149 Verses to ask for Wisdom in important decisions

If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him.

Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding.In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.

For the LORD gives wisdom; from his mouth come knowledge and understanding;

The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge; fools despise wisdom and instruction.

I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you with my eye upon you.

The heart of man plans his way, but the LORD establishes his steps.

Listen to advice and accept instruction, that you may gain wisdom in the future.Many are the plans in the mind of a man, but it is the purpose of the LORD that will stand.

Blessed is the one who finds wisdom, and the one who gets understanding,

The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom; all those who practice it have a good understanding. His praise endures forever!

The beginning of wisdom is this: Get wisdom, and whatever you get, get insight.

The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom, and the knowledge of the Holy One is insight.

For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, declares the LORD.For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.

For I know the plans I have for you, declares the LORD, plans for wholeness and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.

Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.

The way of a fool is right in his own eyes, but a wise man listens to advice.

Look carefully then how you walk, not as unwise but as wise,making the best use of the time, because the days are evil.Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the will of the Lord is.

Conduct yourselves wisely[2] toward outsiders, making the best use of the time.

Without counsel plans fail, but with many advisers they succeed.

Yet among the mature we do impart wisdom, although it is not a wisdom of this age or of the rulers of this age, who are doomed to pass away.But we impart a secret and hidden wisdom of God, which God decreed before the ages for our glory.

Make me to know your ways, O LORD; teach me your paths.Lead me in your truth and teach me, for you are the God of my salvation; for you I wait all the day long.

Do not be conformed to this world,[3] but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.[4]

Commit your way to the LORD; trust in him, and he will act.

The plans of the diligent lead surely to abundance, but everyone who is hasty comes only to poverty.

"Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you.

The wise of heart will receive commandments, but a babbling fool will come to ruin.

Teach me good judgment and knowledge, for I believe in your commandments.

Whoever is slow to anger has great understanding, but he who has a hasty temper exalts folly.

Whoever gets sense loves his own soul; he who keeps understanding will discover good.

for wisdom is better than jewels, and all that you may desire cannot compare with her.

Give your servant therefore an understanding mind to govern your people, that I may discern between good and evil, for who is able to govern this your great people?"

And so, from the day we heard, we have not ceased to pray for you, asking that you may be filled with the knowledge of his will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding,so as to walk in a manner worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing to him, bearing fruit in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God.

Where there is no guidance, a people falls, but in an abundance of counselors there is safety.

So teach us to number our days that we may get a heart of wisdom.

"With God[3] are wisdom and might; he has counsel and understanding.

Daniel answered and said: "Blessed be the name of God forever and ever, to whom belong wisdom and might.He changes times and seasons; he removes kings and sets up kings; he gives wisdom to the wise and knowledge to those who have understanding;

By wisdom a house is built, and by understanding it is established;by knowledge the rooms are filled with all precious and pleasant riches.

for I will give you a mouth and wisdom, which none of your adversaries will be able to withstand or contradict.

By insolence comes nothing but strife, but with those who take advice is wisdom.

Apply your heart to instruction and your ear to words of knowledge.

Oh how I love your law! It is my meditation all the day.Your commandment makes me wiser than my enemies, for it is ever with me.

He frustrates the devices of the crafty, so that their hands achieve no success.He catches the wise in their own craftiness, and the schemes of the wily are brought to a quick end.

The fear of the LORD is instruction in wisdom, and humility comes before honor.

that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give you a spirit of wisdom and of revelation in the knowledge of him,having the eyes of your hearts enlightened, that you may know what is the hope to which he has called you, what are the riches of his glorious inheritance in the saints,

Let the wise hear and increase in learning, and the one who understands obtain guidance,

But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.

Be not wise in your own eyes; fear the LORD, and turn away from evil.

This also comes from the LORD of hosts; he is wonderful in counsel and excellent in wisdom.

How much better to get wisdom than gold! To get understanding is to be chosen rather than silver.

Doing wrong is like a joke to a fool, but wisdom is pleasure to a man of understanding.

An intelligent heart acquires knowledge, and the ear of the wise seeks knowledge.

Blessed is the man[1] who walks not in the counsel of the wicked, nor stands in the way of sinners, nor sits in the seat of scoffers;but his delight is in the law[2] of the LORD, and on his law he meditates day and night.

Evil men do not understand justice, but those who seek the LORD understand it completely.

For by me your days will be multiplied, and years will be added to your life.

But the wisdom from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, open to reason, full of mercy and good fruits, impartial and sincere.

A fool takes no pleasure in understanding, but only in expressing his opinion.

these things God has revealed to us through the Spirit. For the Spirit searches everything, even the depths of God.

My son, do not lose sight of these -- keep sound wisdom and discretion,

And God gave Solomon wisdom and understanding beyond measure, and breadth of mind like the sand on the seashore,

Give me understanding, that I may keep your law and observe it with my whole heart.

To know wisdom and instruction, to understand words of insight,to receive instruction in wise dealing, in righteousness, justice, and equity;to give prudence to the simple, knowledge and discretion to the youth --

The prudent sees danger and hides himself, but the simple go on and suffer for it.

Buy truth, and do not sell it; buy wisdom, instruction, and understanding.

The fear of the LORD leads to life, and whoever has it rests satisfied; he will not be visited by harm.

Know that wisdom is such to your soul; if you find it, there will be a future, and your hope will not be cut off.

Now we have received not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, that we might understand the things freely given us by God.

And take not the word of truth utterly out of my mouth, for my hope is in your rules.I will keep your law continually, forever and ever,

The simple believes everything, but the prudent gives thought to his steps.

When you walk, your step will not be hampered, and if you run, you will not stumble.

Hear instruction and be wise, and do not neglect it.

Keep hold of instruction; do not let go; guard her, for she is your life.

for the LORD knows the way of the righteous, but the way of the wicked will perish.

My son, be attentive to my words; incline your ear to my sayings.Let them not escape from your sight; keep them within your heart.

Great are the works of the LORD, studied by all who delight in them.

I understand more than the aged,[4] for I keep your precepts.

It is good for me that I was afflicted, that I might learn your statutes.The law of your mouth is better to me than thousands of gold and silver pieces. Yodh

Ponder[3] the path of your feet; then all your ways will be sure.

I will give you the treasures of darkness and the hoards in secret places, that you may know that it is I, the LORD, the God of Israel, who call you by your name.

For to the one who pleases him God has given wisdom and knowledge and joy, but to the sinner he has given the business of gathering and collecting, only to give to one who pleases God. This also is vanity and a striving after wind.

Wisdom has built her house; she has hewn her seven pillars.

And we know that the Son of God has come and has given us understanding, so that we may know him who is true; and we are in him who is true, in his Son Jesus Christ. He is the true God and eternal life.

Thorns and snares are in the way of the crooked; whoever guards his soul will keep far from them.

My son, if you receive my words and treasure up my commandments with you,

The father of the righteous will greatly rejoice; he who fathers a wise son will be glad in him.
