There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.
Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation: the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.
Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:whom resist stedfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world.
For in that he himself hath suffered being tempted, he is able to succour them that are tempted.
But put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make not provision for the flesh, to fulfil the lusts thereof.
Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.
And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.
Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him.For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever.
Blessed is the man that endureth temptation: for when he is tried, he shall receive the crown of life, which the Lord hath promised to them that love him.Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God: for God cannot be tempted with evil, neither tempteth he any man:but every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed.Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death.
Flee also youthful lusts: but follow righteousness, faith, charity, peace, with them that call on the Lord out of a pure heart.
Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, that ye should obey it in the lusts thereof.Neither yield ye your members as instruments of unrighteousness unto sin: but yield yourselves unto God, as those that are alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness unto God.For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace.
Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.
I will set no wicked thing before mine eyes: I hate the work of them that turn aside; It shall not cleave to me.
And if thy right eye offend thee, pluck it out, and cast it from thee: for it is profitable for thee that one of thy members should perish, and not that thy whole body should be cast into hell.And if thy right hand offend thee, cut it off, and cast it from thee: for it is profitable for thee that one of thy members should perish, and not that thy whole body should be cast into hell.
Enter not into the path of the wicked, And go not in the way of evil men.Avoid it, pass not by it, Turn from it, and pass away.
For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin.Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.
Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.
Can a man take fire in his bosom, And his clothes not be burned?Can one go upon hot coals, And his feet not be burned?
Wherein ye greatly rejoice, though now for a season, if need be, ye are in heaviness through manifold temptations:that the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ:
Incline not my heart to any evil thing, To practise wicked works with men that work iniquity: And let me not eat of their dainties.
Let not thine heart decline to her ways, Go not astray in her paths.For she hath cast down many wounded: Yea, many strong men have been slain by her.Her house is the way to hell, Going down to the chambers of death.
And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them.
Mortify therefore your members which are upon the earth; fornication, uncleanness, inordinate affection, evil concupiscence, and covetousness, which is idolatry:for which things' sake the wrath of God cometh on the children of disobedience:
For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh:(for the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;)casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;
Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; And lean not unto thine own understanding.In all thy ways acknowledge him, And he shall direct thy paths.
He restoreth my soul: He leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake.Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; Thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.
Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness;and your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace;above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:
Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us,looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.
But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.
For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.
Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God: for God cannot be tempted with evil, neither tempteth he any man:
And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.
The LORD shall preserve thee from all evil: He shall preserve thy soul.The LORD shall preserve thy going out and thy coming in From this time forth, and even for evermore.
Flee fornication. Every sin that a man doeth is without the body; but he that committeth fornication sinneth against his own body.What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's.
For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith.Who is he that overcometh the world, but he that believeth that Jesus is the Son of God?
And forgive us our sins; for we also forgive every one that is indebted to us. And lead us not into temptation; but deliver us from evil.
And not only so, but we glory in tribulations also: knowing that tribulation worketh patience;and patience, experience; and experience, hope:and hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us.
Wherefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and hope to the end for the grace that is to be brought unto you at the revelation of Jesus Christ;
If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.
He giveth power to the faint; and to them that have no might he increaseth strength.Even the youths shall faint and be weary, and the young men shall utterly fall:but they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.
Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you:for every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.
And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in necessities, in persecutions, in distresses for Christ's sake: for when I am weak, then am I strong.
For ye were sometimes darkness, but now are ye light in the Lord: walk as children of light:(for the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness and righteousness and truth;)proving what is acceptable unto the Lord.
For this is the will of God, even your sanctification, that ye should abstain from fornication:that every one of you should know how to possess his vessel in sanctification and honour;not in the lust of concupiscence, even as the Gentiles which know not God:
But thou, O man of God, flee these things; and follow after righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, meekness.
For that which I do I allow not: for what I would, that do I not; but what I hate, that do I.If then I do that which I would not, I consent unto the law that it is good.Now then it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in me.For I know that in me (that is, in my flesh,) dwelleth no good thing: for to will is present with me; but how to perform that which is good I find not.For the good that I would I do not: but the evil which I would not, that I do.Now if I do that I would not, it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in me.I find then a law, that, when I would do good, evil is present with me.For I delight in the law of God after the inward man:but I see another law in my members, warring against the law of my mind, and bringing me into captivity to the law of sin which is in my members.O wretched man that I am! who shall deliver me from the body of this death?I thank God through Jesus Christ our Lord. So then with the mind I myself serve the law of God; but with the flesh the law of sin.
Dearly beloved, I beseech you as strangers and pilgrims, abstain from fleshly lusts, which war against the soul;
Then saith Jesus unto him, Get thee hence, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve.
The LORD is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer; My God, my strength, in whom I will trust; My buckler, and the horn of my salvation, and my high tower.I will call upon the LORD, who is worthy to be praised: So shall I be saved from mine enemies.
Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for he is faithful that promised;)
He that walketh with wise men shall be wise: But a companion of fools shall be destroyed.
My brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into divers temptations;knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience.
and be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ's sake hath forgiven you.
Let love be without dissimulation. Abhor that which is evil; cleave to that which is good.Be kindly affectioned one to another with brotherly love; in honour preferring one another;
Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.
O keep my soul, and deliver me: Let me not be ashamed; for I put my trust in thee.Let integrity and uprightness preserve me; For I wait on thee.
The night is far spent, the day is at hand: let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armour of light.
No man that warreth entangleth himself with the affairs of this life; that he may please him who hath chosen him to be a soldier.
These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.
If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.So that we may boldly say, The Lord is my helper, and I will not fear What man shall do unto me.
And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.
Wherewithal shall a young man cleanse his way? By taking heed thereto according to thy word.
I therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you that ye walk worthy of the vocation wherewith ye are called,with all lowliness and meekness, with longsuffering, forbearing one another in love;
Brethren, if a man be overtaken in a fault, ye which are spiritual, restore such an one in the spirit of meekness; considering thyself, lest thou also be tempted.
that by two immutable things, in which it was impossible for God to lie, we might have a strong consolation, who have fled for refuge to lay hold upon the hope set before us:which hope we have as an anchor of the soul, both sure and stedfast, and which entereth into that within the veil;
but as he which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation;because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy.
Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness?
Who forgiveth all thine iniquities; Who healeth all thy diseases;Who redeemeth thy life from destruction; Who crowneth thee with lovingkindness and tender mercies;
Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee.Trust ye in the LORD for ever: for in the LORD JEHOVAH is everlasting strength:
Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before,I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.
Let us not therefore judge one another any more: but judge this rather, that no man put a stumblingblock or an occasion to fall in his brother's way.
But the God of all grace, who hath called us unto his eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after that ye have suffered a while, make you perfect, stablish, strengthen, settle you.
who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son:in whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins:
I waited patiently for the LORD; And he inclined unto me, and heard my cry.He brought me up also out of an horrible pit, out of the miry clay, And set my feet upon a rock, and established my goings.And he hath put a new song in my mouth, even praise unto our God: Many shall see it, and fear, And shall trust in the LORD.
For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:not of works, lest any man should boast.
who delivered us from so great a death, and doth deliver: in whom we trust that he will yet deliver us;
to the end he may stablish your hearts unblameable in holiness before God, even our Father, at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ with all his saints.
but I keep under my body, and bring it into subjection: lest that by any means, when I have preached to others, I myself should be a castaway.
I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.
The righteous cry, and the LORD heareth, And delivereth them out of all their troubles.The LORD is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart; And saveth such as be of a contrite spirit.Many are the afflictions of the righteous: But the LORD delivereth him out of them all.
Beloved, think it not strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened unto you:but rejoice, inasmuch as ye are partakers of Christ's sufferings; that, when his glory shall be revealed, ye may be glad also with exceeding joy.
He that walketh uprightly walketh surely: But he that perverteth his ways shall be known.
Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight, O LORD, my strength, and my redeemer.
Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him.
Now our Lord Jesus Christ himself, and God, even our Father, which hath loved us, and hath given us everlasting consolation and good hope through grace,comfort your hearts, and stablish you in every good word and work.
No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.
He that dwelleth in the secret place of the Most High Shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.I will say of the LORD, He is my refuge and my fortress: My God; in him will I trust.
who are kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.
He that covereth his sins shall not prosper: But whoso confesseth and forsaketh them shall have mercy.
All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:that the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.
who shall also confirm you unto the end, that ye may be blameless in the day of our Lord Jesus Christ.God is faithful, by whom ye were called unto the fellowship of his Son Jesus Christ our Lord.
See then that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise,redeeming the time, because the days are evil.
and whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men;knowing that of the Lord ye shall receive the reward of the inheritance: for ye serve the Lord Christ.
For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.
For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live.
We know that whosoever is born of God sinneth not; but he that is begotten of God keepeth himself, and that wicked one toucheth him not.
What time I am afraid, I will trust in thee.In God I will praise his word, In God I have put my trust; I will not fear what flesh can do unto me.
being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ:
The integrity of the upright shall guide them: But the perverseness of transgressors shall destroy them.
Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double minded.
the Lord knoweth how to deliver the godly out of temptations, and to reserve the unjust unto the day of judgment to be punished:
Keep back thy servant also from presumptuous sins; Let them not have dominion over me: Then shall I be upright, and I shall be innocent from the great transgression.
But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord.
Be ye therefore followers of God, as dear children;and walk in love, as Christ also hath loved us, and hath given himself for us an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweetsmelling savour.
Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat:because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.
But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.
By mercy and truth iniquity is purged: And by the fear of the LORD men depart from evil.
My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous:and he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for our's only, but also for the sins of the whole world.
Shew me thy ways, O LORD; Teach me thy paths.Lead me in thy truth, and teach me: For thou art the God of my salvation; on thee do I wait all the day.
Now the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that ye may abound in hope, through the power of the Holy Ghost.
