I know without a doubt that God’s ultimate purpose is for me to become more and more like Jesus. So, my main goal in life should be to learn and grow and be shaped to be more like Him. Everything, even the tough times and struggles, is designed to help me reach that goal.
First Peter 1:6-71 says, "In all this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while you may have had to suffer grief in all kinds of trials. These have come so that the proven genuineness of your faith—of greater worth than gold, which perishes even though refined by fire—may result in praise, glory and honor when Jesus Christ is revealed." It's a powerful reminder that the trials I face will actually strengthen my faith, letting me rest in knowing that God is real and He’s always faithful.
Count it all joy, my brethren, when ye fall into manifold temptations;knowing that the proving of your faith worketh patience.
Count it all joy, my brethren, when ye fall into manifold temptations;knowing that the proving of your faith worketh patience. And let patience have {\i its} perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, lacking in nothing.\par
Blessed is the man that endureth temptation; for when he hath been approved, he shall receive the crown of life, which {\i the Lord} promised to them that love him.
that the proof of your faith, {\i being} more precious than gold that perisheth though it is proved by fire, may be found unto praise and glory and honor at the revelation of Jesus Christ:
But he knoweth the way that I take;\par\tab When he hath tried me, I shall come forth as gold.
And not only so, but we also rejoice in our tribulations: knowing that tribulation worketh stedfastness;and stedfastness, approvedness; and approvedness, hope:and hope putteth not to shame; because the love of God hath been shed abroad in our hearts through the Holy Spirit which was given unto us.
Wherein ye greatly rejoice, though now for a little while, if need be, ye have been put to grief in manifold trials,
Thou hast proved my heart; thou hast visited me in the night;\par\tab Thou hast tried me, and findest nothing;\par\tab I am purposed that my mouth shall not transgress.
to whom he also showed himself alive after his passion by many proofs, appearing unto them by the space of forty days, and speaking the things concerning the kingdom of God:
For to this end also did I write, that I might know the proof of you, whether ye are obedient in all things.
but even as we have been approved of God to be intrusted with the gospel, so we speak; not as pleasing men, but God who proveth our hearts.
For I, Jehovah thy God, will hold thy right hand, saying unto thee, Fear not; I will help thee.
Wherein ye greatly rejoice, though now for a little while, if need be, ye have been put to grief in manifold trials, that the proof of your faith, {\i being} more precious than gold that perisheth though it is proved by fire, may be found unto praise and glory and honor at the revelation of Jesus Christ:
And not only so, but we also rejoice in our tribulations: knowing that tribulation worketh stedfastness;and stedfastness, approvedness; and approvedness, hope:
who fed thee in the wilderness with manna, which thy fathers knew not; that he might humble thee, and that he might prove thee, to do thee good at thy latter end:
For thou, O God, hast proved us:\par\tab Thou hast tried us, as silver is tried.Thou broughtest us into the net;\par\tab Thou layedst a sore burden upon our loins.Thou didst cause men to ride over our heads;\par\tab We went through fire and through water;\par\tab But thou broughtest us out into a wealthy place.
But let each man prove his own work, and then shall he have his glorying in regard of himself alone, and not of his neighbor.
Therefore let us also, seeing we are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us,looking unto Jesus the author and perfecter of {\i our} faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising shame, and hath sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.
{\b {\i A Psalm} of David.}\par\par\tab Jehovah is my light and my salvation;\par\tab Whom shall I fear?\par\tab Jehovah is the strength of my life;\par\tab Of whom shall I be afraid?
and if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with {\i him}, that we may be also glorified with {\i him}.\parFor I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed to us-ward.
There hath no temptation taken you but such as man can bear: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation make also the way of escape, that ye may be able to endure it.\par
And we know that to them that love God all things work together for good, {\i even} to them that are called according to {\i his} purpose.
Trust in Jehovah with all thy heart,\par\tab And lean not upon thine own understanding:In all thy ways acknowledge him,\par\tab And he will direct thy paths.
And let us not be weary in well-doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.
And he hath said unto me, {\cf6 My grace is sufficient for thee: for {\i my} power is made perfect in weakness.} Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my weaknesses, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.Wherefore I take pleasure in weaknesses, in injuries, in necessities, in persecutions, in distresses, for Christ's sake: for when I am weak, then am I strong.\par
The refining pot is for silver, and the furnace for gold;\par\tab But Jehovah trieth the hearts.
and he said, Naked came I out of my mother's womb, and naked shall I return thither: Jehovah gave, and Jehovah hath taken away; blessed be the name of Jehovah. In all this Job sinned not, nor charged God foolishly.\par
if we endure, we shall also reign with him: if we shall deny him, he also will deny us:
confirming the souls of the disciples, exhorting them to continue in the faith, and that through many tribulations we must enter into the kingdom of God.
Beloved, think it not strange concerning the fiery trial among you, which cometh upon you to prove you, as though a strange thing happened unto you:but insomuch as ye are partakers of Christ's sufferings, rejoice; that at the revelation of his glory also ye may rejoice with exceeding joy.
Wherefore take up the whole armor of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and, having done all, to stand.
Blessed are they that have been persecuted for righteousness' sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.Blessed are ye when {\i men} shall reproach you, and persecute you, and say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake.Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great is your reward in heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets that were before you.\par
Out of my distress I called upon Jehovah:\par\tab Jehovah answered me {\i and set me} in a large place.Jehovah is on my side; I will not fear:\par\tab What can man do unto me?
Many are the afflictions of the righteous;\par\tab But Jehovah delivereth him out of them all.
that no man be moved by these afflictions; for yourselves know that hereunto we are appointed. For verily, when we were with you, we told you beforehand that we are to suffer affliction; even as it came to pass, and ye know.
When thou passest through the waters, I will be with thee; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow thee: when thou walkest through the fire, thou shalt not be burned, neither shall the flame kindle upon thee.
