Think about what you need and ask God for it. Like any good parent, He knows what His children need. Prayer should absolutely include asking for things, because when you ask God for something, you're acknowledging your own limitations. Whatever your situation, bring your needs to the Lord – whether it's provision, protection, healing, or guidance – and just ask for His help.
Psalm 139:41 says, "Before a word is on my tongue you, Lord, know it completely." Prayer unlocks the treasures of God's Kingdom. It's a key the Creator has placed right in your hand, and He wants you to use it.
It would be so easy for Him to just give you everything you need; everything belongs to Him, and the whole universe is under His command. He could easily provide for you without you ever having to ask. But that's not how He designed it. God loves you, and His greatest desire is to have a close relationship with you. Prayer is the channel through which His provision flows into your life.
LORD, in the morning you will hear my voice. In the morning I will lay my requests before you, and will watch expectantly.
God, you are my God. I will earnestly seek you. My soul thirsts for you. My flesh longs for you, in a dry and weary land, where there is no water.
My soul longs for the Lord more than watchmen long for the morning, more than watchmen for the morning.
With my soul I have desired you in the night. Yes, with my spirit within me I will seek you earnestly; for when your judgements are in the earth, the inhabitants of the world learn righteousness.
Answer me when I call, God of my righteousness. Give me relief from my distress. Have mercy on me, and hear my prayer.
Satisfy us in the morning with your loving kindness, that we may rejoice and be glad all our days.
But you, when you pray, enter into your inner room, and having shut your door, pray to your Father who is in secret; and your Father who sees in secret will reward you openly.
As the deer pants for the water brooks, so my soul pants after you, God. As with a sword in my bones, my adversaries reproach me, while they continually ask me, “Where is your God?” Why are you in despair, my soul? Why are you disturbed within me? Hope in God! For I shall still praise him, the saving help of my countenance, and my God. My soul thirsts for God, for the living God. When shall I come and appear before God?
It is because of the LORD’s loving kindnesses that we are not consumed, because his mercies don’t fail. They are new every morning. Great is your faithfulness.
Let’s therefore draw near with boldness to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and may find grace for help in time of need.
Guide me in your truth, and teach me, for you are the God of my salvation. I wait for you all day long.
I have called with my whole heart. Answer me, LORD! I will keep your statutes. I have called to you. Save me! I will obey your statutes.
You put away all the wicked of the earth like dross. Therefore I love your testimonies.
In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus.
He will call on me, and I will answer him. I will be with him in trouble. I will deliver him, and honour him.
Rest in the LORD, and wait patiently for him. Don’t fret because of him who prospers in his way, because of the man who makes wicked plots happen.
My soul shall be satisfied as with the richest food. My mouth shall praise you with joyful lips, when I remember you on my bed, and think about you in the night watches.
The Lord GOD has given me the tongue of those who are taught, that I may know how to sustain with words him who is weary. He awakens morning by morning, he awakens my ear to hear as those who are taught.
In peace I will both lay myself down and sleep, for you alone, LORD, make me live in safety.
Praise the LORD! Blessed is the man who fears the LORD, who delights greatly in his commandments.
For you, Lord, are good, and ready to forgive, abundant in loving kindness to all those who call on you.
But I trust in you, LORD. I said, “You are my God.” My times are in your hand. Deliver me from the hand of my enemies, and from those who persecute me.
Then you will call, and the LORD will answer. You will cry for help, and he will say, ‘Here I am.’ “If you take away from amongst you the yoke, finger pointing, and speaking wickedly;
“Ask, and it will be given you. Seek, and you will find. Knock, and it will be opened for you.
The sacrifice made by the wicked is an abomination to the LORD, but the prayer of the upright is his delight.
But it is good for me to come close to God. I have made the Lord GOD my refuge, that I may tell of all your works.
Don’t you be afraid, for I am with you. Don’t be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you. Yes, I will help you. Yes, I will uphold you with the right hand of my righteousness.
I have taken your testimonies as a heritage forever, for they are the joy of my heart.
Those who know your name will put their trust in you, for you, LORD, have not forsaken those who seek you.
LORD, you have searched me, and you know me. even there your hand will lead me, and your right hand will hold me. If I say, “Surely the darkness will overwhelm me. The light around me will be night,” even the darkness doesn’t hide from you, but the night shines as the day. The darkness is like light to you. For you formed my inmost being. You knit me together in my mother’s womb. I will give thanks to you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Your works are wonderful. My soul knows that very well. My frame wasn’t hidden from you, when I was made in secret, woven together in the depths of the earth. Your eyes saw my body. In your book they were all written, the days that were ordained for me, when as yet there were none of them. How precious to me are your thoughts, God! How vast is their sum! If I would count them, they are more in number than the sand. When I wake up, I am still with you. If only you, God, would kill the wicked. Get away from me, you bloodthirsty men! You know my sitting down and my rising up. You perceive my thoughts from afar.
Finally, brothers, whatever things are true, whatever things are honourable, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report: if there is any virtue and if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things.
I wait for the LORD. My soul waits. I hope in his word. My soul longs for the Lord more than watchmen long for the morning, more than watchmen for the morning.
When I am afraid, I will put my trust in you. In God, I praise his word. In God, I put my trust. I will not be afraid. What can flesh do to me?
The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom. All those who do his work have a good understanding. His praise endures forever!
You will keep whoever’s mind is steadfast in perfect peace, because he trusts in you. Trust in the LORD forever; for in the LORD, the LORD, is an everlasting Rock.
when I remember you on my bed, and think about you in the night watches. For you have been my help. I will rejoice in the shadow of your wings.
For you will bless the righteous. LORD, you will surround him with favour as with a shield.
GOD will command his loving kindness in the daytime. In the night his song shall be with me: a prayer to the God of my life.
My soul longs, and even faints for the courts of the LORD. My heart and my flesh cry out for the living God.
The law of your mouth is better to me than thousands of pieces of gold and silver. YODH
but those who wait for the LORD will renew their strength. They will mount up with wings like eagles. They will run, and not be weary. They will walk, and not faint.
Search me, God, and know my heart. Try me, and know my thoughts. See if there is any wicked way in me, and lead me in the everlasting way.
In the same way, the Spirit also helps our weaknesses, for we don’t know how to pray as we ought. But the Spirit himself makes intercession for us with groanings which can’t be uttered.
Give ear to my words, LORD. Consider my meditation. Hold them guilty, God. Let them fall by their own counsels. Thrust them out in the multitude of their transgressions, for they have rebelled against you. But let all those who take refuge in you rejoice. Let them always shout for joy, because you defend them. Let them also who love your name be joyful in you. For you will bless the righteous. LORD, you will surround him with favour as with a shield. Listen to the voice of my cry, my King and my God, for I pray to you.
Cause me to hear your loving kindness in the morning, for I trust in you. Cause me to know the way in which I should walk, for I lift up my soul to you.
For the mountains may depart, and the hills be removed, but my loving kindness will not depart from you, and my covenant of peace will not be removed,” says the LORD who has mercy on you.
“Come to me, all you who labour and are heavily burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart; and you will find rest for your souls. and said to him, “Are you he who comes, or should we look for another?” For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.”
How precious is your loving kindness, God! The children of men take refuge under the shadow of your wings. They shall be abundantly satisfied with the abundance of your house. You will make them drink of the river of your pleasures. For with you is the spring of life. In your light we will see light.
He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty.
For his anger is but for a moment. His favour is for a lifetime. Weeping may stay for the night, but joy comes in the morning.
Behold, God is my salvation. I will trust, and will not be afraid; for the LORD, the LORD, is my strength and song; and he has become my salvation.”
Therefore the LORD will wait, that he may be gracious to you; and therefore he will be exalted, that he may have mercy on you, for the LORD is a God of justice. Blessed are all those who wait for him.
Blessed be the Lord, who daily bears our burdens, even the God who is our salvation. Selah.
Having therefore, brothers, boldness to enter into the holy place by the blood of Jesus, Or else wouldn’t they have ceased to be offered, because the worshippers, having been once cleansed, would have had no more consciousness of sins? by the way which he dedicated for us, a new and living way, through the veil, that is to say, his flesh, and having a great priest over God’s house, let’s draw near with a true heart in fullness of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience and having our body washed with pure water,
I will lift up my eyes to the hills. Where does my help come from? My help comes from the LORD, who made heaven and earth.
Yes, in the way of your judgements, LORD, we have waited for you. Your name and your renown are the desire of our soul.
The young lions do lack, and suffer hunger, but those who seek the LORD shall not lack any good thing.
“Because he has set his love on me, therefore I will deliver him. I will set him on high, because he has known my name.
Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in your sight, LORD, my rock, and my redeemer.
But as for me, my prayer is to you, LORD, in an acceptable time. God, in the abundance of your loving kindness, answer me in the truth of your salvation.
My cry goes to God! Indeed, I cry to God for help, and for him to listen to me. Then I thought, “I will appeal to this: the years of the right hand of the Most High.” I will remember the LORD’s deeds; for I will remember your wonders of old. I will also meditate on all your work, and consider your doings. Your way, God, is in the sanctuary. What god is great like God? You are the God who does wonders. You have made your strength known amongst the peoples. You have redeemed your people with your arm, the sons of Jacob and Joseph. Selah. The waters saw you, God. The waters saw you, and they writhed. The depths also convulsed. The clouds poured out water. The skies resounded with thunder. Your arrows also flashed around. The voice of your thunder was in the whirlwind. The lightnings lit up the world. The earth trembled and shook. Your way was through the sea, your paths through the great waters. Your footsteps were not known. In the day of my trouble I sought the Lord. My hand was stretched out in the night, and didn’t get tired. My soul refused to be comforted.
Your loving kindness, LORD, is in the heavens. Your faithfulness reaches to the skies. Your righteousness is like the mountains of God. Your judgements are like a great deep. LORD, you preserve man and animal.
My God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus.
For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek; for the same Lord is Lord of all, and is rich to all who call on him.
It will happen that before they call, I will answer; and while they are yet speaking, I will hear.
But let all those who take refuge in you rejoice. Let them always shout for joy, because you defend them. Let them also who love your name be joyful in you.
