, who are the called according to purpose.

I beseech you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, your reasonable service.And be not conformed to this age, but be ye transformed by the renewal of your mind, for ye to approve what is the good and acceptable and perfect will of God.

The night has advanced and the day has approached. Let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the weapons of light.Let us walk decently as in the day, not in revelry and drunkenness, not in beddings and wantonness, not in strife and envy.But clothe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no forethought for lusts of the flesh.

Or know ye not that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit in you, which ye have from God? And ye are not your own,for ye were bought with a price. Therefore glorify God in your body and your spirit, which is of God.

Be not led astray. Evil associations corrupt good habits.

And what mutual agreement has a temple of God with idols? For ye are a temple of the living God, just as God said, I will dwell in them, and will walk among them. And I will be their God, and they will be a people to me.Therefore, Come ye out from among them, and be ye separated, says Lord, And touch no unclean thing, and I will receive youand will be for a Father to you, and ye will be for sons and daughters to me, says Lord Almighty.

For though walking in flesh, we do not war according to flesh.For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty in God for the demolition of strongholds,casting down imaginations, and every high thing exalted against the knowledge of God, and bringing every thought captive into the obedience of the Christ,

I have been crucified with Christ, and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. And what I now live in flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God who loved me and gave himself up for me.

Stand firm therefore in the liberty in which Christ freed us, and be not entangled again in a yoke of bondage.

But I say, walk in Spirit and ye will, no, not fulfill a lust of flesh.

Now the works of the flesh are apparent, which are, adultery, fornication, uncleanness, licentiousness,idolatry, sorcery, hatreds, strifes, jealousies, wraths, selfish ambitions, dissentions, factions,envyings, murders, intoxications, revelings, and things like these, of which I forewarn you, as I also did forewarn, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,gentleness, self-control. Against such things there is no law.

for you to put off the old man according to your former conduct, the man who is corrupt according to the desires of deceitfulness,and to be renewed in the spirit of your mind,and to put on the new man according to God, the man who was created in righteousness and piety of the truth.

For ye were once darkness, but now light in Lord. Walk as children of light

And do not become intoxicated with wine, during which is debauchery, but be filled in Spirit,

Finally my brothers, be strong in Lord and in the power of his might.Put on the full armor of God to enable you to stand against the wiles of the devil.

Being confident of this same thing, that he who began a good work in you will complete it until the day of Christ Jesus.

For it is God who works in you both to desire and to work for approval.

Be anxious about nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thankfulness make your requests known to God.And the peace of God that surpasses all understanding will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

Finally brothers, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honorable, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are commendable, if anything is a virtue, and if

I can do all things in the Christ who strengthens me.

Who rescued us out of the power of darkness, and transferred us into the kingdom of the Son of his love,in whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins,

Put to death therefore your body-parts on the earth: fornication, uncleanness, passion, evil desire, and greed, which is idolatry.

But now ye also, put off all these things: anger, wrath, wickedness, reviling, filthy speaking out of your mouth.Do not lie to each other, having stripped off the old man with his practices,and having put on the new man, being renewed in knowledge according to an image of him who created him,

For this is the will of God, your sanctification, for you to abstain from fornication,for each of you to know how to possess his own vessel in sanctification and reverence,

So then let us not sleep, as also the others, but let us watch and be sober.For those who sleep, sleep at night, and those who are intoxicated get drunk at night.But we, being of the day, should be sober, putting on a breastplate of faith and love, and a helmet, the hope of salvation.

Abstain from all appearance of evil.And may the God of peace himself sanctify you thoroughly. And may your spirit and soul and body be preserved complete, blamelessly at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.

But piety with contentment is great gain,

For God did not give us a spirit of cowardice, but of power, and of love, and of soberness.

And flee juvenile impulses, but pursue righteousness, faith, love, peace, with those who call upon the Lord out of a pure heart.

disciplining us, so that, having denied irreverence and worldly lusts, we should live soberly and righteously and piously in the present age.

For in that he himself has suffered, having been tempted, he is able to help those being tempted.

For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but who was tempted in all things in the same way, without sin.Let us therefore come near with boldness to the throne of grace, so that we may take mercy, and may find grace for timely help.

Let us hold firm the affirmation of the hope unwavering, for he who promised is faithful.

Therefore we also, having so great a cloud of witnesses surrounding us, having put off every weight and cleverly entangling sin, let us run by perseverance the contest being set before us.Looking to Jesus the pathfinder and perfecter of the faith, who, against the joy set before him, endured a cross, having despised the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.

And if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask from God who gives to all generously and not reproaching, and it will be given to him.

Blessed is a man who endures temptation, because, having become approved, he will receive the crown of life, which the Lord promised to those who love him.

Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted by God, for God is without temptation of evils, and he himself tempts no man.But each man is tempted by his own lust, being drawn away and enticed.Then the lust having conceived, it gives birth to sin, and after being complete the sin brings forth death.

Therefore having girded up the loins of your mind, being sober, hope entirely for the grace brought to you at the revealing of Jesus Christ.As children of obedience, not fashioning yourselves to the former desires in your ignorance,but according to the Holy Man, he who called you, ye yourselves also become holy in all conduct,because it is written, Become ye holy, since I am holy.

Be sober, be vigilant. Your opponent the devil, as a roaring lion, walks about seeking whom to devour.Whom resist, steadfast in the faith, knowing the same sufferings are to be accomplished in the world by your brotherhood.

If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous so that he will forgive us our sins, and cleanse us from every unrighteousness.
