Vices have serious consequences, not just physically, but spiritually too. They can really tie you down. You might think it's impossible to break free from whatever's got a hold of you, but I want to share the best antidote there is: the blood of Jesus.

When you come to Him and ask for His help, He's faithful and just to strengthen you in your weaknesses. It's not about your own power, because you can't do it on your own. It's about Christ's transforming power working in you.

So don't give up. As long as you're still breathing, there's hope. Jesus can change your life and make you a new person if you just ask Him and seek Him. You can do all things through Christ who strengthens you.

As the Bible says in Isaiah 5:11 (NIV): "Woe to those who rise early in the morning to run after their drinks, who stay up late at night till they are inflamed with wine."

‘Everything is permissible  for me,’ but not everything is beneficial. ‘Everything is permissible for me,’ but I will not be mastered by anything.

Therefore, submit to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.

For freedom, Christ set us free. Stand firm,  then, and don’t submit again to a yoke of slavery.

Stay awake and pray, so that you won’t enter into temptation. The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak.’

Be sober-minded,  be alert.  Your adversary the devil  is prowling around like a roaring lion, looking for anyone he can devour.

And do not bring us into    temptation, but deliver us from the evil one.   ,

Don’t associate with those who drink too much wine or with those who gorge themselves on meat. For the drunkard and the glutton will become poor, and grogginess will clothe them in rags.

Do not be deceived: ‘Bad company corrupts good morals.’

Who has woe? Who has sorrow? Who has conflicts? Who has complaints? Who has wounds for no reason? Who has red eyes?don’t desire his delicacies, for that food is deceptive.Those who linger over wine; those who go looking for mixed wine. Don’t gaze at wine because it is red, because it gleams in the cup and goes down smoothly. In the end it bites like a snake and stings like a viper.

Jesus responded, ‘Truly I tell you, everyone who commits sin is a slave of sin.

For if we have been united with him in the likeness of his death,  we will certainly also be  in the likeness of his resurrection.For we know that our old self  , was crucified with him  so that the body ruled by sin  might be rendered powerless,  so that we may no longer be enslaved to sin,

So if the Son sets you free, you really will be free.

No temptation has come upon you except what is common to humanity. But God is faithful;  he will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation he will also provide the way out  so that you may be able to bear it.

For the grace of God has appeared, bringing salvation  for all people,instructing us to deny godlessness  and worldly lusts  and to live in a sensible, righteous,  and godly  way in the present age,

But put on the Lord Jesus Christ,  and make no provision for the flesh to gratify its desires.

Wine is a mocker,  beer is a brawler; whoever goes astray  because of them is not wise.

Now the works of the flesh are obvious:  sexual immorality,  moral impurity,  promiscuity,Take note! I, Paul, am telling you that if you have yourselves circumcised, Christ will not benefit you at all.idolatry,  sorcery,  hatreds,  strife,  jealousy,  outbursts of anger,  selfish ambitions,  dissensions,  factions,envy,  , drunkenness, carousing,  and anything similar. I am warning you about these things #– #as I warned you before #– #that those who practise such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.

A person who does not control his temper is like a city whose wall is broken down.

As a dog returns to its vomit, so also a fool repeats his foolishness.

It is not for kings, Lemuel, it is not for kings  to drink wine or for rulers to desire beer.Otherwise, he will drink, forget what is decreed, and pervert justice for all the oppressed.  ,

I explored with my mind the pull of wine  on my body #– #my mind still guiding me with wisdom #– #and how to grasp folly,  until I could see what is good for people to do under heaven  during the few days of their lives.

Woe to those who rise early in the morning in pursuit of beer, who linger into the evening, inflamed by wine.

Woe to those who are heroes at drinking wine, who are champions at pouring beer,

Even these stagger because of wine and stumble under the influence of beer: Priest and prophet stagger because of beer. They are confused by wine. They stumble because of beer. They are muddled in their visions. They stumble in their judgements.Indeed, all their tables are covered with vomit; there is no place without a stench.

He feeds on   ashes. His deceived mind has led him astray, and he cannot rescue himself, or say, ‘Isn’t there a lie in my right hand? ’

Promiscuity,  wine, and new wine take away one’s understanding.

Woe to those who dream up wickedness and prepare evil plans  on their beds! At morning light  they accomplish it because the power is in their hands.

‘No one can serve two masters, since either he will hate one and love the other, or he will be devoted to one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money.

‘Come to me, all of you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.Take my yoke upon you and learn from me,   because I am lowly and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.and asked him, ‘Are you the one who is to come, or should we expect someone else? ’ For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.’

but the worries   of this age,   the deceitfulness   , of wealth,   and the desires   for other things enter in and choke the word, and it becomes unfruitful.

He then told them, ‘Watch out and be on your guard   against all greed,   because one’s life is not in the abundance of his possessions.’

No   servant can serve two masters, since either he will hate   one and love the other, or he will be devoted to one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money.’

Therefore do not let sin reign in your mortal body, so that you obey  its desires.

Don’t you know that if you offer yourselves to someone  as obedient slaves,  you are slaves of that one you obey   #– #either of sin leading to death  or of obedience leading to righteousness?

I am using a human analogy  because of the weakness of your flesh.  For just as you offered the parts of yourselves as slaves to impurity, and to greater and greater lawlessness, so now offer them as slaves to righteousness, which results in sanctification.

For I know that nothing good lives in me, that is, in my flesh.  For the desire to do what is good is with me, but there is no ability to do it.For I do not do the good that I want to do, but I practise the evil that I do not want to do.For example, a married woman is legally bound to her husband while he lives.  But if her husband dies, she is released from the law regarding the husband.Now if I do what I do not want, I am no longer the one that does it, but it is the sin that lives in me.

Therefore, brothers and sisters, in view of the mercies of God, I urge you  to present your bodies as a living sacrifice,  holy and pleasing to God; this is your true worship.Love one another deeply as brothers and sisters.  Take the lead in honouring one another.Do not lack diligence in zeal; be fervent in the Spirit;  , serve the Lord.Rejoice in hope;  be patient in affliction;  be persistent in prayer.Share with the saints in their needs;  pursue hospitality.Bless those who persecute you;  bless and do not curse.Rejoice with those who rejoice;  weep with those who weep.Live in harmony with one another.  Do not be proud;  instead, associate with the humble. Do not be wise in your own estimation.Do not repay anyone evil for evil.  Give careful thought to do what is honourable  in everyone’s eyes.If possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone.Friends, do not avenge yourselves; instead, leave room for God’s wrath, because it is written, Vengeance belongs to me; I will repay,   , says the Lord.Do not be conformed  to this age,  but be transformed by the renewing of your mind,  so that you may discern what is the good, pleasing, and perfect will  of God.

Let us walk with decency,  as in the daytime: not in carousing and drunkenness;  not in sexual impurity and promiscuity; not in quarrelling and jealousy.But put on the Lord Jesus Christ,  and make no provision for the flesh to gratify its desires.

Don’t you yourselves know that you are God’s temple  and that the Spirit of God lives in you?If anyone destroys God’s temple, God will destroy him;  for God’s temple is holy,  and that is what you are.

Don’t you know that your body is a temple  of the Holy Spirit  who is in you,  whom you have from God? You are not your own,Or don’t you know that the saints will judge the world? And if the world is judged by you, are you unworthy to judge the trivial cases?for you were bought  at a price. So glorify God with your body.

Don’t you know that the runners in a stadium all race,  but only one receives the prize? Run in such a way as to win the prize.Now everyone who competes exercises self-control  in everything. They do it to receive a perishable crown,  but we an imperishable crown.So I do not run like one who runs aimlessly or box like one beating the air.Instead, I discipline my body and bring it under strict control, so that after preaching to others, I myself will not be disqualified.

Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation;  the old has passed away, and see,  the new has  come!

So then, dear friends, since we have these promises,  let us cleanse ourselves from every impurity of the flesh and spirit,  bringing holiness to completion  in the fear of God.

For you were called  to be free, brothers and sisters; only don’t use this freedom as an opportunity  for the flesh, but serve one another through love.

I say, then, walk by the Spirit  and you will certainly not carry out the desire of the flesh.For the flesh desires  what is against the Spirit, and the Spirit desires what is against the flesh; these are opposed to each other, so that you don’t do what you want.

But the fruit of the Spirit  is love,  joy,  peace, patience,  kindness,  goodness, faithfulness,gentleness,  and self-control.  The law is not against such things.

to take off  , your former way of life,  the old self  that is corrupted by deceitful desires,to be renewed  in the spirit  of your minds,and to put on  , the new self, the one created  according to God’s likeness  in righteousness and purity of the truth.

And don’t get drunk  with wine,  which leads to reckless living, but be filled by the Spirit:

Their end is destruction; their god is their stomach; their glory  is in their shame; and they are focused on earthly things.

I am able to do all things through him  who strengthens me.

Therefore, put to death what belongs to your earthly nature: sexual immorality, impurity,  lust,  evil desire, and greed,  which is idolatry.

But now, put away  all the following: anger,  wrath,  malice,  slander,  and filthy language from your mouth.

So then, let us not sleep, like the rest, but let us stay awake and be self-controlled.For those who sleep, sleep at night, and those who get drunk, get drunk at night.But since we belong to the day, let us be self-controlled  and put on the armour  of faith and love, and a helmet  of the hope of salvation.

Stay away  from every kind of evil. Now may the God of peace  himself sanctify you completely. And may your whole spirit,  soul, and body be kept sound and blameless at the coming  of our Lord  Jesus Christ.

For God has not given us a spirit of fear,  but one of power,  , love,  and sound judgement.

Flee  from youthful passions, and pursue righteousness, faith, love, and peace,  along with those who call on the Lord  from a pure heart.

Therefore, since we also have such a large cloud of witnesses  surrounding us, let us lay aside every hindrance and the sin that so easily ensnares us. Later on, however, it yields the peaceful fruit  of righteousness to those who have been trained by it. Pursue peace with everyone, and holiness   #– #without it no one will see the Lord.

No one undergoing a trial should say, ‘I am being tempted by God,’ since God is not tempted by evil, and he himself doesn’t tempt anyone.But each person is tempted when he is drawn away and enticed by his own evil desire.Then after desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin, and when sin is fully grown, it gives birth to death.

My dear brothers and sisters, understand this: Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak, and slow to anger,Consider it a great joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you experience various trials,for human anger does not accomplish God’s righteousness.Therefore, ridding yourselves of all moral filth and the evil that is so prevalent,  humbly receive the implanted word, which is able to save your souls.

Therefore, with your minds ready for action,  be sober-minded  and set your hope  completely on the grace to be brought to you at the revelation  of Jesus Christ.As obedient children,  do not be conformed to the desires of your former ignorance.But as the one who called you  is holy,  you also are to be holy in all your conduct;

Dear friends, I urge you as strangers and exiles  to abstain  from sinful  desires that wage war against the soul.

Therefore, since Christ suffered  in the flesh, arm yourselves also with the same understanding   #– #because the one who suffers in the flesh is finished  with sin   #– #Just as each one has received a gift, use it to serve others,  as good stewards of the varied grace of God.If anyone speaks, let it be as one who speaks God’s words; if anyone serves, let it be from the strength God provides,  so that God may be glorified through Jesus Christ in everything. To him be the glory and the power for ever and ever. Amen. Dear friends, don’t be surprised when the fiery ordeal comes among you to test you, as if something unusual were happening to you.Instead, rejoice as you share in the sufferings of Christ,  so that you may also rejoice with great joy when his glory is revealed.If you are ridiculed for the name of Christ,  you are blessed, because the Spirit  of glory and of God  rests on you.Let none of you suffer as a murderer, a thief, an evildoer, or a meddler.But if anyone suffers as a Christian, let him not be ashamed but let him glorify God in having that name.For the time has come for judgement  to begin with God’s household,  and if it begins with us, what will the outcome be for those who disobey the gospel of God? And if a righteous person is saved with difficulty, what will become of the ungodly and the sinner?   , So then, let those who suffer according to God’s will entrust themselves  to a faithful Creator while doing what is good.in order to live the remaining time in the flesh no longer for human desires, but for God’s will.For there has already been enough time spent in doing what the Gentiles choose to do: carrying on in unrestrained behaviour, evil desires,  drunkenness, orgies,  carousing, and lawless idolatry.

They promise them freedom, but they themselves are slaves of corruption, since people are enslaved to whatever defeats them.

Do not love the world  or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him.For everything in the world #– #the lust of the flesh,  the lust of the eyes,  and the pride  in one’s possessions #– #is not from the Father, but is from the world.And the world with its lust is passing away,  but the one who does the will of God  remains for ever.

The one who commits  sin is of the devil, for the devil has sinned from the beginning. The Son of God  was revealed  for this purpose: to destroy the devil’s works.

because everyone who has been born of God conquers the world. This is the victory that has conquered the world: our faith.Who is the one who conquers the world  but the one who believes that Jesus is the Son of God?

We know that everyone who has been born of God does not sin, but the one who is born of God keeps him,  , and the evil one does not touch him.

Guard your heart above all else, for it is the source of life.

Do not fear, for I am with you; do not be afraid, for I am your God. I will strengthen you; I will help you; I will hold on to you with my righteous right hand.

Isn’t this the fast I choose: To break the chains of wickedness, to untie the ropes of the yoke, to set the oppressed free, and to tear off every yoke?

No, in all these things we are more than conquerors  through him who loved us.

So then, my dear friends, flee from idolatry.

For although we live in the flesh, we do not wage war according to the flesh,since the weapons of our warfare  are not of the flesh, but are powerful  through God for the demolition of strongholds. We demolish argumentsand every proud thing that is raised up against the knowledge  of God, and we take every thought captive to obey Christ.

Finally, be strengthened by the Lord and by his vast strength.Put on  the full armour  of God so that you can stand against the schemes of the devil.

I am sure of this, that he who started a good work  in you  will carry it on to completion  until the day of Christ Jesus.

Don’t worry about anything, but in everything, through prayer and petition with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.And the peace of God, which surpasses  all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.

And my God  will supply all your needs according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus.

For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathise with our weaknesses, but one who has been tempted in every way as we are,  yet without sin.Therefore, let us approach the throne of grace with boldness, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in time of need.

Let us hold on to the confession of our hope without wavering, since he who promised is faithful.

The prayer of faith will save the ill person, and the Lord will raise him up; if he has committed sins, he will be forgiven.Therefore, confess your sins to one another and pray for one another, so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is very powerful in its effect.

Then the one seated on the throne said, ‘Look, I am making everything new.’ He also said, ‘Write, because these words  are faithful and true.’
