106 Bible verses about Tithes

106 Bible verses about Tithes

Tithing, as a form of giving back to God, was established in the Old Testament to provide for the Levites, the temple or tabernacle expenses, and to help widows, orphans, and the poor. Giving tithes and offerings isn't something to take lightly; it reflects the condition of your heart. It's not just about giving money, but about expressing genuine generosity.

When you tithe, you put your faith into action, showing trust in God's abundant grace. You demonstrate your love, remembering that God gave the best He had—His son, Jesus—out of love for you. Giving with excellence isn't about bragging about how much you give, but about expressing your love for God through cheerful, obedient giving.

A tithe represents a tenth of what you receive, given back to God. The first recorded tithe in the Bible was Abraham's tithe to Melchizedek1 as a sign of gratitude. When you tithe, you express thanks to the Father for all your blessings, acknowledging His mercy and undeserved favor.

Tithing and offering are acts of worship. Amazing things happen when you worship through giving. You join in the cycle of financial freedom that God has for you. If you receive but don't tithe, you break that cycle.

Your main motivation for tithing should be to participate in the divine blessings God has for every believer. When you embrace this understanding, your life changes. Don't follow the example of those who choose not to tithe for personal reasons; that prevents God's overflowing abundance from flowing. Give to God because you love Him and are grateful for all He's done for you.

Prayer

Thank you, because You are my healer, my provider, and my keeper. You are the one who fights my battles and the one who takes me from glory to glory. In the mighty name of Jesus, I present my tithes to You. Look with favor upon what I have joyfully brought to Your altar. I have promised with my mouth and believed in my heart that I will serve You, and so I willingly offer my tithes. From what I've received from Your hand today, I come to honor You through the work You've enabled me to do. Thank You for the inexhaustible source of blessing You've placed in my life through Your Holy Spirit. You are the owner of the gold and the silver; what I can offer falls short of all You have given me throughout my journey. I recognize that You have been faithful even when I have been unfaithful. You continue to love and care for me no matter what I do. I have set aside a portion of my earnings, the same proportion that You have given me in making me prosper, to honor You. I praise and bless Your name, God, because You have promised to provide for and sustain me until the world passes away. I have seen Your power help my family in difficult times; You truly do not forsake Your children, nor their descendants. I pray to You like David: "Give me neither poverty nor riches, but give me only my daily bread. Otherwise, I may have too much and disown you and say, ‘Who is the Lord?’ Or I may become poor and steal, and so dishonor the name of my God." Keep me from failing to give what is due to You from my wages. Help and guide me to be a good steward of the money You give me, and bless the work of my hands always. I don't want to fail You in this. Give me direction and revelation, for Your word says, "Will a mere mortal rob God? Yet you rob me. But you ask, ‘How do we rob you?’ In tithes and offerings." In the name of Jesus, receive glory and honor, Amen!
