55 Bible Verses to Overcome Temptation

Life is a journey, a time where we can learn to use our free will to overcome temptation and choose to follow Jesus. It's true, the Bible calls these times "perilous" (2 Timothy 3:1), and you can really feel the pull of the world around us. But there's hope. You have the power within you to overcome and resist temptation through the Holy Spirit.

If you humble yourself before God and pray consistently for strength, you won't be tempted beyond what you can handle. It's about drawing closer to Him, leaning on Him, and trusting that He'll give you the strength you need to make it through anything.

And when he came to the place, he said to them, “Pray that you will not enter into temptation.”

No one who is being tempted should say, “I am being tempted by God,” for God cannot be tempted by evil, and he himself tempts no one.But each one is tempted when he is dragged away and enticed by his own desires.

For in that which he himself suffered when he was tempted, he is able to help those who are tempted.

Stay awake and pray that you will not enter into temptation. The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak!”

Temptation has not come upon you except what is common to humanity. But God is faithful, who will not permit you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but will also make a way out together with the temptation, so that you may be able to endure it.

Blessed is the person who endures testing, because when he is approved he will receive the crown of life that he has promised to those who love him.

and he said to them, “Why are you sleeping? Get up and pray that you will not enter into temptation!”

Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.

And do not bring us into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one.

Put on the full armor of God, so that you may be able to stand against the stratagems of the devil,because our struggle is not against blood and flesh, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the world rulers of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places.

You are from God, little children, and have conquered them, because the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world.

Finally, brothers, whatever things are true, whatever things are honorable, whatever things are right, whatever things are pure, whatever things are pleasing, whatever things are commendable, if there is any excellence of character and if anything praiseworthy, think about these things.

But sexual immorality, and all uncleanness, or greediness, must not even be named among you (as is fitting for saints),

But you, O man of God, flee from these things, and pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patient endurance, gentleness.Fight the good fight of the faith; take hold of the eternal life to which you were called, and confessed the good confession in the presence of many witnesses.

Trust Yahweh with all your heart; do not lean toward your own understanding.In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will straighten your paths.

And do not be conformed to this age, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, so that you may approve what is the good and well-pleasing and perfect will of God.

Also, keep back your servant from arrogant sins; let them not rule over me. Then I shall be blameless, and I shall be innocent of great transgression.

You must not fear, for I am with you; you must not be afraid, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, indeed I will help you, indeed I will take hold of you with the right hand of my salvation.
