Vices have serious consequences, not just physically, but spiritually too. They can really tie you down. You might think it's impossible to break free from whatever's got a hold of you, but I want to share the best antidote there is: the blood of Jesus.
When you come to Him and ask for His help, He's faithful and just to strengthen you in your weaknesses. It's not about your own power, because you can't do it on your own. It's about Christ's transforming power working in you.
So don't give up. As long as you're still breathing, there's hope. Jesus can change your life and make you a new person if you just ask Him and seek Him. You can do all things through Christ who strengthens you.
As the Bible says in Isaiah 5:11 (NIV): "Woe to those who rise early in the morning to run after their drinks, who stay up late at night till they are inflamed with wine."
“All things are lawful for me” – but not everything is beneficial. “All things are lawful for me” – but I will not be controlled by anything.
For freedom Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not be subject again to the yoke of slavery.
Stay awake and pray that you will not fall into temptation. The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak.”
Be sober and alert. Your enemy the devil, like a roaring lion, is on the prowl looking for someone to devour.
Do not spend time among drunkards, among those who eat too much meat,because drunkards and gluttons become impoverished, and drowsiness clothes them with rags.
Who has woe? Who has sorrow? Who has contentions? Who has complaints? Who has wounds without cause? Like a city that is broken down and without a wall, so is a person who cannot control his temper.
It is not for kings, O Lemuel, it is not for kings to drink wine, or for rulers to crave strong drink,lest they drink and forget what is decreed, and remove from all the poor their legal rights.
I thought deeply about the effects of indulging myself with wine (all the while my mind was guiding me with wisdom) and the effects of behaving foolishly, so that I might discover what is profitable for people to do on earth during the few days of their lives.
Those who get up early to drink beer are as good as dead, those who keep drinking long after dark until they are intoxicated with wine.
Those who are champions at drinking wine are as good as dead, who display great courage when mixing strong drinks.
Even these men stagger because of wine, they stumble around because of beer – priests and prophets stagger because of beer, they are confused because of wine, they stumble around because of beer; they stagger while seeing prophetic visions, they totter while making legal decisions.Indeed, all the tables are covered with vomit; no place is untouched.
He feeds on ashes; his deceived mind misleads him. He cannot rescue himself, nor does he say, ‘Is this not a false god I hold in my right hand?’
Those who devise sinful plans are as good as dead, those who dream about doing evil as they lie in bed. As soon as morning dawns they carry out their plans, because they have the power to do so.
“No one can serve two masters, for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and money.

but worldly cares, the seductiveness of wealth, and the desire for other things come in and choke the word, and it produces nothing.

No servant can serve two masters, for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and money.”
Do you not know that if you present yourselves as obedient slaves, you are slaves of the one you obey, either of sin resulting in death, or obedience resulting in righteousness?
(I am speaking in human terms because of the weakness of your flesh.) For just as you once presented your members as slaves to impurity and lawlessness leading to more lawlessness, so now present your members as slaves to righteousness leading to sanctification.
For I know that nothing good lives in me, that is, in my flesh. Do you not know that you are God’s temple and that God’s Spirit lives in you?If someone destroys God’s temple, God will destroy him. For God’s temple is holy, which is what you are.
Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own?Or do you not know that the saints will judge the world? “Everything is lawful,” but not everything is beneficial. “Everything is lawful,” but not everything builds others up.
So then, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; what is old has passed away – look, what is new has come!
And what mutual agreement does the temple of God have with idols? For we are the temple of the living God, just as God said, “I will live in them and will walk among them, and I will be their God, and they will be my people.”Therefore “come out from their midst, and be separate,” says the Lord, “and touch no unclean thing, and I will welcome you,and I will be a father to you, and you will be my sons and daughters,” says the All-Powerful Lord.
Therefore, since we have these promises, dear friends, let us cleanse ourselves from everything that could defile the body and the spirit, and thus accomplish holiness out of reverence for God.
For you were called to freedom, brothers and sisters; only do not use your freedom as an opportunity to indulge your flesh, but through love serve one another.
But I say, live by the Spirit and you will not carry out the desires of the flesh.For the flesh has desires that are opposed to the Spirit, and the Spirit has desires that are opposed to the flesh, for these are in opposition to each other, so that you cannot do what you want.

Their end is destruction, their god is the belly, they exult in their shame, and they think about earthly things.
So put to death whatever in your nature belongs to the earth: sexual immorality, impurity, shameful passion, evil desire, and greed which is idolatry.
But now, put off all such things as anger, rage, malice, slander, abusive language from your mouth.
So then we must not sleep as the rest, but must stay alert and sober.For those who sleep, sleep at night and those who get drunk are drunk at night.But since we are of the day, we must stay sober by putting on the breastplate of faith and love and as a helmet our hope for salvation.
Stay away from every form of evil.Now may the God of peace himself make you completely holy and may your spirit and soul and body be kept entirely blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.
But keep away from youthful passions, and pursue righteousness, faithfulness, love, and peace, in company with others who call on the Lord from a pure heart.
It trains us to reject godless ways and worldly desires and to live self-controlled, upright, and godly lives in the present age,
Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, we must get rid of every weight and the sin that clings so closely, and run with endurance the race set out for us,For they disciplined us for a little while as seemed good to them, but he does so for our benefit, that we may share his holiness.Now all discipline seems painful at the time, not joyful. The one who practices sin is of the devil, because the devil has been sinning from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was revealed: to destroy the works of the devil.
because everyone who has been fathered by God conquers the world. This is the conquering power that has conquered the world: our faith.Now who is the person who has conquered the world except the one who believes that Jesus is the Son of God?
We know that everyone fathered by God does not sin, but God protects the one he has fathered, and the evil one cannot touch him.

We tear down argumentsand every arrogant obstacle that is raised up against the knowledge of God, and we take every thought captive to make it obey Christ.
Finally, be strengthened in the Lord and in the strength of his power.Clothe yourselves with the full armor of God so that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil.
For I am sure of this very thing, that the one who began a good work in you will perfect it until the day of Christ Jesus.
Do not be anxious about anything. Instead, in every situation, through prayer and petition with thanksgiving, tell your requests to God.And the peace of God that surpasses all understanding will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.
And my God will supply your every need according to his glorious riches in Christ Jesus.
For we do not have a high priest incapable of sympathizing with our weaknesses, but one who has been tempted in every way just as we are, yet without sin.Therefore let us confidently approach the throne of grace to receive mercy and find grace whenever we need help.
And let us hold unwaveringly to the hope that we confess, for the one who made the promise is trustworthy.
And the prayer of faith will save the one who is sick and the Lord will raise him up – and if he has committed sins, he will be forgiven.So confess your sins to one another and pray for one another so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person has great effectiveness.
And the one seated on the throne said: “Look! I am making all things new!” Then he said to me, “Write it down, because these words are reliable and true.”
