101 Bible Verses about Drunkards

I want to talk to you about something that might be hitting close to home: the struggle with alcohol. It can lead us down some pretty rough paths, hurting ourselves and those around us. It's important to really think about the ripple effect our choices have, you know? We have to own our actions.

If you're finding yourself in situations where alcohol is taking control, please know there's support out there. Don't hesitate to reach out and get the help you need to stay safe and healthy.

From my perspective, alcoholism, like any addiction, is a form of idolatry. Anything we turn to instead of God to fill that deep need in our hearts becomes an idol, and ultimately, a spiritual chain.

I want to share something that can truly set you free from this struggle. It's the power of Christ's blood. I believe it's strong enough to cleanse you, detoxify you, and make you a new person. There's real freedom waiting for you.

no thieves,  greedy  people, drunkards, verbally abusive people,  or swindlers  will inherit God’s kingdom.

And don’t get drunk  with wine,  which leads to reckless living, but be filled by the Spirit:

Don’t associate with those who drink too much wine or with those who gorge themselves on meat.

Wake up, you drunkards,  and weep; wail, all you wine drinkers, because of the sweet wine, for it has been taken from your mouth.

For the drunkard and the glutton will become poor, and grogginess will clothe them in rags.

Be sober-minded,  be alert.  Your adversary the devil  is prowling around like a roaring lion, looking for anyone he can devour.

It is a good thing not to eat meat, or drink wine, or do anything that makes your brother or sister stumble.

If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive  us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

So if the Son sets you free, you really will be free.

Don’t gaze at wine because it is red, because it gleams in the cup and goes down smoothly.

They grope around in darkness without light; he makes them stagger like a drunkard.

It is not for kings, Lemuel, it is not for kings  to drink wine or for rulers to desire beer.

Wine is a mocker,  beer is a brawler; whoever goes astray  because of them is not wise.

Now the works of the flesh are obvious:  sexual immorality,  moral impurity,  promiscuity,Take note! I, Paul, am telling you that if you have yourselves circumcised, Christ will not benefit you at all.idolatry,  sorcery,  hatreds,  strife,  jealousy,  outbursts of anger,  selfish ambitions,  dissensions,  factions,envy,  , drunkenness, carousing,  and anything similar. I am warning you about these things #– #as I warned you before #– #that those who practise such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.

Woe to those who rise early in the morning in pursuit of beer, who linger into the evening, inflamed by wine.At their feasts they have lyre, harp, tambourine, flute, and wine. They do not perceive the  Lord’s actions, and they do not see the work of his hands.

Don’t associate with those who drink too much wine or with those who gorge themselves on meat. For the drunkard and the glutton will become poor, and grogginess will clothe them in rags.

Who has woe? Who has sorrow? Who has conflicts? Who has complaints? Who has wounds for no reason? Who has red eyes?don’t desire his delicacies, for that food is deceptive.Those who linger over wine; those who go looking for mixed wine. In the end it bites like a snake and stings like a viper.Your eyes will see strange things, and you will say absurd things.  , You’ll be like someone sleeping out at sea or lying down on the top of a ship’s mast.‘They struck me, but   I feel no pain! They beat me, but I didn’t know it! When will I wake up? I’ll look for another drink.’

For there has already been enough time spent in doing what the Gentiles choose to do: carrying on in unrestrained behaviour, evil desires,  drunkenness, orgies,  carousing, and lawless idolatry.

Deacons,  likewise, should be worthy of respect, not hypocritical, not drinking a lot of wine, not greedy for money,

It is not for kings, Lemuel, it is not for kings  to drink wine or for rulers to desire beer.Otherwise, he will drink, forget what is decreed, and pervert justice for all the oppressed.  ,

‘Be on your guard,   so that your minds are not dulled   from carousing,   drunkenness,   and worries of life,   or that day will come on you unexpectedly

Let us walk with decency,  as in the daytime: not in carousing and drunkenness;  not in sexual impurity and promiscuity; not in quarrelling and jealousy.But put on the Lord Jesus Christ,  and make no provision for the flesh to gratify its desires.

But actually, I wrote  you not to associate with anyone who claims to be a brother or sister  and is sexually immoral or greedy, an idolater or verbally abusive, a drunkard  or a swindler. Do not even eat with such a person.

Give beer to one who is dying and wine to one whose life is bitter. Let him drink so that he can forget his poverty and remember his trouble no more.

For at the meal, each one eats his own supper.  So one person is hungry while another gets drunk!

I explored with my mind the pull of wine  on my body #– #my mind still guiding me with wisdom #– #and how to grasp folly,  until I could see what is good for people to do under heaven  during the few days of their lives.

Dear friends, I urge you as strangers and exiles  to abstain  from sinful  desires that wage war against the soul.

Woe to the majestic crown of Ephraim’s drunkards, and to the fading flower of its beautiful splendour, which is on the summit above the rich valley. Woe to those overcome with wine.‘Law after law, law after law, line after line, line after line, a little here, a little there.’ For he will speak to this people with stammering speech and in a foreign language. Indeed, I have heard from the Lord God of Armies a decree of destruction for the whole land. Listen and hear my voice. Pay attention and hear what I say.Does the ploughman plough every day to plant seed? Does he continuously break up and cultivate the soil?When he has levelled its surface, does he not then scatter black cumin and sow cumin? He plants wheat in rows and barley in plots, with spelt as their border.His God teaches him order; he instructs him.Certainly black cumin is not threshed with a threshing board, and a cartwheel is not rolled over the cumin. But black cumin is beaten out with a stick, and cumin with a rod.Bread grain is crushed, but is not threshed endlessly. Though the wheel of the farmer’s cart rumbles, his horses do not crush it.This also comes from the  Lord of Armies. He gives wondrous advice; he gives great wisdom.The majestic crown of Ephraim’s drunkards will be trampled underfoot.

So, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do everything for the glory of God.

A discerning son keeps the law, but a companion of gluttons humiliates his father.

Do not be conformed  to this age,  but be transformed by the renewing of your mind,  so that you may discern what is the good, pleasing, and perfect will  of God.

Don’t continue drinking only water, but use a little wine because of your stomach and your frequent illnesses.

Foolishness brings joy to one without sense, but a person with understanding walks a straight path.

The one who loves pleasure will become poor; whoever loves wine and oil will not get rich.

Don’t you know that the runners in a stadium all race,  but only one receives the prize? Run in such a way as to win the prize.Now everyone who competes exercises self-control  in everything. They do it to receive a perishable crown,  but we an imperishable crown.So I do not run like one who runs aimlessly or box like one beating the air.Instead, I discipline my body and bring it under strict control, so that after preaching to others, I myself will not be disqualified.

For he will be great in the sight of the Lord and will never drink wine or beer.  He will be filled with the Holy Spirit  while still in his mother’s womb.

A wise warrior is better than a strong one, and a man of knowledge than one of strength;  ,

It is also the gift of God whenever anyone eats, drinks, and enjoys all his efforts.

Let your graciousness  be known to everyone. The Lord is near.

Therefore, put to death what belongs to your earthly nature: sexual immorality, impurity,  lust,  evil desire, and greed,  which is idolatry.

A fool’s way is right in his own eyes, but whoever listens to counsel is wise.

Brothers and sisters, if someone is overtaken in any wrongdoing, you who are spiritual, restore such a person with a gentle  spirit,  , watching out for yourselves so that you won’t also be tempted.

If you stop listening to correction, my son, you will stray from the words of knowledge.

and don’t give the devil an opportunity.

Patience is better than power, and controlling one’s emotions,  than capturing a city.

But I tell you, I will not drink from this fruit of the vine from now on until that day when I drink it new with you in my Father’s kingdom.’

Therefore, brothers and sisters, in view of the mercies of God, I urge you  to present your bodies as a living sacrifice,  holy and pleasing to God; this is your true worship.

Don’t you yourselves know that you are God’s temple  and that the Spirit of God lives in you?

The inexperienced one believes anything, but the sensible one watches  his steps.

The Son of Man came eating and drinking, and they say, “Look, a glutton and a drunkard,   a friend of tax collectors and sinners! ”   Yet wisdom is vindicated   by her deeds.’

For the flesh desires  what is against the Spirit, and the Spirit desires what is against the flesh; these are opposed to each other, so that you don’t do what you want.

But whoever doubts stands condemned if he eats,  because his eating is not from faith,  and everything that is not from faith is sin.

Let him drink so that he can forget his poverty and remember his trouble no more.

I did not mean the immoral people of this world or the greedy  and swindlers  or idolaters; otherwise you would have to leave the world.

A man who loves wisdom brings joy to his father, but one who consorts with prostitutes destroys his wealth.

Even these stagger because of wine and stumble under the influence of beer: Priest and prophet stagger because of beer. They are confused by wine. They stumble because of beer. They are muddled in their visions. They stumble in their judgements.

A violent person lures his neighbour, leading him on a path that is not good.

Now the mindset of the flesh  is death,  but the mindset of the Spirit is life and peace.

Instead, I discipline my body and bring it under strict control, so that after preaching to others, I myself will not be disqualified.

As shameful conduct is pleasure for a fool, so wisdom is for a person of understanding.

For each person will have to carry his own load.

They no longer sing and drink wine; beer is bitter to those who drink it.
