PROPHETIC VERSES
God's Word tells us about what's to come. Think about it, so much of what will happen is already there in the Bible. It's amazing! The verse that really hits home for me is 2 Peter 1:21: "For prophecy never had its origin in the human will, but men spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit." That's powerful stuff.
Prophecy, it's like the key to opening and closing heaven according to God's plan. When we look back and see how prophecies have unfolded throughout history, it helps us understand what might be coming next. And when we understand, we can share that, right? We can warn those who might be straying from the path, encourage them to turn back to God, and find that everlasting life.
And for those of you already walking with Christ, eagerly waiting for His return, hang in there! Keep the faith. Keep persevering. Salvation is just around the corner.
Wail, for the Lord’s day of judgment is near; it comes with all the destructive power of the sovereign judge.
Then he said, “I am going to inform you about what will happen in the latter time of wrath, for the vision pertains to the appointed time of the end.
The sunlight will be turned to darkness and the moon to the color of blood, before the day of the Lord comes – that great and terrible day!
For the culmination of all things is near. So be self-controlled and sober-minded for the sake of prayer.
But, according to his promise, we are waiting for new heavens and a new earth, in which righteousness truly resides.
And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached throughout the whole inhabited earth as a testimony to all the nations, and then the end will come.
But the day of the Lord will come like a thief; when it comes, the heavens will disappear with a horrific noise, and the celestial bodies will melt away in a blaze, and the earth and every deed done on it will be laid bare.
It will be this way at the end of the age. Angels will come and separate the evil from the righteous
Look, the Lord is ready to devastate the earth and leave it in ruins; he will mar its surface and scatter its inhabitants.The ruined town is shattered; all of the houses are shut up tight.They howl in the streets because of what happened to the wine; all joy turns to sorrow; celebrations disappear from the earth.The city is left in ruins; the gate is reduced to rubble.This is what will happen throughout the earth, among the nations. It will be like when they beat an olive tree, and just a few olives are left at the end of the harvest.They lift their voices and shout joyfully; they praise the majesty of the Lord in the west.So in the east extol the Lord, along the seacoasts extol the fame of the Lord God of Israel.From the ends of the earth we hear songs – the Just One is majestic. But I say, “I’m wasting away! I’m wasting away! I’m doomed! Deceivers deceive, deceivers thoroughly deceive!”Terror, pit, and snare are ready to overtake you inhabitants of the earth!The one who runs away from the sound of the terror will fall into the pit; the one who climbs out of the pit, will be trapped by the snare. For the floodgates of the heavens are opened up and the foundations of the earth shake.The earth is broken in pieces, the earth is ripped to shreds, the earth shakes violently.Everyone will suffer – the priest as well as the people, the master as well as the servant, the elegant lady as well as the female attendant, the seller as well as the buyer, the borrower as well as the lender, the creditor as well as the debtor.The earth will stagger around like a drunk; it will sway back and forth like a hut in a windstorm. Its sin will weigh it down, and it will fall and never get up again.At that time the Lord will punish the heavenly forces in the heavens and the earthly kings on the earth.They will be imprisoned in a pit, locked up in a prison, and after staying there for a long time, they will be punished.The full moon will be covered up, the bright sun will be darkened; for the Lord who commands armies will rule on Mount Zion in Jerusalem in the presence of his assembly, in majestic splendor.The earth will be completely devastated and thoroughly ransacked. For the Lord has decreed this judgment.
All the stars in the sky will fade away, the sky will roll up like a scroll; all its stars will wither, like a leaf withers and falls from a vine or a fig withers and falls from a tree.
As he was sitting on the Mount of Olives, his disciples came to him privately and said, “Tell us, when will these things happen? And what will be the sign of your coming and of the end of the age?”
Blessed is the one who reads the words of this prophecy aloud, and blessed are those who hear and obey the things written in it, because the time is near!
Then comes the end, when he hands over the kingdom to God the Father, when he has brought to an end all rule and all authority and power.
And if the Lord had not cut short those days, no one would be saved. But because of the elect, whom he chose, he has cut them short.
You will hear of wars and rumors of wars. Make sure that you are not alarmed, for this must happen, but the end is still to come.
Look up at the sky! Look at the earth below! For the sky will dissipate like smoke, and the earth will wear out like clothes; its residents will die like gnats. But the deliverance I give is permanent; the vindication I provide will not disappear.
For look, I am ready to create new heavens and a new earth! The former ones will not be remembered; no one will think about them anymore.
“For just as the new heavens and the new earth I am about to make will remain standing before me,” says the Lord, “so your descendants and your name will remain.From one month to the next and from one Sabbath to the next, all people will come to worship me,” says the Lord.“They will go out and observe the corpses of those who rebelled against me, for the maggots that eat them will not die, and the fire that consumes them will not die out. All people will find the sight abhorrent.”
“I looked at the land and saw that it was an empty wasteland. I looked up at the sky, and its light had vanished.I looked at the mountains and saw that they were shaking. All the hills were swaying back and forth!I looked and saw that there were no more people, and that all the birds in the sky had flown away.I looked and saw that the fruitful land had become a desert and that all of the cities had been laid in ruins. The Lord had brought this all about because of his blazing anger.All this will happen because the Lord said, “The whole land will be desolate; however, I will not completely destroy it.Because of this the land will mourn and the sky above will grow black. For I have made my purpose known and I will not relent or turn back from carrying it out.”
“This is what the sovereign Lord says: A disaster – a one-of-a-kind disaster – is coming!An end comes – the end comes! It has awakened against you – the end is upon you! Look, it is coming!Doom is coming upon you who live in the land! The time is coming, the day is near. There are sounds of tumult, not shouts of joy, on the mountains.
For the day is near, the day of the Lord is near; it will be a day of storm clouds, it will be a time of judgment for the nations.
In the days of those kings the God of heaven will raise up an everlasting kingdom that will not be destroyed and a kingdom that will not be left to another people. It will break in pieces and bring about the demise of all these kingdoms. But it will stand forever.
I was watching in the night visions, “And with the clouds of the sky one like a son of man was approaching. He went up to the Ancient of Days and was escorted before him.To him was given ruling authority, honor, and sovereignty. All peoples, nations, and language groups were serving him. His authority is eternal and will not pass away. His kingdom will not be destroyed.
But the court will convene, and his ruling authority will be removed – destroyed and abolished forever!Then the kingdom, authority, and greatness of the kingdoms under all of heaven will be delivered to the people of the holy ones of the Most High. His kingdom is an eternal kingdom; all authorities will serve him and obey him.’
“At that time Michael, the great prince who watches over your people, will arise. There will be a time of distress unlike any other from the nation’s beginning up to that time. But at that time your own people, all those whose names are found written in the book, will escape.Many will be purified, made clean, and refined, but the wicked will go on being wicked. None of the wicked will understand, though the wise will understand.From the time that the daily sacrifice is removed and the abomination that causes desolation is set in place, there are 1,290 days.Blessed is the one who waits and attains to the 1,335 days.But you should go your way until the end. You will rest and then at the end of the days you will arise to receive what you have been allotted.”Many of those who sleep in the dusty ground will awake – some to everlasting life, and others to shame and everlasting abhorrence.But the wise will shine like the brightness of the heavenly expanse. And those bringing many to righteousness will be like the stars forever and ever.
Blow the trumpet in Zion; sound the alarm signal on my holy mountain! Let all the inhabitants of the land shake with fear, for the day of the Lord is about to come. Indeed, it is near!The earth quakes before them; the sky reverberates. The sun and the moon grow dark; the stars refuse to shine.The voice of the Lord thunders as he leads his army. Indeed, his warriors are innumerable; Surely his command is carried out! Yes, the day of the Lord is awesome and very terrifying – who can survive it?“Yet even now,” the Lord says, “return to me with all your heart – with fasting, weeping, and mourning. Tear your hearts, not just your garments!”Return to the Lord your God, for he is merciful and compassionate, slow to anger and boundless in loyal love – often relenting from calamitous punishment.Who knows? Perhaps he will be compassionate and grant a reprieve, and leave blessing in his wake – a meal offering and a drink offering for you to offer to the Lord your God!Blow the trumpet in Zion. Announce a holy fast; proclaim a sacred assembly!Gather the people; sanctify an assembly! Gather the elders; gather the children and the nursing infants. Let the bridegroom come out from his bedroom and the bride from her private quarters.Let the priests, those who serve the Lord, weep from the vestibule all the way back to the altar. Let them say, “Have pity, O Lord, on your people; please do not turn over your inheritance to be mocked, to become a proverb among the nations. Why should it be said among the peoples, “Where is their God?”Then the Lord became zealous for his land; he had compassion on his people.The Lord responded to his people, “Look! I am about to restore your grain as well as fresh wine and olive oil. You will be fully satisfied. I will never again make you an object of mockery among the nations.It will be a day of dreadful darkness, a day of foreboding storm clouds, like blackness spread over the mountains. It is a huge and powerful army – there has never been anything like it ever before, and there will not be anything like it for many generations to come!

I will produce portents both in the sky and on the earth – blood, fire, and columns of smoke.The sunlight will be turned to darkness and the moon to the color of blood, before the day of the Lord comes – that great and terrible day!
Woe to those who wish for the day of the Lord! Why do you want the Lord’s day of judgment to come? It will bring darkness, not light.Disaster will be inescapable, as if a man ran from a lion only to meet a bear, then escaped into a house, leaned his hand against the wall, and was bitten by a poisonous snake.“The virgin Israel has fallen down and will not get up again. She is abandoned on her own land with no one to help her get up.”Don’t you realize the Lord’s day of judgment will bring darkness, not light – gloomy blackness, not bright light?
The Lord’s great day of judgment is almost here; it is approaching very rapidly! There will be a bitter sound on the Lord’s day of judgment; at that time warriors will cry out in battle.That day will be a day of God’s anger, a day of distress and hardship, a day of devastation and ruin, a day of darkness and gloom, a day of clouds and dark skies,a day of trumpet blasts and battle cries. Judgment will fall on the fortified cities and the high corner towers.I will bring distress on the people and they will stumble like blind men, for they have sinned against the Lord. Their blood will be poured out like dirt; their flesh will be scattered like manure.Neither their silver nor their gold will be able to deliver them in the day of the Lord’s angry judgment. The whole earth will be consumed by his fiery wrath. Indeed, he will bring terrifying destruction on all who live on the earth.”
Therefore you must wait patiently for me,” says the Lord, “for the day when I attack and take plunder. I have decided to gather nations together and assemble kingdoms, so I can pour out my fury on them – all my raging anger. For the whole earth will be consumed by my fiery anger.
A day of the Lord is about to come when your possessions will be divided as plunder in your midst.All the land will change and become like the Arabah from Geba to Rimmon, south of Jerusalem; and Jerusalem will be raised up and will stay in its own place from the Benjamin Gate to the site of the First Gate and on to the Corner Gate, and from the Tower of Hananel to the royal winepresses.And people will settle there, and there will no longer be the threat of divine extermination – Jerusalem will dwell in security.But this will be the nature of the plague with which the Lord will strike all the nations that have fought against Jerusalem: Their flesh will decay while they stand on their feet, their eyes will rot away in their sockets, and their tongues will dissolve in their mouths.On that day there will be great confusion from the Lord among them; they will seize each other and attack one another violently.Moreover, Judah will fight at Jerusalem, and the wealth of all the surrounding nations will be gathered up – gold, silver, and clothing in great abundance.This is the kind of plague that will devastate horses, mules, camels, donkeys, and all the other animals in those camps.Then all who survive from all the nations that came to attack Jerusalem will go up annually to worship the King, the Lord who rules over all, and to observe the Feast of Tabernacles.But if any of the nations anywhere on earth refuse to go up to Jerusalem to worship the King, the Lord who rules over all, they will get no rain.If the Egyptians will not do so, they will get no rain – instead there will be the kind of plague which the Lord inflicts on any nations that do not go up to celebrate the Feast of Tabernacles.This will be the punishment of Egypt and of all nations that do not go up to celebrate the Feast of Tabernacles.For I will gather all the nations against Jerusalem to wage war; the city will be taken, its houses plundered, and the women raped. Then half of the city will go into exile, but the remainder of the people will not be taken away.
(3:19) “For indeed the day is coming, burning like a furnace, and all the arrogant evildoers will be chaff. The coming day will burn them up,” says the Lord who rules over all. “It will not leave even a root or branch.
Look, I will send you Elijah the prophet before the great and terrible day of the Lord arrives.He will encourage fathers and their children to return to me, so that I will not come and strike the earth with judgment.”
As the weeds are collected and burned with fire, so it will be at the end of the age.The Son of Man will send his angels, and they will gather from his kingdom everything that causes sin as well as all lawbreakers.They will throw them into the fiery furnace, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.Then the righteous will shine like the sun in the kingdom of their Father. The one who has ears had better listen!

And there will be famines and earthquakes in various places.All these things are the beginning of birth pains.
For then there will be great suffering unlike anything that has happened from the beginning of the world until now, or ever will happen.And if those days had not been cut short, no one would be saved. But for the sake of the elect those days will be cut short.
“Immediately after the suffering of those days, the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light; the stars will fall from heaven, and the powers of heaven will be shaken.As he was sitting on the Mount of Olives, his disciples came to him privately and said, “Tell us, when will these things happen? And what will be the sign of your coming and of the end of the age?”Then the sign of the Son of Man will appear in heaven, and all the tribes of the earth will mourn. They will see the Son of Man arriving on the clouds of heaven with power and great glory.And he will send his angels with a loud trumpet blast, and they will gather his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other.
Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away.“But as for that day and hour no one knows it – not even the angels in heaven – except the Father alone.
Therefore you also must be ready, because the Son of Man will come at an hour when you do not expect him.
“When the Son of Man comes in his glory and all the angels with him, then he will sit on his glorious throne.All the nations will be assembled before him, and he will separate people one from another like a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats.
teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And remember, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”

“But as for that day or hour no one knows it – neither the angels in heaven, nor the Son – except the Father.Watch out! Stay alert! For you do not know when the time will come.
Just as it was in the days of Noah, so too it will be in the days of the Son of Man.People were eating, they were drinking, they were marrying, they were being given in marriage – right up to the day Noah entered the ark. Then the flood came and destroyed them all.Likewise, just as it was in the days of Lot, people were eating, drinking, buying, selling, planting, building;but on the day Lot went out from Sodom, fire and sulfur rained down from heaven and destroyed them all.Watch yourselves! If your brother sins, rebuke him. If he repents, forgive him.It will be the same on the day the Son of Man is revealed.
“And there will be signs in the sun and moon and stars, and on the earth nations will be in distress, anxious over the roaring of the sea and the surging waves.People will be fainting from fear and from the expectation of what is coming on the world, for the powers of the heavens will be shaken.Then they will see the Son of Man arriving in a cloud with power and great glory.
Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away.“But be on your guard so that your hearts are not weighed down with dissipation and drunkenness and the worries of this life, and that day close down upon you suddenly like a trap.For it will overtake all who live on the face of the whole earth.But stay alert at all times, praying that you may have strength to escape all these things that must happen, and to stand before the Son of Man.”
“Do not be amazed at this, because a time is coming when all who are in the tombs will hear his voiceand will come out – the ones who have done what is good to the resurrection resulting in life, and the ones who have done what is evil to the resurrection resulting in condemnation.
Now this is the will of the one who sent me – that I should not lose one person of every one he has given me, but raise them all up at the last day.(Now the Jewish feast of the Passover was near.)For this is the will of my Father – for everyone who looks on the Son and believes in him to have eternal life, and I will raise him up at the last day.”
The one who rejects me and does not accept my words has a judge; the word I have spoken will judge him at the last day.
and said, “Men of Galilee, why do you stand here looking up into the sky? This same Jesus who has been taken up from you into heaven will come back in the same way you saw him go into heaven.”
And I will perform wonders in the sky above and miraculous signs on the earth below, blood and fire and clouds of smoke.Suddenly a sound like a violent wind blowing came from heaven and filled the entire house where they were sitting.The sun will be changed to darkness and the moon to blood before the great and glorious day of the Lord comes.
Therefore repent and turn back so that your sins may be wiped out,And a man lame from birth was being carried up, who was placed at the temple gate called “the Beautiful Gate” every day so he could beg for money from those going into the temple courts.so that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord, and so that he may send the Messiah appointed for you – that is, Jesus.This one heaven must receive until the time all things are restored, which God declared from times long ago through his holy prophets.
Therefore, although God has overlooked such times of ignorance, he now commands all people everywhere to repent,because he has set a day on which he is going to judge the world in righteousness, by a man whom he designated, having provided proof to everyone by raising him from the dead.”
But because of your stubbornness and your unrepentant heart, you are storing up wrath for yourselves in the day of wrath, when God’s righteous judgment is revealed!
For I consider that our present sufferings cannot even be compared to the glory that will be revealed to us.For the creation eagerly waits for the revelation of the sons of God.
that the creation itself will also be set free from the bondage of decay into the glorious freedom of God’s children.For we know that the whole creation groans and suffers together until now.Not only this, but we ourselves also, who have the firstfruits of the Spirit, groan inwardly as we eagerly await our adoption, the redemption of our bodies.
And I say this, brothers and sisters: The time is short. So then those who have wives should be as those who have none,A husband should give to his wife her sexual rights, and likewise a wife to her husband.those with tears like those not weeping, those who rejoice like those not rejoicing, those who buy like those without possessions,those who use the world as though they were not using it to the full. For the present shape of this world is passing away.
For just as in Adam all die, so also in Christ all will be made alive.But each in his own order: Christ, the firstfruits; then when Christ comes, those who belong to him.Then comes the end, when he hands over the kingdom to God the Father, when he has brought to an end all rule and all authority and power.
Listen, I will tell you a mystery: We will not all sleep, but we will all be changed –in a moment, in the blinking of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised imperishable, and we will be changed.
For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, so that each one may be paid back according to what he has done while in the body, whether good or evil.
For I am sure of this very thing, that the one who began a good work in you will perfect it until the day of Christ Jesus.
But our citizenship is in heaven – and we also await a savior from there, the Lord Jesus Christ,who will transform these humble bodies of ours into the likeness of his glorious body by means of that power by which he is able to subject all things to himself.
When Christ (who is your life) appears, then you too will be revealed in glory with him.
For we tell you this by the word of the Lord, that we who are alive, who are left until the coming of the Lord, will surely not go ahead of those who have fallen asleep.For the Lord himself will come down from heaven with a shout of command, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trumpet of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first.Then we who are alive, who are left, will be suddenly caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And so we will always be with the Lord.
Now on the topic of times and seasons, brothers and sisters, you have no need for anything to be written to you.He died for us so that whether we are alert or asleep we will come to life together with him.Therefore encourage one another and build up each other, just as you are in fact doing.Now we ask you, brothers and sisters, to acknowledge those who labor among you and preside over you in the Lord and admonish you,and to esteem them most highly in love because of their work. Be at peace among yourselves.And we urge you, brothers and sisters, admonish the undisciplined, comfort the discouraged, help the weak, be patient toward all.See that no one pays back evil for evil to anyone, but always pursue what is good for one another and for all.Always rejoice,constantly pray,in everything give thanks. For this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.Do not extinguish the Spirit.For you know quite well that the day of the Lord will come in the same way as a thief in the night.Do not treat prophecies with contempt.But examine all things; hold fast to what is good.Stay away from every form of evil.Now may the God of peace himself make you completely holy and may your spirit and soul and body be kept entirely blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.He who calls you is trustworthy, and he will in fact do this.Brothers and sisters, pray for us too.Greet all the brothers and sisters with a holy kiss.I call on you solemnly in the Lord to have this letter read to all the brothers and sisters.The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you.Now when they are saying, “There is peace and security,” then sudden destruction comes on them, like labor pains on a pregnant woman, and they will surely not escape.
For God did not destine us for wrath but for gaining salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ.
Now regarding the arrival of our Lord Jesus Christ and our being gathered to be with him, we ask you, brothers and sisters,and with every kind of evil deception directed against those who are perishing, because they found no place in their hearts for the truth so as to be saved.Consequently God sends on them a deluding influence so that they will believe what is false.And so all of them who have not believed the truth but have delighted in evil will be condemned.But we ought to thank God always for you, brothers and sisters loved by the Lord, because God chose you from the beginning for salvation through sanctification by the Spirit and faith in the truth.He called you to this salvation through our gospel, so that you may possess the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ.Therefore, brothers and sisters, stand firm and hold on to the traditions that we taught you, whether by speech or by letter.Now may our Lord Jesus Christ himself and God our Father, who loved us and by grace gave us eternal comfort and good hope,encourage your hearts and strengthen you in every good thing you do or say.not to be easily shaken from your composure or disturbed by any kind of spirit or message or letter allegedly from us, to the effect that the day of the Lord is already here.Let no one deceive you in any way. For that day will not arrive until the rebellion comes and the man of lawlessness is revealed, the son of destruction.He opposes and exalts himself above every so-called god or object of worship, and as a result he takes his seat in God’s temple, displaying himself as God.
and then the lawless one will be revealed, whom the Lord will destroy by the breath of his mouth and wipe out by the manifestation of his arrival.
to obey this command without fault or failure until the appearing of our Lord Jesus Christ– whose appearing the blessed and only Sovereign, the King of kings and Lord of lords, will reveal at the right time.
I solemnly charge you before God and Christ Jesus, who is going to judge the living and the dead, and by his appearing and his kingdom:
as we wait for the happy fulfillment of our hope in the glorious appearing of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ.
And, “You founded the earth in the beginning, Lord, and the heavens are the works of your hands.They will perish, but you continue. And they will all grow old like a garment,and like a robe you will fold them up and like a garment they will be changed, but you are the same and your years will never run out.”
for then he would have had to suffer again and again since the foundation of the world. But now he has appeared once for all at the consummation of the ages to put away sin by his sacrifice.And just as people are appointed to die once, and then to face judgment,so also, after Christ was offered once to bear the sins of many, to those who eagerly await him he will appear a second time, not to bear sin but to bring salvation.
Then his voice shook the earth, but now he has promised, “I will once more shake not only the earth but heaven too.”Now this phrase “once more” indicates the removal of what is shaken, that is, of created things, so that what is unshaken may remain.
So be patient, brothers and sisters, until the Lord’s return. Think of how the farmer waits for the precious fruit of the ground and is patient for it until it receives the early and late rains.You also be patient and strengthen your hearts, for the Lord’s return is near.
Do not grumble against one another, brothers and sisters, so that you may not be judged. See, the judge stands before the gates!
who by God’s power are protected through faith for a salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.
For it is time for judgment to begin, starting with the house of God. And if it starts with us, what will be the fate of those who are disobedient to the gospel of God?
Above all, understand this: In the last days blatant scoffers will come, being propelled by their own evil urgesand saying, “Where is his promised return? For ever since our ancestors died, all things have continued as they were from the beginning of creation.”
But by the same word the present heavens and earth have been reserved for fire, by being kept for the day of judgment and destruction of the ungodly.
while waiting for and hastening the coming of the day of God? Because of this day, the heavens will be burned up and dissolve, and the celestial bodies will melt away in a blaze!But, according to his promise, we are waiting for new heavens and a new earth, in which righteousness truly resides.
And the world is passing away with all its desires, but the person who does the will of God remains forever.
And now, little children, remain in him, so that when he appears we may have confidence and not shrink away from him in shame when he comes back.
Now Enoch, the seventh in descent beginning with Adam, even prophesied of them, saying, “Look! The Lord is coming with thousands and thousands of his holy ones,to execute judgment on all, and to convict every person of all their thoroughly ungodly deeds that they have committed, and of all the harsh words that ungodly sinners have spoken against him.”
(Look! He is returning with the clouds, and every eye will see him, even those who pierced him, and all the tribes on the earth will mourn because of him. This will certainly come to pass! Amen.)
Because you have kept my admonition to endure steadfastly, I will also keep you from the hour of testing that is about to come on the whole world to test those who live on the earth.
Then I looked when the Lamb opened the sixth seal, and a huge earthquake took place; the sun became as black as sackcloth made of hair, and the full moon became blood red;and the stars in the sky fell to the earth like a fig tree dropping its unripe figs when shaken by a fierce wind.The sky was split apart like a scroll being rolled up, and every mountain and island was moved from its place.
Then the seventh angel blew his trumpet, and there were loud voices in heaven saying: “The kingdom of the world has become the kingdom of our Lord and of his Christ, and he will reign for ever and ever.”
Then I looked, and a white cloud appeared, and seated on the cloud was one like a son of man! He had a golden crown on his head and a sharp sickle in his hand.Then another angel came out of the temple, shouting in a loud voice to the one seated on the cloud, “Use your sickle and start to reap, because the time to reap has come, since the earth’s harvest is ripe!”So the one seated on the cloud swung his sickle over the earth, and the earth was reaped.
(Look! I will come like a thief! Blessed is the one who stays alert and does not lose his clothes so that he will not have to walk around naked and his shameful condition be seen.)
Then I saw heaven opened and here came a white horse! The one riding it was called “Faithful” and “True,” and with justice he judges and goes to war.His eyes are like a fiery flame and there are many diadem crowns on his head. He has a name written that no one knows except himself.He is dressed in clothing dipped in blood, and he is called the Word of God.The armies that are in heaven, dressed in white, clean, fine linen, were following him on white horses.From his mouth extends a sharp sword, so that with it he can strike the nations. He will rule them with an iron rod, and he stomps the winepress of the furious wrath of God, the All-Powerful.He has a name written on his clothing and on his thigh: “King of kings and Lord of lords.”
Then I saw the beast and the kings of the earth and their armies assembled to do battle with the one who rode the horse and with his army.because his judgments are true and just. For he has judged the great prostitute who corrupted the earth with her sexual immorality, and has avenged the blood of his servants poured out by her own hands!”Now the beast was seized, and along with him the false prophet who had performed the signs on his behalf – signs by which he deceived those who had received the mark of the beast and those who worshiped his image. Both of them were thrown alive into the lake of fire burning with sulfur.The others were killed by the sword that extended from the mouth of the one who rode the horse, and all the birds gorged themselves with their flesh.
Then I saw a large white throne and the one who was seated on it; the earth and the heaven fled from his presence, and no place was found for them.And I saw the dead, the great and the small, standing before the throne. Then books were opened, and another book was opened – the book of life. So the dead were judged by what was written in the books, according to their deeds.The sea gave up the dead that were in it, and Death and Hades gave up the dead that were in them, and each one was judged according to his deeds.Then Death and Hades were thrown into the lake of fire. This is the second death – the lake of fire.If anyone’s name was not found written in the book of life, that person was thrown into the lake of fire.
Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and earth had ceased to exist, and the sea existed no more.
He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death will not exist any more – or mourning, or crying, or pain, for the former things have ceased to exist.”
