109 Bible verses about raising slander

109 Bible verses about raising slander

Think about how often you hear gossip or feel tempted to spread it. Ephesians 4:29 encourages us to "let no corrupting talk come out of your mouths, but only such as is good for building up, as fits the occasion, that it may give grace to those who hear." It really makes you think about the power of your words, doesn't it?

What God wants for us, I believe, is to use our words to build others up, not tear them down. When we speak negatively about someone, it not only hurts them, but it also reflects poorly on us. Our words reveal our character and values, you know? It's like that saying, "What comes out of the mouth proceeds from the heart."

Leviticus 19:16 also hits home: "You shall not go around as a slanderer among your people, and you shall not stand up against the life of your neighbor: I am the Lord." This reminds us of the importance of truth and justice. We're called to protect our neighbors, not endanger them with harmful words.

So, I hope this little reflection encourages you, as it does me, to be mindful of our words. Instead of tearing others down, let's focus on speaking truth, promoting justice, and building each other up. If we follow these biblical principles, we can create a society where gossip has no place, and honesty and respect flourish.

James 4:11

Speak not evil one of another, brethren. He that speaketh evil of his brother, and judgeth his brother, speaketh evil of the law, and judgeth the law: but if thou judge the law, thou art not a doer of the law, but a judge.

Prayer

Lord, you are good and righteous. All your ways are true and perfect. There's no darkness in you. You are kind and noble. I've seen your glory in my life. More than once you've taught me to be still and experience your protection. You haven't left me in the hands of my enemies but have silenced them so I wouldn't be shamed. So today, I give you thanks and all the glory, because your strong hand has held me up. I'm standing here because of your righteousness, your endless love and truth. Every day I want to stay so close to you that Christ's character shines through me. I want to walk in righteousness, keeping your word always, not worrying about what folks might do or say to me. I will trust in you, because once again you will deliver me. I wait for you, because your rod and your staff, they comfort me. Thank you, Lord, for everything, for the things I don't understand, and even for the bad things that have happened to me. Today I ask you to forgive those who have risen up against me and spoken falsely about me. I declare them free, in Jesus' name. I also ask you to guard my mouth from deceit and keep my tongue from speaking lies. May my intentions always be pure. In Jesus' name, Amen.
